Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Morning Guardians, great to see the Hartshead Barlows landing :) Think I'm going to go with my Rosewood model today. Have a good Summer Solstice Friday, and an even better weekend :)

Two wonderful pics Jack. :thumbsup::cool::)

Congrats, Charlie!!:thumbsup::cool: Looks like between the Hartshead Barlows and the Waynorth Cutlery tubes, your property is overrun with lambs! :p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

You'd be stumped trying to find more impressive ironwood than yours, Darren!:cool::thumbsup:

I yield the floor to the salutary stag senator from California, Steve! ;):thumbsup:

Vince, your rosewood lamb has vernal va-va-voom!:thumbsup:;)

All-time Champ AC, Dave!:cool::cool: Maybe you can clean rollers or brushes?? :)

I say we all meet at Dave's place in early August to go to breakfast and then head over to the GEC Rendezvous! :D:thumbsup::D

Congrats, Taylor!!:thumbsup::cool: Rousing rosewood Hartshead Barlow!

Agree with David 100%.:thumbsup::cool: Jack has arranged for some exemplary stag on both the AC run and these Hartshead Barlows!

Irresistible ironwood stripes, José! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, José. :) That's an old pic from last fall when the patina was just forming; it's not as colorful today.

Thanks, Ron. :) I'm glad what you say is true, since I usually don't know if I'm coming or going.

Sounds nutritious and delicious, John!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks for the report.:thumbsup: There are lots of things I've discovered that probably aren't worth the trouble.

I hope you can get it worked out to everyone's satisfaction soon, John. The Porch often serves me as a way to "escape" when the challenges of "real life" get overwhelming.

Hang in there, FBC; maybe soon the busy times will just be a blip on the radar, as your ironwood displays.:cool:;)

Sounds like you have a good plan for fiscal responsibility in your knife transactions, Preston.:cool::thumbsup: And when a stellar stag Senator tells you to mow, I guess you have to mow! ;):thumbsup:

Thanks, David; the shot was from last fall. :) We've had below average temperatures, below average sun, and above average precipitation every month so far this year, but the oak leaves have barely come out.

Congrats on your Hartshead Barlow pair, Harvey, and thanks for sharing the pro pics! I agree with José – the fiery stag on the mark side really stands out!:cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. :)

Nice tool, Jack, but I hope you don't intend to attach it to your stag Barlow!:D

Cool tool, Jack!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Looks like something that was born in the Frankensteinian imagination of Shelley; interesting juxtaposition with Stoker's Lucy! ;):D

Thanks GT! Senator is a pretty ridiculous name for a knife isn't it?!

I'm loving all of of the photos of these new Hartshead Barlows. Well, actually, I'm loving ALL of the photos in this thread.

Hope you all enjoy the summer solstice! More time to look at knives in daylight!

Happy Summer Solstice, Jack. Your rosewood is looking beautiful.

That's why my friend 'Master Card' kindly acquired my Hartshead for me
I've been down that road before. Too easy to get in trouble with plastic money. ;)

Ahhh...the rack of lamb! Tasty tasty tasty...
It was very tasty indeed.

I hope you can get it worked out to everyone's satisfaction soon, John. The Porch often serves me as a way to "escape" when the challenges of "real life" get overwhelming.
Thank you, GT. I was reading every word on the Porch for escape. :)

Did I miss some excitement around here today?

D Dschal , you can edit the quote of Charlie's attachment in your quoted post.
(I hope that makes sense, my brain is fried this afternoon)

Come to Austin, and I can find you a couple breakfast tacos and a bottomless cup of coffee for under $10. Also, I think it's in the Texas Constitution that all iced tea comes with free refills. It's not officially summer yet, and the thermometer read 106 this afternoon, so iced tea is a necessity.

I'm enjoying seeing all the Hartsheads; it's making my anticipation grow. Mine has decided to hang out in Chicago for a few days. o_O
Thanks r8shell r8shell ! I have done so. I should have thought of that myself! Thanks for watching my back.

