Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I'm having lunch and doing that now, thanks, Jack!

Sounds like you earned it my friend :)

Is your opening paragraph a list of qualifications for the Guardians???:eek::D:D
Man Jack and I thanks you, Jack. :)

Congrats on obtaining a lambsfoot, @WHT!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
And welcome to the Guardians! :)

Crazy weather, Preston!:thumbsdown: What was the forecast: partly cloudy with an 80% chance of insanity??

Thanks, Vince; I'm in total agreement with your assessment of the quality of that run of ACs!:thumbsup::cool:

Good deal, Taylor; 1.5 years isn't that long!:cool::thumbsup: Does that include a semester of student teaching or internship? Way to go! :)

Thanks for the reply, OG. :) Jer's comment is certainly appropriate when it comes to me and art.

Thanks, Jack; my idea for using the tin is certainly not my own, but a combination of what at least a couple of other Guardians described.:cool::)

You're right about sleeping dogs, Mark. :) (I think I may smile when I'm sleeping, too.)

Horn on a Houseboat: Old Toffee Wings looks splendid on a houseboat!:cool::thumbsup:

Congrats on the superb surprise, Vince!!:cool::cool::thumbsup: It indeed looks quite a treat! :)
Plaudits to Taylor for his thoughtful generosity ;):thumbsup:, especially for his willingness to overlook the vast gulf between the two of you in your brewed beverage preferences! :p:D
Stuff like this goes on all the time here on The Porch!!

Man Jack still in my pocket:

LOL! :D Man Jack is still looking handsome GT

The Guardians thread sure has some of the most creative and beautiful pictures capturing so many great knives!!!
I just need a brain turbo charger to try and keep up. :)

Hope you're keeping well my friend :)

Some of the maple tree's leaves suffered from the snow and freezing temps. Just have to wait and see how it effects them later.

Sorry to hear about your trees Preston, hope there's no permanent damage. Nice pic of your Snakewood Damascus

"it's not often these days that I have a drink before sundown" - it's always sundown...somewhere
It's also one of my all time fav films, for sure. Great music, funny as heck and with a cast that worked well together - might have been Carrie Fisher's first. I think it held the record for the most cars crashed in a film for a long time and still might.

LOL! :D Yes, it did! :D Just a great film :)

Morning Guardians, hope you'll all be waking up to a nice, sunny day :) That's what it's like here, and ordinarily I'd be heading out for a hike, but I have a few things to do in the house. Hopefully I can get out and enjoy some of the sunshine later though ;) Have a great weekend folks

Toting some special stag today ;)

And Lucy is coming along for the ride too :D

Thanks Jack, the weeds will take over for sure if I don't try to at least contain them. That is some special stag and of course, Lucy is special in her own right.
Garden Lambsfoot

Nice photo, Chris, doesn't look like you have to content with weeds in that garden:thumbsup:

Hope this Saturday is full of fun and enjoyment for all Guardians!

Jack, Lucy isn't the ironwood that was fumbled, was it?

No Dave, I originally bought Lucy to archive, foolishly thinking that some may not appreciate her fang-marks. Wright's did a good job of repairing my BFO-damaged sample, but took so long over it, that by the time I had it back, I had fallen for Lucy ;) Here's the original below

Good to see you here Christian, and that's a fine seasonal shot of your '19 :)

That's a pretty cool looking tin that Lucy is resting on.

Gardens are a lot of work. Good thing you have the proper tool.

Thanks John, I decided to head out of town to visit a couple of antique stores and a hardware shop I needed to get a few things from. Back home now, but I'm going out for a drink with a couple of pals later :) Hope you're having a great day

I picked up the tin the other week, it is about the same size as the ones which held the 2019 Guardians knives. I have a fire-kit in mine, and several months ago, I commissioned a leather pouch for it. Took a lot longer than the promised 2-3 weeks, but more importantly, it's smaller than advertised, and won't hold any of the tins o_O

Good Morning Guardians.

Looking good my friend :)

I guess now you'll have to hunt down a tin that fits the pouch. :D It's a very handsome pouch and looks very well made.

