Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

John, great looking HHB.
Thank you, Bill. :)

Yours is great looking too.:thumbsup:

Since we’ve been on the topic of stakes... there are no vampires in my backyard—at least that I know of, but something has been snatching a bite or two from our produce overnight—but we do have an espalier Meyer Lemon tree that is heavy with young lemons and threatening to succumb to its own weight. So, out came the carving hatchet and the lambsfoot.

The hatchet made quick work of sharpening the end of a redwood board that I had left over from previous project.

I then pounded the stake into the ground and secured the tree with a length of that green plastic garden tie stuff. The lambsfoot cut the material to length, of course. I took this picture just before the tying.

As usual, having a lambsfoot at hand made one of life’s chores a bit more fun.

I hope there are a few other lambsfoot knives getting a weekend workout courtesy of their Guardians today. Ya’ll know that working breeds get bored and mischievous if they aren’t put to use, right? :D

It smells great! I may sit outside with my son later, smoking cigars and drinking whiskey. Maybe. Got him some Four Roses Small Batch Select for his birthday (Monday, but celebrating today). He might bring me something, as tomorrow is Father's Day. :) He usually gives me Scotch or bourbon. Wife's making chicken piccata with pasta and roasted vegetables, daughter is making tiramisu, and I'm making a salad and pouring the wine. (I have the tough job!)
I guess it's late "over there", but hope you have a nice evening and a wonderful Sunday.

That sounds absolutely perfect Vince :) Many Happy Returns to your son :)

Cheers Jack. That reminds me I've got to get to the local farm shop and pick me up some fresh Henderson's.

Don't run out of that David! ;)

Errr I've got in my head bicarbonate of soda for odours that don't wash out??

Thanks for the tip David, that sounds familiar, and I'm thinking of one or two other things from my childhood now too :) Of course, at one time I could have just put it on, and walked through Sheffield's East End! That would have certainly disguised the smell of coffee! :D

You won't have to Jack. Something tells me everyone in Leeds will be able to listen to that racket sat in the lounge.

I think the loudest gig I ever heard, that I wasn't at, was when Bruce Springsteen was playing Sheffield's United's ground (won't call it a stadium, because it isn't) about 1987. You could hear it 3 miles away!

Yeah, we never used to have them. Apparently they came over on Scandinavian lumber imports?? Not sure how they figured that out though. I love those woods; looks like somewhere you could build a den and self-isolate.

Inspired by Les's post.

I hope you all have a great summer solstice planned.

I didn't know that David  I'll never spend another penny at IKEA! :D Great pic, brings back lots of childhood memories  :)

I'm guessing it was because of his age. My father never had a weird '70s haircut-- he wore it same as he did in the '30s, '40s, & '50s, and got a haircut every two weeks or so. Normal haircut, like Sinatra, Dean Martin, or Cary Grant. I, however, was a teenager in the '70s and unfortunately had long hair for a few years. :p

Mine was regularly over my collar as a young 'un Vince! :D

Good afternoon Guardians - just got back from the links. Decided to treat myself for Father's Day. Hope all you fathers out there have a real fine weekend - mine's shaping up just great.

Good work Greg, pounding in this stake, 3 months ago, is what set off my Tennis Elbow again o_O

At least I'm a stake-holder

My Lambsfoot has mainly been liberating beer from its plastic and cardboard prison today ;) :D

That sounds like a lovely time, Vince. Enjoy!

Yikes, Jack! I remember that picture, but hadn’t caught the connection with your tennis elbow flare up. It shall henceforth be known as stake-pounder’s elbow. :D

Beer liberation is a noble pursuit and one at which the lambsfoot excels.

When it’s hot and muggy, it’s time for a drink and televised sports.

... and lime slicing is another! Your beverage looks might refreshing, Dave. Enjoy those sports.

Yes, I had asked my wood-hoarding neighbour for a small piece of scrap wood to affix a sign to. He had insisted on making me a proper stake, but it was more than twice the length, and twice the girth that I had wanted, so instead of just being able to push it into the soft ground, I had to mallet it, with considerable force, for some time. Still suffering three months later o_O I prefer that term Greg, never having played tennis, I don't really like the association  :D

Wait a minute, I didn’t know you were a Razorback fan! :p

;)

Good Morning Guardians! Happy Father's Day to all the dads, and Happy Summer Solstice too :) Here, the 21st June is generally the day when folks celebrate by moaning more than ever about the rotten weather, and speculate whether or not we'll "have a summer at all" However, just as I type, the grey clouds have parted, the rain has stopped, and the sun is tentatively appearing in the Yorkshire sky ;) I don't have much planned today, but there are plenty of things for me to be getting on with in the house  Have a great Sunday folks

Thought I'd have a Double Lambsfoot Day  :)

Nice photos Greg. Are those limes or lemons?:D
Just having my morning coffee with my two pals

You couldn't ask for better "pals" than those two excellent lambfoot knives.:D:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Just had my Sunday Sausage Sammich! :)

Jack, I am out of sausage so I had to settle for a bagel and cream cheese. You HHB looks right at home with the sausage and home baked?) bread.;)

Jose`, your green lambfoot really stands out and I really like the jigging on the covers as well.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Dave, Head to know for sure if there is vodka or gin in that refreshing drink (or maybe no liquor at all:D) but it looks very inviting - nice photo. Your HHB looks fabulous and right at home.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Bill :) That's a coincidence, I am sat here spreading cream cheese on Ritz crackers with my Hartshead Barlow! :D Hope you enjoyed your bagel Bill :) That bread was sourdough from Leeds Bread Co-op, I actually prefer soft rolls for a sausage sandwich, but sometimes you got to make do ;) :D
