LOL! Funny story! That's when he'd of been in 'Sharp' I reckon.

Yes, I know they all found the idea of him cowering in the foot-well hilarious! :D You know what Sheffield is like everybody knows everybody else, it's a real village  @Jolipapa mentioned Joe Cocker earlier, he's a good deal older than me, but when I was in my late teens, a lot of the older guys I knew had known him, and he'd crop up in stories. They always just referred to him as 'Cocker'. I know the other Sheffield Cocker, and the rest of his band, and his dad in fact! :D

Ahhh so they had thought of them before. It's just that the young up and coming marketing graduate fresh out of uni' hadn't yet been born when they did. :D

Yeah, I don't know when they date from. Maybe they were available throughout, just not very well marketed! :D I had to buy 3 boxes to get them delivered, and one bag convinced me they weren't worth bothering with!

That however is not a funny story. It's disgusting how the UK government treats it's war veterans and it's been going on for as long as we've had a standing army.:rolleyes:
He sounds like a very courageous man and yet from the stories I was told by the old soldiers I knew, not unusual or unique.

No, a fairly routine one I guess, and you're right, it has always gone on, and is possibly even worse today than in the past :( Yes indeed, they were all 'just doing their duty', Bill was just at a lot of wrong places at a lot of wrong times, guess he thought he'd be riding a horse when he joined up. Extraordinary times and extraordinary men

Cool pic Dave

that looks like great coffee, and it's made for a cool pic  Hope you're keeping well my friend :)
Thank you, Jack! Getting on for an old fat guy I guess!:thumbsup:
your stag is incredible and your knife is in very nice condition.
Thank you very much, Bill! Guess that's still the military and my dad's influence on me, got to pass inspection, and take care of your stuff...
You have inspired me to get my shop back up and running. I'll be spending most of this week cleaning the garage and next week setting up my tools.
Look forward to it!:cool::thumbsup:
Good Morning Guardians.
Happy some of our missing Guardians are checking in.
Yes, and NICE!:)
Your Hartshead Stag is definitely a beauty!
Thank you very much, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Good news, just been in the post box, the replacement has arrived, and very nicely done it is too.

Both look great, Ed! Really great to see your posts again!:)
Jack, very cool. The Thunderbirds 45th infantry, just down the road from where I grew up!
Where were you raised? Quite a few Okies hanging around here now!;)
What a wonderful image of your Hartshead.
Thank you much, Harvey!:)
Jack’s Smile PSA is spot on. I took this selfie with a friend/neighbor this morning.

...both those characters look suspicious :thumbsup::D!
I'm sort of isolating at the mo' so as I'm already bored I'll do a proper post re: Winchester, probably tomorrow.
That's a great plan! images (6).jpeg
I have just spent the last 25 minutes trawling YouTube trying to find a video to help you understand Yorkshire (language) Dan! :D
Interesting stuff, Jack!;) Unfortunately I'll forget most of it and continue to slaughter the English language!
Preparing some Kale to crisp with my trusty 1-XL.

The IXL looks superlative, Harvey! The kale.....I don't trust kale, it's very condescending!:p:thumbsup:
Morning Guardians, for most of us this is certainly not a regular weekend, but I hope everyone is safe and well, managing to find something to do, and managing to keep a smile on your face :) Life's got to be better with a Lambsfoot right? :) Even better with two! ;) Yep, Lucy's out of the box! :D

Hey, Lovely Lucy is Let Loose! Excellent choices, my friend!:thumbsup:
Good Morning Guardians
I'm very jealous of Dylan's and Vince's beards.
I've been using my free time to clean out my garage and will start setting up my Leather Shop soon.
The garage was a mess and became the major storage place during the remodel of our house. We couldn't even see out that window.

Notice there's a Lambsfoot on the bench.:thumbsup:
Nice that you have a window...and a Lambsfoot...just sitting there, waiting to help you!:D:thumbsup:
Was hoping to go for a bike ride, but it's cool and rainy right now. Here's a pic from a sunny day:

Good morning, Guardians!
Nice shot of your Magnificent ironwood, Vince!
It's been back and forth here, right now it's cold, cloudy and getting ready to rain...
Such great photos, Dan! Cooler than the ice!:thumbsup:
Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. I guess my eyesight is failing, because I think you look great as well as everyone who also participated. There is no doubt that I would be a regular at the “Stalls.” Especially if you’re bringing fish and chips.:D

Good Afternoon Guardians.

