I LOVE those tang stamps. Little details like that really add to making these knives something special.

I got my package from Jack yesterday evening around 8pm...

I missed this earlier. Congrats on your fine pair of barlows.

Congratulations. Another fine example of Wright's craftsmanship and Jack's vision.

Congratulations Greg, this Rosewood is special!:)

Alrighty then. Congratulations on that fine looking Barlow, Greg.

Thank you, Gentlemen. The Rosewood used on these does look great. As does the stag. I'm loving all the pictures!

Today's arrival!

Speaking of lovely stag... :) Congrats!

Thanks! I hope it's not gaining weight from eating too much Chicago pizza. (postal tracking is both a blessing and a curse)

Well, at least all that fat will keep the steel well oiled. ;)

Sorry, guys, it's not a Barlow yet, but it is a Real Lambsfoot. :D

It's certainly a great-looking Lambsfoot Dave :)

Thanks a lot Vince

@$%#£&!!! o_O

I got my package from Jack yesterday evening around 8pm when I finally got home from an unbelievably tough and long day helping my brother and niece. As usual Jack had taken the time to securely package the knives to ensure a safe arrival. Thanks Jack! I haven’t taken any glamour photos of my Barlow’s yet, but I did take this one quick photo. I have spent some time this morning flushing and inspecting. Maybe I’ll get some photos in the evening light. It appears that some of the Stag examples have nicely matched scales as to thickness. Congrats to all who have received their Barlow’s. :)

Sorry to hear about your tough day Ron, but I'm glad you had something nice to come home to, as well as Pam of course :) I like that stag, you seem to always have great fortune with stag my friend, at least it always looks good to me (I know that stag is one of those things folks have differing tastes about) :)

The previous examples are all spoken for, sorry.

My ebony example has wonderful F&F, crisp half-stop, steel frame and nice black ebony (don't know about the rest, so please don't ask to open) and the bone is, well it is as fine an example of jigging as I've seen come from GEC, and Bill & Co. did a super job!

I admit now, that Charlie told me over a year ago about the American Lambfoot project, and at the time I wondered how well an English pattern would go over, but now that it has come to fruition I see that Charlie, of course, had a wonderful plan in mind! A truly great SFO sir!!!

That would be horrible! But I would mail you a cake with a file in it. :D

Thank John, please make it a tasty cake and a big file! :D

Thanks Dwight. All this smart phone learning curve stuff plus lambsfoot queries make me want a little time out.

from the desktop this time:

Ahhh… a nice cold Hood Canal Brewery "Dosewallips Special Ale" fresh from Kingston WA

And now, a nap.

Dwight, I think you are spot on about file size.

Fantastic Barry, and well-deserved I'm sure :)

Oh Happy Day! Look what was waiting for me in my PO Box this morning:

Jack, you and Wright's have outdone yourselves, my friend! I've long wished for a Black-designed, Wright-produced Lambsfoot and this one does not disappoint. I'm delighted.

Thank you for your tireless hard work that made this a possibility. It came to fruition splendidly.

Frabjous Greg! :) Thank you my friend, I'm glad they got the darn etch right on that one! o_O

I'm glad it made it Jeff :)

Here they have you making license plates.

Yikes! Isn't it just? I don't usually look

I heard that Rachel. They picked oakum here at one time, then they had rock-breaking, and various invented labours like carrying cannonballs around, the treadmill and the 'crank' (see below), then sewing mail-bags. I'm not sure what they do now, but prison warders are traditionally known as screws here (the same in the US once I believe), and the name comes because they tightened the screw on the crank making the handle harder to turn.

When I discovered that getting a tracked package from the UK doesn't necessarily guarantee a faster delivery, I have opted for standard shipping since then. That way, I get a nice surprise whenever it shows up.

And they're mine, ALL MINE!!!!!! EEeehhhaaahhhh…. (laughs maniacly) :D:D:D

That's also a very nice parcel to receive!! :D

OK, they're not mine, but they are for a minute!

