Gso-4.7

You can send that $20 toward their Honeymoon fund if Silver wishes to undertake such task ;)

More examples of factory 2nds are appreciated and good news for those to have scored them, but I am still perplexed that no one has a new factory 1st presale or preorder at this point despite "GSO-4.7: Preorders and Presale orders are shipping out in regular batches".
You know, I was hesitant to post my photo for fear of seeing this reaction. To be fair, though, I see one other factory second posted in this thread so that makes two in total. The first 4.7 posted here was from someone (LarsL?) who preordered last March. I wouldn't cry foul just yet.

You're correct LarsL received his factory first 4.7, I stand corrected, but you shouldn't be hesitant about posting regarding yours, as I mentioned. At least it implies there are some more factory 1st's floating around?

One would assume so. I'm pretty sure the plan isn't to send out a bunch of seconds, to the chagrin of their preordering clientele. Of course, grain of salt accompanying that statement as I'm not in on the S!K plans but I'd say that's a fair assumption, nonetheless.

What isn't an assumption is the redicuolus quality of this tool at the listed price. Holding it in my hands I feel like I'm ripping them off. This blade is priced very cheap for the quality you're getting- that's immediately apparent to me, without even having touched it to wood. If I were pressed to have one, I wouldn't declare being overcharged...even at some of the secondary market prices I'm seeing. At S!K's list cost, well, it hardly seems equitable.

Guy obviously has as much of a h@rd on for fair pricing as he does for product quality but frankly, I think he's giving himself short shrift. Again, this knife has cut nothing but some arm hair and a Pottery Barn catalog but I have no qualms saying the GSO 4.7 is certainly worth 50% more than I paid. I have a feeling that most everyone who has been waiting a year or more to get ahold of one is going to be very satisfied.

If some of us want to gather some fund$ for that, count me in with no quid pro quo. Maybe Silver who is our resident Social Media Guru, can hash something up together. I don't so social media. I'm a cranky mid aged man!

Ha! You guys give me too much credit :D

It's definitely a joyous occasion for those receiving factory seconds in a timely manner as it is for anyone who receives a GSO

As far as I've seen on here and facebook and instagram, there are 4 GSO 4.7's (not including cruforge) that have reached customers.

A youtube personality who also posts on instagram
A guy from the Facebook fan group who also posts to instagram
Some jerkweed who received then sold his 4.7 on ebay (what was he thinking?!!)
Our very own Lars

Ellie did say that there are many SURVIVE! customers who do not participate in any form of social media, so........ I guess all the regular batches of 4.7's have been going to people who ordered before April 1st, 2015 who do not use social media.

I find that perplexing. How would she, or any company for that matter, know which or how many of its customers participate in social media?

I think her exact quote was closer to "some days we ship out a bunch of knives and never hear anything about them". Usually if a customer is on social media, they're so blown away by how amazing their new knife is that they can't help but post about it. If customers get a knife and head straight out to the woods to use it and never log onto their computer then to us it seems as if SURVIVE! isn't shipping any knives.

I got my factory 2nd in 20CV today too!!! I'm pretty sure they messed up and sent me a 1st though because it's perfect.

I kind of found out by fluke that Survive! Team don't just sit on their laurels just drinking tea and yapping on social media. I messed up my fasteners so I ordered a new set. The fulfillment exactly took 5 days, plus 2 more for shipping. I received the fasteners today and my 20CV is all dolled up again being offered on another site.

Now, if Ellie had nothing else to do and they had no knives (or other stuff) to ship out, I am sure that my order for a readily available item would have been shipped the next day. In the meantime, no one that I recall posted in here about having received any knives till today.

Moral of the story: we are not all of their customers, just the diehard ones on the BFs. They are making, tinkering, tweaking, grinding, polishing, fulfilling every day. Some people let others know but I guess that most do not. The process is slow but for the quality of what we get being so under priced, it is worth the wait!

I have been acting like a big baby lately, but like I've said before, I have absolutely no doubts that the team is working hard and working long hours for us. Of course the knife will be amazing when it arrives, I have no doubts about that.

I'd like to thank rswanson for this character-building moment wherein I do NOT seethe with envy.

Nope, no envy here. It's totally cool. He's got his 4.7, mine will come, not envious at all.

At all.

Awesome pic, rswanson  thank you for sharing it.

I used to be one of those guys that didn't post anything on social media back when I had my first 4.1.
It's probably because I didn't know about the Facebook page and I stayed away from this forum because it used to get pretty nasty.

I wonder what happened with all of the prizes? The 4.7 is the only thing I can remember ever being shown off.
I was lusting over that new finish 4.1!

Yeah when I thought the drawing and knife might go out as a set I was pretty cranked up. That would have been heirloom quality for me :)

No kidding! I would've hung that drawing above the mantle with the 4.1 in a display case!
I might have to bug Azwelke to see if he's made any sheaths for the 4.1 since he got it.