Thanks guys, I've found the lambsfoot an exceptional tool for this job. I've discovered a technique that the shape of the handle and the shape of the tip is perfect for. Hard to describe but, I grasp the spindle in my left hand, place the blade into the grove, and use my left thumb on the sloped spine of the point to make controlled push cuts. The lambsfoot makes a great carpenter's knife imho.
Sounds like a standard whittling cut, David!:cool::thumbsup:

He almost got away with it, too. But now I'm wearing Saltwater Croc boots! ;)
What a croc, Vince! ;):thumbsup: Reptilian boots is another Texas thing, aren't they? Do you need croc/alligator/rattler boots to eat TX chili? :p

You are an artist with a camera!
I want you or Dwight to photo all my knives. :)
...
I've had that same desire, John! :):thumbsup:

This big package showed up today. I was amazed at all the generosity that was inside, it went a long way to brightening my mood. I thank you, Jack, for the personal touches that dwarf even the impressiveness of the knife. You are a truly fine person! I love the little robot and will enjoy the treats as soon as my other son comes home to enjoy them with me.

As far as the knife is concerned, I don't think I have the words to say how thrilled I am with it. I originally wanted the rosewood but (kind of reluctantly) changed over to the stag. I don't typically like stag because of the unevenness of the sides. But this has such well-matched sides it makes me very happy. I also don't like popcorn stag and was relieved to see this had nice subtle striped stag. In a quick sentence, the stag is perfect. I will echo everybody else on the rest of the knife, it is Wright's best work yet. Fit and finish is top notch, the design details that Jack put in are perfect, and it is a substantial cutting tool. Thanks for all your hard work, Jack.

Here's a quick photo, more to come later...
He said it's an old monastery in the park.
And now that you've had me talking so much, I have to include some Lambsfoot content. ;) Pile side...
Congrats on your new stag Hartshead Barlow, John; looks fabulous!:thumbsup::cool: And kudos to Jack for including all the bonus contents! :):thumbsup:

Thank you, GT. The arrangement occurred because I was running out of room on the small piece of black stuff I use for a background
Superb pic of your superb AC
...
Beautiful shot. Incidentally, I refer to your '19 as Laura - as in Twin Peaks ;) I like it when she shows her slip
...
OG
Thanks for the good word, OG. :)
Yikes! I haven't thought about Twin Peaks in ages. That was a show that I wish I hadn't invested so much time watching, given the "payoff" at the end!:rolleyes:

I regret that it was necessary to remove some posts from this thread today, a rare event, and I hope it won't be needed again. Thanks to those that keep The Porch a great place to hang out, and who have enough work to do without us Guardians causing them more :)
I guess I missed some controversy yesterday! I hope I didn't miss any lessons I need to learn!

I have to admit I had no idea who was pictured on your mug, Vince. :( I used to enjoy learning about history, and thought that I was reasonably knowledgeable, but as I age, I realize how many huge holes there are in my knowledge of history.

Getting some work done with a hard-working knife.

Cool pic, but kind of sinister!:thumbsup::cool:

All old junk is cool. It's the new junk that's crap. :D

That's my wife's attitude, and I don't consider it budget-friendly.

Whew! All caught up after taking several days off from the forum while traveling to attend a relative’s graduation. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed seeing the fantastic pictures of the Hartshead Barlows as they are arriving. Thank you all for sharing!

I’m checking my PO Box daily in anticipation of being able to share my own. :) In the mean time, it feels really good to have a lambsfoot in my pocket again after forgoing it for air travel.
Welcome back, Greg! :):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great picture, GT.
It makes me yearn for my favorite time of year. The weather is cooler, the trees are beautiful, it's prime fly fishing time, and prime four wheeling time. I spend a lot of time in the mountains in the Fall. I can't wait!!!

Sounds like a yummy breakfast! It’s funny, though: I start nearly every day with coffee and would order it with most breakfasts, but I think I’d prefer iced tea (unsweetened) with breakfast tacos. Go figure.

Eveving Guardians :) Day two at Lake Tahoe. Spent a good portion of the day relaxing at the pool and rec center...but managed to talk my family into driving down to Emerald Bay with me.

