Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

An impressive variety of lambsfoots showed up in the 1380s pages. Below, I tried to quote posts in which a given model showed up for the first time in that decade.
Happy Yorkshire Day 2019!

Your ironwood and your stag HHB form quite a fitting lambsfoot pair for the recent Yorkshire Day festivities, Chin! (I've been in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for about 28 hours now, and have yet to sample a pastie. :()

I received this in the mail today. It is stamped Made in Sheffield. Nothing else. Is there a Sheffield Pakistan? The bolsters are brass and the scales are supposed to be rosewood.
The quality is just OK, not great.

I enjoyed the second installment (of what I hope is a long series), Greg!:cool::thumbsup:

Happy Yorkshire Day GT :) Thank you, that's a memorable photo and a great composition :) I was in the Blue Bell on Monday, and was thinking how much you'd love it in there :)
...
Thanks, Jack. :) If I were to meet you in the Blue Bell, it wouldn't be the first establishment I frequented that my wife and daughter considered unsavory! :D;)

...
I thought I would gather the special knives that Jack has been responsible for bringing to us this year for a special photo. Unfortunately, I do not have much in the way of Yorkshire swag but I do have this bottle of Henderson's which has become quite a staple in our kitchen.

Happy Yorkshire Day, folks!

Good Morning Guardians
I just realized that a couple of your lambsfoot knives are a WCLF and a WOLF!:thumbsup::thumbsup::D

I thought at first that your stag HHB was involved with sausages, Harvey!:D:thumbsup:

Howdy Guardians.

Cindy (my wife) and I returned from Klamath Falls, Oregon and the doctors late yesterday evening
with the news that Cindy has been declared cancer free after 5-years. Of course, we'll keep a close eye on it regardless. Needles to say that news cheered me up considerably.

When I got home, there was an e-mail from a shop in Sheffield telling me that my Large Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers was ready and being shipped to me along with a two blade lambfoot I had also ordered. Here's a picture of my Large Lambfoot. Although not a great picture, it is much appreciated. Thanks to the vendor. The actual Lambfoot winging it's way to me.

I hope you guys will excuse me now while I go out in the back yard and watch for the plane carrying my knives.
Thanks for sharing the good news about your wife's health, ED; "cancer free" has to be one of the best pairs of words someone can hear!:thumbsup::) And congrats on more new lambsfoots heading your way; you're jumping right into the deep end of the pool!:D:thumbsup:

Good Morning friends!! :D First off, thank you so very much, Jack, for your generous gift :D I would like to chose the HB Stag Barlow if I may.:)

Congrats again, Dave - fine choice!:cool::thumbsup:

Thank you Jack.

Excellent idea. I bought this one for Cherri and she's very pleased with it.View attachment 1172715
Are the blades on that KK mower lambsfoots, Dwight? If so, another example of the elusive American lambsfoot; if not, why is it pictured in this thread??? :D:D

Today was cleaning and sharpening day. 2 bolster needed a bit more attention, and had to mildly file the kick as she was a little proud after sharpening.

A little "Dublin Blues" for your travels, Bill.

Incredible photo, Harvey! Great color selection for that shot!:thumbsup:

I picked up a few old photos of Sheffield in the market the other week. This one features the road I grew up on. Our house was a couple of hundred yards further up the road, and a little smaller, but I lived in one of those houses when I was in my early twenties :)

wGRlCAg.jpg

This photo is taken nearby, and the two bridges shown pan the Porter Brook . Both bridges lead to the dam (or millpond) of Upper Spurgear Wheel . I wonder if the old gent is Mr Ibbotson, the owner of Porter Glen Boating Lake?

This photo shows one of the entrances to Sheffield Botanical Gardens, and is close to where the Famous Sheffield Shop stands today, and near where @pmew 's grandfather used to live :)

I'm never sure of the purpose of 'Black IPA's other than brewers showing off, but this one was in my fridge, and it tastes OK :) Certainly not as strange as the 'White Coffee Stout' I had on Yorkshire Day, which while utterly delicious, still has me scratching my head o_O

5K Qs 5K Qs - Thank you G.T. Black, when you break it down, consists of 256 shades of gray.

mitch4ging mitch4ging - Thank you so much Dennis. The Chiapa allows me to shoot with reasonable accuracy, because its’ design mostly eliminates the barrel flipping up when fired. Wishing you a great week.

Nice, John!
Thanks, Dennis. :)

I'm showing my complete ignorance on this topic, but I've looked online, and have found no definitive answers... is there some sort of parameters for a blade that will distinguish a lambfoot/sheepfoot/ramfoot? It looks to me like a lambfoot spine slopes downward slightly toward the tip, and a ramfoot slopes upward slightly, making the tip wider than the hinge side of the blade. I don't know where the sheepfoot falls in there.

Anybody know the actual differences in these? Thanks in advance.

I love this Waynorth LambFoot so much!!

Great pics :)

I'm going to look for that one.

It's not commonly available here, mainly due to the high price (up to £10 - $12.50 - a bottle), but I came across a well-stocked shop, selling it at half that price :) Hope you can find some Vince, it may be less expensive in Texas as the tax is much lower than here

I'm not sure what I'm looking for, is the wheel not seen?

A cutlery wheel is the whole physical structure, the grinding hull or workshop. Even after the use of water-power ceased, and even at those which never had water-power, the word 'wheel' was still used to refer to a cutlery workshop. In this case though, the water-wheel was situated on the right side of the photo, just out of shot, and would have looked like this one, which is fitted to one of the cutlery wheels a little further upstream - Shepherd's Wheel ;)

Well, I had already read the first couple of pages before I posted this, and all I found was "don't post your ramfoot photos here". I also saw the diagram of the lambfoot blade. That explains what a lambfoot is, but not what a sheepfoot and a ramfoot are.

I will go back and read more.

EDIT: After a couple more pages, I think I have it. Enough for me, anyway. Pretty much what I thought. When comparing the spine to the edge, lambsfoot tapers downward, sheepsfoot is pretty much parallel, and the ramsfoot tapers upward. May not capture all the nuances, but that's good enough for my enquiring mind....