Breakfast of Champions.

Hagging out with Jack and all you guys, with old tools, knives, and Harvey buying the pizza and beer!! A great gig that would be!:)
Fantastic pictures everyone!!!

Here is a post war era Wostenholm Lambsfoot sitting on an interesting movie brochure from 1944. If you zoom in, you can read the "Gaumont British News" clips along with "Australians in Action".
My Dad used to talk about the war news clips that were shown during movies throughout WWII.

And I guess fair is fair, I'll probably get banned from the whole internet, I don't have any of me on my phone, this one my wife just sent to me from her's that's why the heart. Us camping a couple years back.

Happy Saturday all!

Great to see you here Greg, I hadn't realised how long you had been away! Thanks for checking in, and catching up here :) Take care and stay safe

Thanks Jack! I’ve popped in here a time or to, so it hasn’t been a complete absence.

And, wilco, my friend. You, too!

Good to see you both back chaps.

Thanks, David!

So we’re all sharing photos here? It’s amazing how this thread has become a microcosm of The Porch. Lots of beverages and blades, tons of lounge-worthy comradery, and now traditional mugshots? :D

Sure, I’ll play. My wife took this of me a couple of months ago. It’s a rare shot where I’m not looking stiff in front of the camera.

Lambsfoot content: I had to break down several cardboard boxes the other day. I can’t begin to explain how soothing it was to strop my trusty lambsfoot and then feel it make easy work of those boxes. But, I know you understand. My frequent carries (buffalo, special rosewood, and Hartshead) are all due for some tune-ups. I should do that soon. It’ll be comforting, too.

Happy Saturday all!

Thank you Dennis !
Ice is melting fast , Trails are almost clear of it and we have resumed our normal walking routine.

Great shot Dennis !
Nice to put put a face to a fellow Guardian
Any other Guardians willing to join in the selfie challenge ? :)

Sorry I didn’t go back to find your post Vince, and mixed you up with John. But I knew someone mentioned Johnny Unitas, my childhood hero! I found this in my old stuff at my parents’ house, which I’m cleaning out. I had written to Unitas when I was a kid.
Johnny U was so cool. My favorite athlete in any sport (and I love baseball more than football).

My wife surprised me with an autographed photo one year. Probably my birthday.

I’ve kind of lost interest in American football, with so much expansion and so many other changes in the game. I’m more of a baseball fan too, but there again, I’m less and less interested in the game as it’s evolved into either home runs or strike outs. Hence my new fascination with the Premier League...
Lambsfoot Content!

Good day, Guardians. Got this old thing with me today.

Dandy shot, Matt!
Like most of his generation, he didn't talk about it much, and I actually know more about the different tank battles he was in from my father, who together with his younger brother, used to 'track' him during the war. He did once tell me a little about Tobruck specifically, and about his time in the North Africa though. He signed up in the Queen's Bays, a cavalry regiment, as a boy soldier, and went right through the war, Dunkirk, Tobruck, Al-Alamein, Monte Casino, and probably a lot of battles I've never heard of. He was blown up three times, crawling out from the belly of the tank through the dead bodies of his comrades. He spent some time with Americans towards the end of the war, and had a lot of respect and affection for the boys he met. A small man of only about 5ft 2", he never married, and the rest of his life was very dull. He used to tell me that he and his comrades had been promised 'A land fit for heroes'. He spent his last 20 years living in a small council flat, (apartment is not the correct translation), not much bigger than a prison-cell, and when he died of cancer, his life-savings were just enough to pay for his funeral :(
Damn sorry to hear about that, Jack. Unfortunately, veterans are usually low on the totem pole after the fighting is done. Afraid I don't have much else to say about that just now.

Thanks, Dan. I lost my train of thought earlier, I meant to mention how I've enjoyed seeing all the selfies!:thumbsup:

Heck, you look like a Spring Chicken, Dennis.:thumbsup:
Thanks, John...if I could feel that way!:cool::D:thumbsup:
Moore, not too far from Midwest City / Tinker.
Cool! My sons went to Moore schools, we lived off Markwell, then out past Tri-City, now off 12th and Western.
Retired from DPS, main campus off NE 36th & MLK.