Looks like a splendid time, Darren! Thanks for taking some time out to share it.

Well, it came today.

Sorry about the lighting, but it's dark out. I will be posting more pictures soon.

This is my fourth lambsfoot. The first was Ashley's Choice, a wonderful little Sambar Stag knife that was my 2018 "Knife of the Year." Then the desert ironwood lambsfoot, which is a better size for my hands. Every ironwood lambsfoot I've seen here is extraordinary. What a beautiful knife! Then I was gifted a limited edition rosewood lambsfoot that @tmd_87 won in Jack's latest GAW. (Thanks again, Taylor!) Another special knife. Carried it today. This one I've had for a couple of hours, and it's already my favourite. When I first saw pictures of it, I knew I had to buy one, and I'm glad I did. I will be toting this one often. A great size for a pocket knife, and gorgeous fat stag, the way I like it. A work of art, and I love the history behind it. I love the pocket slip and the button, too.

Kudos to the cutler, and to you, Jack. What a great ambassador you are. I will drink a toast to you tonight with some English gin. Cheers!

Ooh! Congratulations!

The grain on this knife is fantastic!

That is an understatement, Taylor. I see a mountain ridge topped by a sunset beneath a dark line of clouds fading off into night.

A Herculean effort Greg, well done! :) Great to see you back my friend...

...and to know you have a Lambsfoot back in your pocket :)

Thanks Jack. When I saw that I was over 300 messages behind I was certain that the Hartsheads were landing. That’s a lot of messages in a few days, even for this thread! :)

Morning Guardians, great to see the Hartshead Barlows landing :) Think I'm going to go with my Rosewood model today. Have a good Summer Solstice Friday, and an even better weekend :)

Thanks GT! Cracking photo of your Cracker Jack.

These Barlows are substantial.
Here's an interesting comparison shot with my rosewood...

Thanks for this. I’d been wondering about that....

Great pic of that Damascus beauty
Thank you sir.

What a great looking tree. Even better looking lambsfoot of course.
Thanks David. It is actually vines intertwined.

 Reptilian boots is another Texas thing, aren't they? Do you need croc/alligator/rattler boots to eat TX chili?
No GT. All you need for Texas chili is a STRAW. :D :D

Good morning Guardians today I start the day with this beautiful gift!:)

Good morning Jose :)

Thanks Jack, same to you, this anxiety increases with each passing day and the postman leaves nothing.:(
Now only on Tuesday, because it's a holiday here on Monday, but I have to be patient (difficult !!!).:D:thumbsup:

Hopefully it will soon be in your hands my friend :)

Nice tool, Jack, but I hope you don't intend to attach it to your stag Barlow!:D

Cool pic my friend, though I was slightly disappointed when I saw the wee robot wasn't pressed-steel like the ones from my childhood

Very poetic John :)

Interesting pic, they do have a weighty feel to them don't they? After carrying the Barlows back from Sheffield in rucsac, I went out and bought a small wheeled case in case of future need :D

You, too, Jack! Lovely shots.

Thank you Greg :)

Beautiful photo of your '19 Dwight :)

Another photo of stag left hand and with decorated backspring!:)

That's a real nice one Jose :)

Hope everyone is having a good day :) I walked into town, and after calling in at the post office, went for coffee and a blueberry croissant :)

That's a rosewood big'un, right? It seems the Hartshead is a heavier knife than I've been imagining.
Sounds like a yummy breakfast! It’s funny, though: I start nearly every day with coffee and would order it with most breakfasts, but I think I’d prefer iced tea (unsweetened) with breakfast tacos. Go figure.
That makes sense, especially if you're having something spicy.

I think I'll make a pot of chili con frijoles this Sunday. (You see, 5K Qs 5K Qs , Chili con carne is peppers with meat. Chili con carne con frijoles is peppers & meat with beans. So as a Texan, I can make chili the way I like it (with pinto beans) I just have to call it by the right nombre. :p

While waiting for my Barlow, I'll carry some horn:
