And here's a shot with his rosewood brother. As David pointed out, the pins are a bit more robust than usual.

And because I had to go into the pen to get them out, time for an updated flock photo :)

Very cool  , love it :)
Congrats

It's the nail nick different sizes between your two li'l ones ?

Yes. For some reason the rosewood Li'l guy has a shallower nail nick than all of the others. It made it really difficult to open when I first received it, but it got better once I broke the corner on the tang with a file to lighten the pull a bit.

Is that me hanging out between Frailer and JohnDF?
Howdy neighbor. :)

I decided I needed a few days away from the doom and gloom of the internet
I know, right?
This really has people seeing the dark side in everything.
I had hoped everybody could handle a few weeks of shut-down without melting down.
I'm using the time to catch up on some much needed projects and revisit the old art of phone conversation.

So folks I hope you enjoyed my mini diversion from the doom n gloom
Most definitely enjoyed David
Here is a pic of me from this past fall just before my community band concert started.

Great shot  ! What instrument do you play ?
Very nice shop, Dan. :cool::thumbsup:
Ty John, my tiny man cave, hope to use it more this season, it's really therapeutic.

Good day, Guardians! Hope everyone is staying safe and well these days.

Love all the great pics and stories that everyone is sharing. I am also really enjoying the number of AC knives being shown recently... still possibly my favorite knife to be shown on this forum.

Jelly and I played a quick game this morning. You decide who won!

Very nice :thumbsup::)
Dan, I always enjoy, admire, and envy your "nature photos"
Gracias Dennis :) ... and very nice to meet you on your pics :)
Most times I end up slowing down the family walk when I spot another "photo opportunity" lol. My wife and kids are good sports about it :)
Dan, feel free to begin an insect and lambsfoot series! :p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

These pics with the butterfly and bee were from last year :D.
Every time we see a caterpillar on the trail I am tempted to take a pic with my lamb but my wife tells me to leave the thing alone plus "it's just silly" she says :D
Caterpillars here I come now lol

I can't say as I'm even close to a meltdown, I'm pretty sure I fall into the skilled labor/safety category. Trees need to come down no matter what. My family as a whole is fairly self sufficient so we aren't worried about too much, but my goodness if you did nothing but read the news everyday you'd think the end was nigh... I had to unplug for a bit. Was pretty refreshing other than missing out on the guardians thread. :p
I really missed you guys!

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Here’s to both the new meds working to give you relief, and to finding a new Doctor. Your smashing Ironwood SFO was my first “Real Lamb Foot. Yet this thread is so much more. So much more.

donn donn - You keep outdoing yourself, David, with your super enjoyable ventures. Don’t stop.

@5K Qs - Fine portraits of you and Black Jack, GT.

Good Evening Guardians.

OM Goodness guys, I decided I needed a few days away from the doom and gloom of the internet and I find myself super behind in everything! Hope everyone is doing well. I spent at least one day of the last few with Rosie... She's getting on well enough. :)View attachment 1309479

Rosie looks well-loved Willie, good to have you back (don't miss my giveaway!) :)

Your new Little 'Un looks good Mike, are the bolsters new too, they look like stainless? Wow! That's quite a collection you have my friend, great to see them together  :)

Beautiful knives in those pictures!

Thank you

They stamp the nicks in by hand, so there's some variation. I had a different pattern from the same firm with a shallow nick, hated it. Mind you I have a custom with an even shallower nail-nick :(

Most of the British news is focused on London, which is a completely different country to where I live  Missed you too Willie!

Sincere thanks Harvey, that's a wonderful pic :)

Morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing OK, staying safe and well, and not going stir crazy yet ;) It's another bright sunny day here, so after I've had a shave, I might have my coffee out in the garden again. Take care everyone

I just watched one of my favourite sci-fi movies :)

No stunt doubles in those days! :eek I used to like Harry Langdon, incredible to think our great grandparents probably saw these films

Great film isn't it! The remake was almost unwatchable.
I know, I remember watching a documentary once about how all these silent movie actors were expected to do all their own stunts. Harold Lloyd really did hang off clocks 30 feet above the ground. Funny and brave.

Thanks for the history tour donn donn .

I enjoyed it very much David. Excellent post. Thank you for sharing. I appreciate your effort.

Excellent post, David.

David, thank you once again for a wonderful post. It’s great to have a visual as well as a mental break from the present day happenings! :D

Wonderful post, David. Nice knife too! :)

Most definitely enjoyed David

Thank you everyone, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
And of course great lambsfoot pictures everyone.

Thank you for an absolutely fascinating post David :) When all this 'stuff' is over, I think I may have to schedule a visit to Winchester :)

You should Jack. I've really enjoyed my non-foreign trips and getting to know my own country better.

donn donn - You keep outdoing yourself, David, with your super enjoyable ventures. Don’t stop.

Thanks Harvey though I'm not sure when the next one will be now.:(
Great picture btw.

I also enjoyed your Winchester photos (and @scrteened porch Jer's allusion to the novelty hit from late 1966 ;)). When I saw what turned out to be the Round Table on the wall of Winchester Castle's Great Hall, I at first identified it as a massive royal dartboard!! (And you mentioned that Frisians were a group that invaded "the island". I didn't know that, and I have strong Frisian ancestry!)

Thanks GT. I recall reading something in all the history I do read, though I may not be recalling this precisely right. The various groups didn't just settle everywhere, the split off and congregated in different areas. The Saxons settled mainly southern/south west England. The Angles northern and eastern England and the Jutes became the Mercians in the centre. But the Frisians were different. They did settle throughout the island as they were renowned as traders who were known as being fairly itinerant.

Good Morning Guardians
I'm trying to use my time at home wisely.
I've cleaned up my garage,

LOL! John. I think after this current drama the western world is going to have the cleanest garages in all of civilisation. I took a walk around my village yesterday and loads of folks were taking advantage of the great weather to sort out their garages.

Dang it, lost my donn donn quote. I was going to give you crap for saying the table has hung continuously on two different walls.
I knew that table was fake when I saw that there was no way to get 150 sieges around it.

I think it's interesting that Mallory puts Camelot in Winchester, because I believe Winchester is pretty close to Cadbury Castle, the iron age hill fort that was substantially refortified with timber and stone in Arthurian times, on a scale much larger than the similarly fortified royal stronghold at Dumbarton(?). [consider this an anecdote, because I'm too lazy to go grubbing for sources.}

I like Churchill on King Arthur: "It is all true, or it should be, and more and better besides."
Oh me of mickle faith; best picture out of one!
uYdczsq.jpg

Hi Jer thanks for the post. Aye I've heard of Cadbury Castle but didn't know exactly were it was. Somerset is a couple of counties over, but only about an hours drive away. That corner of England is very nice and rural, and contains a lot of ancient history.
The closest iron age hill fort to Winchester is St' Catherine's Hill, which is only a 15 minute walk out of the city. I did try to go up it but it was still a quagmire from the recent rains so turned round.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Catherine's_Hill,_Hampshire

Churchill was a wise chap and probably the last leader who came closest to fitting the ideal of Arthur. Which says it all really.:D

I'm going to have to buy a book on castles; I own several about churches and cathedrals, but not our castles.

In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.

Haha would you look at that! Where did you find that? And did you find the Holy Grail as well? :D

That's a great spring photo, David!!:thumbsup::cool: Do you have so many plants already blooming, leaves sprouting, green grass? Really looking forward to that, but still probably a month away for me. We do have some crocuses out currently, that seem not at all discouraged by the 3 inches of snow we woke up to Monday morning!:thumbsdown:

This week, my lambsfoot is Cracker Jack, my Ashley's Choice model. I noticed that the ACs are showing up frequently this week:

Hi GT , yip flowers are blooming, though the daffodils (yellow ones) are late winter/early spring anyway. We have though had a mild winter, but the last couple of weeks in England at least has had really nice weather. It was 18c in the garden yesterday. Unfortunately this weekend is forecast a brutal northerly with snow. It is only March of course so it's not a surprise.
Good to see the AC back; not seen many of them on the forum recently.

Thanks, and I think I can do that :D

That's a great collection there Mike, and that's a very handsome job done on those micarta covers on the swayback.

Most of the British news is focused on London, which is a completely different country to where I live

Everyone Jack is so right on this. If any of you watch British mainstream news media (eg, BBC) your not watching British news, your watching London news, and what the London-centric media elite wants everyone to think is happening in the UK. This has annoyed so many people that over the last few years millions of Brits have turned off domestic mainstream news media in the UK.:rolleyes:

This was yesterday, enjoying the nicest day we've had since last summer. I'll be toting my ironwood again today.

Thanks David! :) I hope you and Jack continue to have a streak of nice weather. It will give y'all a chance to take some more of those great photos for us to enjoy! :D

For some unknown reason I had a desire to pocket a Big Un this morning! ;) I also have noticed that some of you brave souls have been posting your selfies on the thread. It's nice to put a face with a name. My ugly mugg has been shown on here before, but I thought I could post another one. After all it also contains my grand dog Maggie! She makes the photo a little easier on the eyes. ;) Y'all stay safe out there!

It is David, and the remake was absolutely awful, and thankfully has died without trace o_O Oh yes, definitely, I think stuntmen were superfluous in those days - those actors were hungry and fearless! Here's the great Buster Keaton:
