Love the stag covers! I definitely have a stag lambfoot on my wish list!
Your ironwood and your stag HHB form quite a fitting lambsfoot pair for the recent Yorkshire Day festivities, Chin! (I've been in Michigan's Upper Peninsula for about 28 hours now, and have yet to sample a pastie.Happy Yorkshire Day 2019!

...
Congrats!! In my mind's eye, that's what a traditional lambsfoot ought to look like!I received this in the mail today. It is stamped Made in Sheffield. Nothing else. Is there a Sheffield Pakistan? The bolsters are brass and the scales are supposed to be rosewood.
The quality is just OK, not great.

All that quality AND quantity in the past 7 months, Dylan? Jack has been a Guardian of grand goings-on!...
I thought I would gather the special knives that Jack has been responsible for bringing to us this year for a special photo. Unfortunately, I do not have much in the way of Yorkshire swag but I do have this bottle of Henderson's which has become quite a staple in our kitchen.
Happy Yorkshire Day, folks!

I thought at first that your stag HHB was involved with sausages, Harvey!
Thanks for sharing the good news about your wife's health, ED; "cancer free" has to be one of the best pairs of words someone can hear!Howdy Guardians.
Cindy (my wife) and I returned from Klamath Falls, Oregon and the doctors late yesterday evening
with the news that Cindy has been declared cancer free after 5-years. Of course, we'll keep a close eye on it regardless. Needles to say that news cheered me up considerably.
When I got home, there was an e-mail from a shop in Sheffield telling me that my Large Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers was ready and being shipped to me along with a two blade lambfoot I had also ordered. Here's a picture of my Large Lambfoot. Although not a great picture, it is much appreciated. Thanks to the vendor. The actual Lambfoot winging it's way to me.

Are the blades on that KK mower lambsfoots, Dwight? If so, another example of the elusive American lambsfoot; if not, why is it pictured in this thread???Thank you Ron.
Thank you Jack.
A wonderful thing to hear. Very happy news.
Excellent idea. I bought this one for Cherri and she's very pleased with it.View attachment 1172715

Hello Guardians! Made it to Dublin
And the Guinness brewery, or Porterhouse brewery, or.....have any spare time in Dublin, I highly recommend a visit to Kilmainham Gaol (museum) .
Nice, Preston! I really got to get some shooting time in. Probably just the .22 Henry and clay pigeons.Colt's Combat Unit, 9 mm and the Ruger Blackhawk, 45 Colt/45 ACP. In me haste to leave for the range I forgot the Lambsfoot, hence the after the fact photo.

Love the old photos, Jack! It's always interesting to see where we come from, and how it looks now. Not always improvements.I picked up a few old photos of Sheffield in the market the other week. This one features the road I grew up on. Our house was a couple of hundred yards further up the road, and a little smaller, but I lived in one of those houses when I was in my early twenties

This photo is taken nearby, and the two bridges shown pan the Porter Brook . Both bridges lead to the dam (or millpond) of Upper Spurgear Wheel . I wonder if the old gent is Mr Ibbotson, the owner of Porter Glen Boating Lake?

This photo shows one of the entrances to Sheffield Botanical Gardens, and is close to where the Famous Sheffield Shop stands today, and near where @pmew 's grandfather used to live![]()

Looks great, Jack!I'm never sure of the purpose of 'Black IPA's other than brewers showing off, but this one was in my fridge, and it tastes OKCertainly not as strange as the 'White Coffee Stout' I had on Yorkshire Day, which while utterly delicious, still has me scratching my head

Best thing to do is read at least the first few pages of this thread.I'm showing my complete ignorance on this topic, but I've looked online, and have found no definitive answers... is there some sort of parameters for a blade that will distinguish a lambfoot/sheepfoot/ramfoot? It looks to me like a lambfoot spine slopes downward slightly toward the tip, and a ramfoot slopes upward slightly, making the tip wider than the hinge side of the blade. I don't know where the sheepfoot falls in there.
Anybody know the actual differences in these? Thanks in advance.

Best thing to do is read at least the first few pages of this thread.
Well, I had already read the first couple of pages before I posted this, and all I found was "don't post your ramfoot photos here". I also saw the diagram of the lambfoot blade. That explains what a lambfoot is, but not what a sheepfoot and a ramfoot are.Best thing to do is read at least the first few pages of this thread.
Thanks so much for the explanation, Jack, much appreciated!A cutlery wheel is the whole physical structure, the grinding hull or workshop. Even after the use of water-power ceased, and even at those which never had water-power, the word 'wheel' was still used to refer to a cutlery workshop. In this case though, the water-wheel was situated on the right side of the photo, just out of shot, and would have looked like this one, which is fitted to one of the cutlery wheels a little further upstream - Shepherd's Wheel![]()
