It would appear that this Jack BlackJack Black Hartshead Barlow is washed out by the sun light; however, as evidenced by the second picture taken only moments later in a more shadowed location, it is not. Both pictures show the same beginnings of patina - just in a different light. Anyway, I thought this thread could use a couple of afternoon pictures.

Oh, in the first picture, notice the verdigris working it's way up the lower brass pin to the rosewood cover.

My buffalo horn lambsfoot showed up today and happy to say its a much nicer example than my large rosewood was. Hard to capture in photos but the horn has nice looking color striations and the back cover has some lighter shades as well. I do like the size better than the large also. I think its a keeper this time.
Doing some yard clean-up today, and I had to take apart an old, broken leaf sweeper.
A lambsfoot slashes through rubberized canvas pretty well.

Thank you, Jack! I hope your back recovers quickly! Fine pic of your Hartshead, very artistic.
Serves me right for not paying closer attention - I think another member somewhere else was talking about a dish they used some venison on. Regardless, your veggie soup still looks fantastic. I've become quite fond of our Instant Pot as well.
Thank you for the compliment - fine pic of a fine knife you are toting today!
Thank you, Harvey! When the weather is good, as it's been lately, it's a great place to send an evening.
Excellent grain on that TEW.
Very rich horn on that one, congrats!
Excellent pic, John!
The good Ol' AC for me this evening.

Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Feel better, Bud.
JohnDF - Thank you John. The little fella has the chops to take on minor tasks, but it’s more of a collectible. Tough as nails, though. Sweet sunset image.
@Pàdruig - Thank you Dylan. Look at the Stag on your AC. Super nice.
I actually should have called the food something like “Southern Cuisine”, David.I would still be eating it even if I had money growing on trees!
We’re actually still eating the same food we were before all this happened! We’re just taking more photos!

That’s a nice sunny photo. I’m glad you and Jack are at least having a run of nice weather! Stay safe!

Wright's get their Rosewood from Indonesia, but decades ago, it came from Africa. Last year, they found a small amount of African Rosewood in one of the factory attics, and so I was able to get some knives made up with it. It's a little darker, and more uniform in colour than the Indonesian Rosewood. I'll go and take a comparative pic shortly![]()
Pretty similar, but I know a guy who ignored symptoms too long, and now he has to wait to have his heart shocked out of fibrillation until after this is over, if this is ever over, or the rules change, or I trust if the meds stop being enough.

Thanks. Yup, that's my new-to-me deer gun. I tried to take it to the range yesterday, but the road was blocked and I've been known to have unhappy results improvising on country roads. I have a plan now to approach the club from the other side, which should work, assuming I don't run into more construction that google doesn't know about.
Blue skies, green grass, and a Lambsfoot... what's not to like?![]()
Looks like my most recent Wright. Pity my grey hairs.

Thank you very much RonI think the chances of getting one like that today would be very low indeed. Another member here asked me if I could pick him one up just after, I went to the same store about 5 times, and not one of the ones they had in stock was decent. Unfortunately most of the outlets that sell these knives don't even care about quality, they don't check their stock, and they don't send anything back. A phrase I've heard from Wright's in recent times is, "You're the only one who complains." Yes I do, 20% of the Hartshead Barlows went back, because they weren't good enough. It was a pain in the backside to have to take them back, but I didn't want any knives which were second-rate. I think that firm would rather turn out second-rate goods, and sadly, they deal with people who are willing to accept it from them, or too clueless to spot the faults

Thank you, my friend! I took some inspiration from Harvey's skillfully done pictures - he is a master at capturing interesting textures and effects.
I missed the Rosewood memo today but I did bring some Ironwood out.

No problem Dylan. There's a lot going on here and it's easy to get mixed up sometime.Serves me right for not paying closer attention - I think another member somewhere else was talking about a dish they used some venison on. Looking good David. Thanks Ron. Your like me; I could win the lottery tomorrow and I'd still just eat spam butties or a pork pie.
Strictly speaking Wednesday evening.

And everyone's been posting pics of their flocks recently. Here's an updated one of mine.

I hope everyone has a nice Friday planned.![]()
Hope you feel better soon Jack. Back problems are one big pain in the backsideNice to see the contrast between those two pics Ed
I often notice the nail-nick of knives I've photographed, and think!
Looks like you got a nice one there![]()

Nice work Rachel![]()
Thanks a lot Dylan, I appreciate that buddyAnother great pic of your AC
Many thanks Harvey![]()
Morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well. I was hoping my back would be a bit better today, but unfortunately the reverse is true. No pics today I'm afraid as I can't get my backside into my computer chair! Hopefully it'll be ok in a day or two (when I'll then have a mountain of washing-up) Have a good day Guardians, take care, and stay safe

Now somebody needs to take a black light picture to really freak us out.I often notice the nail-nick of knives I've photographed, and think!

Sorry to hear that, Jack. I was hoping you'd be up and around.I was hoping my back would be a bit better today, but unfortunately the reverse is true. No pics today I'm afraid as I can't get my backside into my computer chair!
I'd walk the other direction. The explosive dumps behind the grey fence. The motorway behind the explosive dumps. And behind the motorway the town of Leigh; the poorest and most deprived town in the north-west of England.
A little bit of everything in there.
Black coffee and black Lambsfoot... Great evening combination.
Hi David, your HHB stag shows similar coloration as mine:Thanks Ron. Your like me; I could win the lottery tomorrow and I'd still just eat spam butties or a pork pie.
Thanks Jack, I actually thought it was the other way round.
Aye all this lock down fiasco is a good reminder not to put off health related matters as anything could happen at anytime. I need a couple of dental fillings which got delayed (I had a bad cold) and then the amended appointment got cancelled cos of the lock down.
I know lots of people who are finding Google doesn't seem to know about lots of things anymore, or is just plain wrong. We've got so used to just 'googling' stuff we just accept the information as fact. Everything from recipes to traffic updates is wrong.
I hope you'll get to the range sometime. It's nice to see a rifle that would actually be legal to own in the UK.

Nice pic' of your flock there. I like the EO modification on the lowest one.
We definitely appreciate your efforts Jack.
Aye you guys should do a portfolio of your photos.
Last week snow. This week snakes. You live in a crazy part of the world Dan.
Nice find there. Those buffalo covers look great.
Strictly speaking Wednesday evening.
