Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians! I’m going to spend some time with my Rosewood Hartshead SFO today. Y’all please be safe and careful out there! :)

Thanks Ron. Big Rosie’s looking great. I like that patina very much as it is. I’m thinking of stropping my Ol’ Ironsides clean again though - poking around in salty oyster shells has given it a few deeper patches of patina than I normally like!
Thanks Chin! :) Big Rosie is one that gets more than it’s fair share of use. Including everything from mail and cardboard to any kind of food. The patina is not attractive but it was earned honestly! ;) I bet those salty oysters would be rough on the finish. Great photos again my friend. Keep them coming! :)

Lagavulin 16 is a luxury bottle for me, I believe the last bottle lasted me a little over a year:)

Hahaha, Hollister Mo is an obscure city despite being a stones throw from Branson:D

That's a great picture Barrett, interesting looking dandelion and burdock brew:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Barrett :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I love Islay whisky! Lagavulin 16 is my favorite, but I probably drink more Laphroaig because it costs about half as much. :D

Nice photos, Rob. I was racking my brain trying to think of where Hollister was in southern MO. Eventually had to look it up, then I felt like an idiot. I grew up in NWArk, and we took at least one family trip to Branson every summer for the majority of my childhood. :D

Another recycled Lambsfoot pic today.

Great stuff! :) Congratulations to your lad John :)

Oh yes Bill, there's quite a price leap between some of those malts! Trying a glass at a bar first is always a good idea, who wants to buy a pig in a poke?! ;) :D

Good call Les :) Lagavulin 16 has been my favourite malt since I was in my 60's, and a favourite of Onebigbill Onebigbill too I think :) I've not had The Distiller's Edition though, nor even seen it - though I walk around with my eyes shut half the time! :D Nice pic

You should call round Bill, I've got a reasonable arsenal in at the moment! :D ;)

Beautiful pics Dan :)

Couple of pics from this evening

Your brews keep good company...the HHB and you my friend.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Here is a picture I took when I got the Lagavulin. Didn’t realize it had been 5 years. :p

That looks to be a 16 year oil to me Les. I have got to get me one of those!:):thumbsup::thumbsup:

LOL, cheers mate! Yeah, the flavours and scents of those three chilli powders are distinctly different. The Moruga Scorpion and Carolina Reaper approach ‘Weapons Grade’ level though!

I’m glad you’re enjoying the Ghost seasoning - it’s one of my favourites for flavour and heat. The ‘Ghost’ name is a bit of marketing that was applied to sell the chilli type in the US. It’s a regional chilli pepper from Nagaland in India called Bhut Jolokia. Apparently the people of the surrounding states credit the use of the chilli with contributing to the fierce tempers and headhunting practices of the tribes of Nagaland!

I tried to grow a few White Ghosts this past season, but unfortunately the cultivar doesn’t seem very stable yet. Most of the plants exhibited genetic leaf diseases, although I got a few pods, which were extremely flavourful.

This pic shows one of the white pods:

Thanks mi amigo, that’s a cracking picture, yourself. I love the textures of the stag and wood burl, it really looks great. And what superlative knives those Hartsheads are.

Thanks for the links and info on the Navvies too.

Cheers mate, yeah we had booked an AirB&B holiday house on Phillip Island a couple of weekends ago for my Mum’s 70th. Luckily we were able to go.

I was also very pleased that I got to take my Mum to a beach with some good binoculars and we spotted a pod of Orcas waaaayy out at sea, rounding up mackerel. The circling seabirds are what to watch for. When I say we saw Orcas, it was actually their black sail-like dorsal fins cutting the water, but it was still very cool.

Congratulations to your son on passing his drivers test. That’s a fine pup you have too. Here, we just call them Red Heelers.

Hey Dylan, whoa that’s a lovely bit of photography brother! Superb knife too and looks like a nice cigar and drop of whiskey to enjoy with it.

Chin, as always you post some really great stuff and the photos are so very nice. I really look forward to your posts my friend.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sun came out for a minute or two and now the heavy rain is here:(. Lucky I have a photo to remind me of the good weather (recycled photo) . Here in southern NC we have had our share of the wet stuff. I'm thinking of starting a mushroom farm :D:D:D.

Thanks Les, plenty of info on the box. How did you find it compared to the standard 16?

Equally as good if not better. Came highly recommended from my son.

That looks to be a 16 year oil to me Les. I have got to get me one of those!:):thumbsup::thumbsup:

If you run up on a bottle somewhere I believe you will be quite pleased with it.

It's definitely become a lot more expensive than in the past Rob :( I usually had 7 or 8 bottles on the go at once, sometimes more, so it takes a while to get through them usually

What a superb pair! :)

I'll definitely look out for it Les, thanks :) Nice pic of your horn Lambsfoot

Good Morning Guardians and anyone else looking in.

Can't tell you guys and gals how many times the Ugly's came in handy during my 24-years in the Navy and the shipyards and power company after I retired from the Navy. Now it's come in handy as an interesting background for the SFO Rosewood Hartshead Barlow.

Prices have jumped in the US recently due to an increase on the import tariff:( so unfortunately I now lean towards American distlled spirits, there's some really good American single malts to be found. Here's one I tried recently that is excellent :thumbsup: Availability is limited but hopefully it will become more readily available.
Thanks for the compliment Jack:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I can't say I blame you Rob :) It's always been my experience that when Americans really put their mind to doing something, they really excel at it :)

Beautiful landscape, Jack.

My oldest son served 12 years in the Navy as a submariner. He is a trial director with a company in Florida that works with the Navy so he still goes out on subs every so often.

I read an interesting article about aging whiskey. It talks about the effects of temperature fluctuations, barometric pressure, and such. Here's a link if anyone is interested.

Respect for your acts of kindness, my friend. And you managed to make a great image of your Horn Lamb Foot, too.
Thank you very much for the kind words, Harvey!:)
Good on you and your compatriots mate, fantastic to see your community minded spirit, sometimes it takes adversity to bring out the good in people, and always the cream rises to the top. And you my friend are " Pure Bred Jersey Cow Cream ". Well done, and hope you are going okay. Look after yourself in these uncertain times.:):):):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thank you very much, just glad we were in a position to help.
I don't know about the cream, but my wife does tell me I'm full of BS!:D

I finally got my hands on the last 3 issues of the magazine yesterday though, and so I was able to read Christopher's excellent article in full
Glad the damn is starting to bust loose, Jack! Seems like that young man is on the fast track to making a good name for himself!:)
So do you put a wedge of watermelon in

Not sure why they changed the name from "Heeler" to "Cattle Dog"
I always called them "Heeler" as well, thought Cattle Dog was just their job title. Either way, glad you picked up the little fella!

I have Ohm's Law burnt into my mushy brain, being in radio and electronics repair for the last 20 years. Went to Ft Gordon for the school, then was stationed at Orlando at the Navy NTC, a really big change for an Army grunt! Met some good Navy folks, was pretty good friends with our neighbor, he was a SeaBee.
