Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Looks good, Jack! I wish pasties and (savory) pies were more common here in the US. When we lived in Arizona, there was a place called the Cornish Pasty Company that was pretty good. In addition to traditional fillings, they had some more unique offerings. I like their bacon cheeseburger pasty, which they called the “Royale with Cheese.” :D

Thanks GT! I’m not sure anyone really decides on the theme du jour; they just sort of happen! :D

LOL! Very clever Barrett :D

I guess you could truthfully say I’m having a Radiant Day Jack! :D “The Arabatarsh”, I guess I would fit that nickname too Jack! ;) A good shave and haircut too! And a tasty snack! I’m glad you and your Ebony big’un are enjoying your day Jack! :D

Good stuff Ron, that Radiant really is a beauty :) I just realised I made a typo when telling you that story, for the record it's actually Arbatarsh - don't want you getting into trouble on my account! ;) :D Thanks pal

Well that was over five years ago Harry! Back then only us dedicated lovers of the Lambsfoot would have been interested in a knife like the Radiant. And there wasn’t very many of us back then! I shudder to think what I would have to bid to get it in today’s market! I hope y’all have a great Easter my friend! Our regards to your lovely bride! :D

It doesn't seem long ago does it Ron? We've created a monster! :D UK residents have not been able to bid for more than a decade now, but I notice that, even here, I come across far less Lambsfoot knives than I once did, even though they have long been the most prevalent traditional pattern

You ought to get some Kinky Boots, Jack:

I think they'd definitely make my feet sore Vince! :D Why did they make that awful song?! Sad to see that Honor Blackman passed away last week, at the grand old age of 94 :(

Happy Easter, Guardians!

Lovely pic Vince

I’m not sure the official name, Jack, but the one in the picture was called “serrated weed cutter” or something uninspiring like that. I like Half/Stop Half/Stop ‘s name: sling blade.

That's the sort of name they'd come up with in Sheffield Joshua :D Ron's name is cool  :D

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well.

Wow, what a great pic Dave, wish I had some baguettes for breakfast :) I did have a couple of pikelets I defrosted yesterday, but there's not much to them

Great pic of your stag HHB, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

...

I appreciate the compliment, Jack. :)
Your color-coordinated knife and slingshot are quite debonair!!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks for the compliments my friend

These themes just depend on spontaneous consensus?!!?:eek:
I'd certainly feel more comfortable if there was a "designated decider" that made these decisions in advance!:D

:D

Thanks for the interesting info/pic regarding gaiters, Jack; I have no experience at all with that approach.:thumbsup:
Thanks also for the movie recommendation. :) I think many recent students have used the phrase "incredibly dated" in reference to me, but they have NOT gone on to call me "a classic".:rolleyes:

It's a very wet country here Gary  There was a time when I almost always wore gaiters when walking in the hills and mountains (apart from in the summer), but I don't do that sort of rugged walking much anymore, sadly. I have a couple of Gore-Tex pairs, but the best pair I had were made from cotton duck  LOL! :D I can relate to that! :D

I've got several flock fotos, so I guess I'll post another here:

Another great pic

Thanks Jack. All is well so far pal. Stay safe.

Thanks Dwight, good to hear my friend :)

Thank you Guardians ! I will certainly pass your kind words and compliments to my daughters.
They fill our house with music and it sometimes makes me feel like I am enjoying this on borrowed time ... one day they will leave the nest ... but their music will always live on in my heart !

...

My starter has not achieved full strength yet (day 7 ).
So I used the part that was to be discarded at "feeding" time , added yeast as a back up and started experimenting :) while my starter continues to mature.

My first load was a  ... so no pictures ;)

Here are my second and third loaves ( sourdough starter and yeast )
The womenfolk in my household ate most of it already :)

Awww :)

Is there no end to your talents Dan?! :D That bread looks very tasty, nicely photographed too :)

Thank you Jack. Sure looks like you’re making the best of things. I have that sense of time standing still. But I’m used to it, because I’m retired and have adapted. I feel for the many who have to follow the clock, suddenly stopped. It’s a real cultural shift. This crisis will recede, but many societal/world changes will follow. For now, I can only mourn all the loss and suffering.

Hope your Easter was a good one.

Good Evening Guardians.

Well, I mainly work from home, and am busier than ever - probably a little more work and a LOT more emails and phone calls to deal with, and of course The Porch is busier - so things are a little different for me than many. I guess if you were retired and lived in a rural setting here, you maybe wouldn't notice too much. Thank you for your kind words Harvey, that's a stunning image of your Rosewood Hartshead Barlow, thank you for all the care you put into your photos :)

Humphrey's Radiant, Joseph Rodgers, TEW... so nice to see them all! Maybe we can convince Jack Black Jack Black or @Cambertree to bring out their Unity Lambsboot knives for a taste of sunshine as well. :)

Your wish is my command Greg! :D Carrying my Unity Lambsfoot today, and maybe if I rub it hard enough @Cambertree will appear! :D

They are strange times indeed, Jack. I've also been feeling a bit out-of-sorts as the days go by.

Keeping a full beard, I've gotten lazy over the past year or so with the little bit of shaving that I do on my cheeks and neck. I've been using a Gillette Sensor Excel (never could get into cartridges with more than two blades...). But, you inspired me today, Jack and I soaked my badger brush in hot water, opened up a new Feather blade for my Merkur, and lathered up with some Trumper Sandalwood shaving cream (didn't take much!). It felt nice to shave properly, even if was only a bit that needed to be shaved.

Doesn't it make a difference Greg? :)

Thanks! I briefly toyed with taking a picture with the HHB on top of that picture, then taking a picture of my HHB on top of that, then... but decided the better of it. :)

:D

Sounds like a fine evening, Jack. And tastier and more fun than supermarket lasagne! :D

Definitely Greg! :D I bought the lasagne when it was on offer! Unfortunately, I defrosted it, so I'm going to have to have it tonight, it doesn't look up to much! o_O

I hope everyone's had a wonderful day. Mine was much busy that has been normal lately, but it was a good day with some good eating, phone calls with family, and a couple of walks with my wife and our dogs.

93xnXK3h.jpg

Sounds like you had a great day my friend, you're making me hungry! :D :)

Morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a decent weekend. I finished my bottle of wine while watching a little TV (Killing Eve). It's a public holiday here, but I really need to get some work done. I guess some of you will be returning to work today, and most won't. Whatever your situation, take care Guardians, and stay safe

My Unity Lambsfoot :)

Half/Stop Half/Stop - Thank you Ron. We both got lucky. That’s for sure.
We certainly did Harvey! Stay safe my friend! :)

Ron and Barrett, I'm going to have to find my way to a Nando's now. :) Looks like Illinois is the closest to me, too, so it may be a while...
Their food is great Greg! They sell the sauces and spices in some retail stores. I think they used to sell them on line too, but I’m not sure they still do. They have a good web site. :)

I love seeing these old ones come out. Such character!

Humphrey's Radiant, Joseph Rodgers, TEW... so nice to see them all! Maybe we can convince Jack Black Jack Black or @Cambertree to bring out their Unity Lambsboot knives for a taste of sunshine as well. :)
I totally agree with you Greg! I probably won’t be acquiring anymore oldies unless I get extremely lucky. :(

Good stuff Ron, that Radiant really is a beauty :) I just realised I made a typo when telling you that story, for the record it's actually Arbatarsh - don't want you getting into trouble on my account! ;) :D Thanks pal
Thanks Jack! I’m glad I didn’t mess up!  :D

It’s not been that long at all Jack! I guess people are just realizing what a good thing they had been missing out on. :)

My Unity Lambsfoot :)

Thanks Jack! I know your Unity is a beauty my friend! I’m not seeing some people’s photos this morning, but it’s probably got something to do with my internet!

We experienced a very stormy evening yesterday. We have had possibly 8 tornadoes in my area. We’ve got over 60,000 without power in one neighboring county and five confirmed fatalities in another. :( Our power was out from 11:00 pm until 3:30 am. Luckily our home was spared. They are still surveying all the damage in my county, but I know my county has over 3500 without power! We spent several hours in our basement with our bicycle helmets on! I’ve seen the destruction from these storms before and they are not to be taken lightly! Stay safe my friends. :)

CelloDan - Your daughters performed Kol Nidrei beautifully, Dan.
Gracias Harvey !
As I try to wake up and start my work day from home at the computer my youngest is already going at it with her violin .... I hear a Bach partita coming from the basement where she practices :) ... I wish I had half her energy :)
That bread looks very tasty, nicely photographed too :)
Thanks Jack, I am going to need to walk double the distance now to burn the extra carbs :) .... and get double the pictures lol

Good morning Guardians !

WhittlinAway WhittlinAway - Thank you kindly, Greg. Good looking snack image.

Thanks, Harvey. :)

Yay! Thanks, Jack!

Yes, maybe two mentions and a rub of a magic lambsfoot will wake him from his BF slumber. I hope he’s doing OK and just busy as he gets from time to time.

Doesn't it make a difference Greg? :)

Indeed!

Definitely Greg! :D I bought the lasagne when it was on offer! Unfortunately, I defrosted it, so I'm going to have to have it tonight, it doesn't look up to much! o_O

Well, hopefully you have a good supply of crushed red pepper. That’s my go to helper for making dishes like that more interesting. ;)

It's a public holiday here, but I really need to get some work done. I guess some of you will be returning to work today, and most won't. Whatever your situation, take care Guardians, and stay safe

Thanks, Jack. Good luck catching up with your work.

Stay safe, folks. I hope some little bright sides and unexpected joys make an appearance in everyone’s weeks.

Thanks for the tip, Ron. I’ll check it out.

At least there are several beauties like yours in circulation here for us all to admire.

Thank Greg and John! :) We were fortunate this time. But we've still got that darn virus to worry about! :(

Nice! I hadn't heard of them, but the seasoning had a very nice flavor. It has the peppers along with some salt and herbs.

If I remember correctly, piri piri peppers have been grown for centuries in parts of Africa.

Storms were very bad here in the South. At least 18 dead, hundreds of homes and businesses destroyed, a million or more without power. Bad all around. Glad you all are safe.

Just having my spare pastie and a Royal Gala for lunch

I believe you are correct on the peppers Les! Thanks for the well wishes. It was a very stormy Easter in the south.