Looking good my friend :)
Thanks, Jack. The Rosewood has become my favorite and most carried knife. It is showing its scars and that makes me like it even more, plain and hard working. Rosewood for work and Ironwood for show. :D

Yeah! :D Thank you John, it IS well-made, if very stiff at the moment. The maker kindly supplied a tin, but I'd rather it'd fit MY tin, as it should, since the other tin is a rather odd size, and I'm not sure I'll be able to get hold of another

Fantastic :) I think the rosewood models are often overlooked, but they are great value, and work just as well as the fancier models. You certainly don't think twice about using them :)

These two are awesome Jack!!;)

Thank you very much Jose

Still focused on horn lambsfoot models as I finish catching up with this thread through Friday.
What a wonderful, kind, and thoughtful gesture. Congratulations Vince. In a World which at times seem filed with meaness, @tmd_87 Taylor’s gift says that there are still good and wonderful souls who care. It does one good to know there are still people like Taylor out there. Cheers to both of you.:)
Well said, Harvey!:thumbsup::thumbsup: One of the things that has struck me about people on The Porch in my almost 5 years here is that the kind of gesture you describe is so characteristic of so many here. :)

...
Thanks Preston, seeing the ducks just sitting out there on the wet pavement in front of the busy railway station made me reach for my camera :D ...

Thought I'd carry some horn today - from 2018 :)

...
Jack, I was quite surprised to see your photos of a pair of ducks seemingly quite content with a VERY low water level in their "pond".:cool: I could learn a lesson from them!

Appealing pic of your "second generation" horn lambsfoot; the bolster treatment on it is top-notch!:thumbsup::cool:

...
Thanks for the suggestion GT, I hadn't thought about that. I've been thinking of trying a bit of whittling but didn't know what to whittle. But I wouldn't like to try a full size one, not with my sharpening skills...:D
I hope your Man Jack is serving you well.
BTW, what's a button spanner?

Yip it's British slang for something that's rubbish but when it came to be used in that context I don't know. Of course here in the UK 'pants' are underwear. What you call pants in the US we call trousers.

Glad I could provide some inspiration, David. :) A couple of years ago I did quite a bit of amateur whittling, but haven't done any lately. I enjoyed it, and need to start up again; maybe I should try making Man Jack a dedicated whittling blade. ;)

Jack Black once kindly sent me a ring opener pen knife with covers engraved with the name of a British company that made industrial belts. He included, among other thoughtful gifts, a little wrench called a button spanner that was used to install/remove the "buttons" that held together the joints between sections of belting.

Thanks for the explanation about the use of the word "pants". May I conclude that if "pants" is undesirable, then "no pants" is a good thing?!? :D:D

Thanks for the compliment Gary! :) Handy as a pocket on a shirt! While the pile side is not as prime as the mark, I think it’s still some very nice Sambar! :D

Thanks for the pile side pic of your AC, Ron.:cool::cool: People have different tastes, and you and I will just have to agree to disagree because I like that pile side stag better than the mark side stag.:thumbsup::rolleyes:

Well, how can we be a cult if we don't think alike? ;)
...
For someone with obvious artistic inclinations and right hemisphere talents etc., you certainly have impeccable logical skills as well! ;):thumbsup:

Congratulations Gary, the work on the backside of this Senator is very beautiful!!!;)
Thanks for the compliment, José. :) Congratulations to you on your wonderful new stag lambsfoot!:thumbsup::cool:

...
For me, decisions decisions decisions....

Choose wisely, David!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Great to see the Eye of Sauron on your horn lambsfoot helping you make important decisions! ;):cool:

...
Very nice GT
...
Thanks, Jack. :)

Astonishing photo, OG; you've been saving some of the best pics of your Yosemite trip for later, eh? ;):cool::cool:

Not only that Dwight she also makes an excellent apple pie!:p
She's a KEEPER, Dave! ;):thumbsup: Congrats on your upcoming 50th wedding anniversary!!:thumbsup::)

...
And looking very "manly", GT.
...
LOL! :D Man Jack is still looking handsome GT

Thanks, John & Jack. :)

Whatever my lambsfoot of the week is, it has the honor of riding in one of Dylan's pocket slips from 2017. Here's Man Jack with the Guardians slip:
