You got good taste, David.

My three A. Wright and Son Lambsfoot came in today. Pics tomorrow hopefully. Two questions for fellow Guardians. The lefty one in buffalo is a beast to open, will this loosen up a bit over time, and is there any way to hurry the process along? My stag knife is not centered very well at all, it's not rubbing, but pretty darn close, any suggestions? The lemon/lime jigged bone is the best of the three. Photos and touching up the edges for tomorrow...BTW where do I snag the Guardians banner to add to my signature?
I'm mulling over getting the Lime/Green bone lambsfoot. Looks good on the website, but i have been deceived before buying over the net. Is it as good as it looks, would really like your imput, Thanks.

By way of offering information, donn donn San Quentin is not a jail but a prison. Here, jails are local county lockups and a prison is ran by the state. A jail houses inmates who for the most part are awaiting trial or a hearing (such as a reduction of sentence for one who has already been convicted of breaking the law), or for one who has been sentenced for committing a misdemeanor. The max. sentence is usually 1 year and the population is for the most part not dangerous, although there is always someone around who is interested in establishing a more "respected reputation" by using physical force. Housing in different areas of a jail is therefore extremely important to keep the more vicious from preying on the weaker. For a some years, I headed a program that offered mental health services to the Fresno County jail population, including those from Atascadero State Hospital (for mentally ill criminals) awaiting a hearing to determine re-establishment of sanity.
On the other hand, a prison houses those who have been convicted of a felony and have been sentenced. The population is therefore much more dangerous, especially with the numerous gang affiliates who end up in prison. As much as possible, members of different gangs are housed in different prisons to prevent altercations. Unlike inmates, prisoners usually have already established their hierarchy (sometimes from a county jail occurrence prior to transfer). Violence is of a more deadly nature and is always simmering below the surface.
(A lesser known movie which I feel depicts prison life well is "Felon" starring Stephen Dorff and Val Kilmer. Another is "An Innocent Man" starring Tom Selleck).
San Quentin State Prison is located approx. 15 or 20 miles across the Golden Gate Bridge, north of San Francisco. It also is the site of Death Row for male inmates in California and still has a gas chamber, although lethal injection was the method most recently used. In California, capital punishment has had a roller coaster ride history of being temporally halted only to be reinstated, and executions are presently again halted due to a 2019 moratorium by the present governor. According to Wikipedia, the last execution was in 2006 and there are presently over 700 male inmates on Death Row and over 20 female who are on Death Row in the Central California Women's Facility in Chowchilla (about 20 miles west of me, as the crow flies).
OG
You certainly did hardcore work, OG. My hats off to you. Now I don’t have a first hand experience heading mental health treatment programs with prison populations, and I don’t know if you’ve seen the 93 film by Taylor Hackford, “Blood in Blood Out, but that’s gave me a fundamental idea of what prison life must be like.

Thank you, Harvey. I was just trying to show that I knew what I was talking about. There are a lot of folks working Mental Health in many different fields that do a lot of good for a lot of folks. I was lucky to have some of them on our team.
I haven't seen the movie, but I'm aware of what the words mean and I'll look for it.

Oooowee bang! :thumbsup::p

Thanks Harvey! :thumbsup::D

David, things are gradually finding a place in their new home :thumbsup: although over the next few weeks the painters, carpet installers, electricians and air-condition fellas will be in. Then that should be it! ;):confused::rolleyes:

It must be great seeing your new home come together Dave. However, I hope all this activity won't prevent you from posting some fine pictures of a fine lambsfoot perched on the bar of that fine pub you live across from. :):thumbsup: Or propping up an ice cream....:D

OG

Thank you for the clarification OG. It sounds similar to something we used to have in the UK. Accused not granted bail were kept in "Remand Centres" before trial, which could be for some time actually. Then we have prisons (HMP's-Her Majesty's Prisons) which are rated-I think- Category A, B, C. 'A' is for the most serious offences. We then have seperate facilities for juvenile offenders but I know nothing of that system.
Hats off to you for doing that job; that couldn't of been an easy. I worked for three years in a secure mental health unit for people with violent and challenging behaviours secondary to traumatic brain injury. Three years was generally regarded as about the maximum amount of time people could work on the acute ward. I hold in high regard people who do that work. Likewise with prison officers; that's not a job I could do.

Anyway this was meant to be a quick post as I've been called into work. It was going to be this today but now won't be.:(

Hope everyone has a great Monday! :thumbsup:

This thread has become my new BF go to, alongside the traditionals thread. I’ve never really been drawn towards the lambsfoot blade shape before, but now my wallet is starting to get itchy seeing all of these. Some of these knives are just such beautiful embodiments of a good solid old fashioned working pocket knife.

Blimey! Someone steal the bacon Vince?! :D That's a great composition my friend :) :thumbsup:
I had the bacon earlier! This was a refreshing early evening light supper. (Had some eggs with Tabasco sauce, toast with butter, and some whole milk later.)
Smashing pic Vince, hope you had a great weekend :) :thumbsup:
Thanks, Jack. Had a great weekend. Astros swept the A's! (Sorry, Taylor. :( At least Golden State won last night!)
:)