Very nice indeed, the 'Oil The Joints' mark is a nice touch :) I've asked Wright's about adding that, but perhaps it should be 'Flush The Joints'! :D

Sounds like you have a good plan for fiscal responsibility in your knife transactions, Preston.:cool::thumbsup: And when a stellar stag Senator tells you to mow, I guess you have to mow! ;):thumbsup:
Thanks, so true, Gary...I got about half done and had to stop. The wind was blowing to hard and I needed to change oil. The break-in period had gone by and I was over the hours the warranty wanted it hanged by.
I think I'll make a pot of chili con frijoles this Sunday. (You see, @5K Qs , Chili con carne is peppers with meat. Chili con carne con frijoles is peppers & meat with beans. So as a Texan, I can make chili the way I like it (with pinto beans) I just have to call it by the right nombre. :p

While waiting for my Barlow, I'll carry some horn:
Thanks, everyone. And Good Morning, Guardians!

That is some of the best looking stag I've seen, congrats, Vince
Looking good John! :)

Very nice Vince! :)

Gary I sort of suspected that! :p  :D

I did the same thing, Dylan. Seeing all these arrive has heightened my want!

Those are so nice...love the 'oil the joints'...

You are just amazing with your knowledge of things, Jack!
Time to hit the hay here in Yorkshire ;) Wishing everyone a fantastic weekend

Have a restful night! That Barlow is wonderful...I'd sleep with it under my pillow:D:D:D

Oh man it’s great seeing the Barlow’s coming in and seeing some of my friends reactions!
Just beautiful!

Wow Barry - thank you for the sneak peak at Charlie’s Lambsfoot packages!

I can’t get over just how nice The Hartshead Barlow’s are and seeing more and more of them appear on this Thread is exciting!

I had some time this afternoon, so I flushed the Hartshead's joints and gave the blade a new, more acute edge.

5Ho44RWh.jpg

Fortunately the new bevel doesn't encroach on the etch. I was a bit worried about that, but still wanted to install my preferred working edge since I anticipate this knife being a regular part of my lambsfoot rotation.

Now it's shaving sharp and ready for my pocket. It's a safe bet it'll be there for at least the next week.

I hope everyone else who has one is enjoying theirs and those who are still waiting have theirs soon!

With my Hartshead Barlow arriving today, I did some comparison of RALF to the new kid on the block. Placing the two knives parallel, with the front of each bolster lined up, we can see that the two lamb foot blades are identical in size. The closed length of the Guardians' 2018 ebony is 3.60", while the Hartshead frame is 3.74" and thicker as well. With the longer bolster and more hand-filling frame, I would say the Hartshead is a slightly harder working version of the Guardians. I dig 'em both . . . many, many thanks, Jack!

It was a rough day Jack! But that’s what older brothers and uncles are for, right! ;) Stag is a natural product and that means there will be variations. Sometimes I think I may be too critical. My Barlow has nice Stag and I am absolutely tickled to have it. That being said and hoping no one will think ill of me, it does have one thing that I didn’t particularly like. On the channel side at the top of the blade well the pile side is considerably thicker than the mark side. It’s just something that stood out to me before I even unwrapped it. Most people would probably not even notice it. I’m hesitant to even discuss it here, but full disclosure I guess. The Barlow’s are extremely well made. The fit and finish are superb. Both of my examples are flush in both positions. They are perfectly centered and have a very nice and even pull weight. They walk and talk with the best of them! I love the heft and feel of the knives. The bolster stamp is even on all four of my bolsters. Both of my examples have very nice etches. Very nice indeed! The tweed pocket slips are classy additions. And the buttons are a very nice addition as well. All in all I commend Jack and the staff at Wright’s for bringing us another great Lambsfoot. I will try to get some photos in the morning, if all the storms pass through tonight! Thank you Jack! :)

Looking forward to seeing more of those two beauties
Thank you! :)
