Sorry for missing your post before Dylan, hope you're keeping well my friend. Looks like another nice evening on your b

I read an interesting article about aging whiskey. It talks about the effects of temperature fluctuations, barometric pressure, and such. Here's a link if anyone is interested.

Interesting article Rob, thanks for the link :thumbsup:

Thank you so much, Gary! It would be hard pressed for me to choose between Ironwood and Ebony. Jack Black Jack Black did an outstanding job riding shotgun on these knives! I need to pick up an ebony hafted one soon.:thumbsup:

Here's a pic of my Rosewood Lambsfoot Knives :)

On the left is one of a short SFO run I had made up with African Rosewood. Next to it is another short-run SFO with Indonesian Rosewood, and a polished blade. In the centre is a standard A. Wright & Son Lambsfoot and Pen, with Indonesian Rosewood. Next is my Hartshead Barlow in Indonesian Rosewood. On the right is the Big 'Un I'm carrying today, also in Indonesian Rosewood :thumbsup:

A nice comparison photo of the Rosewoods Jack! Thanks for sharing this my friend! :thumbsup: The African Rosewood appears to have a richer darker coloring. That’s one I sadly missed. Great choice with your Big 'Un today Jack. :thumbsup: I’m assuming my off the shelf, probably a second, sold on the big auction site, solid, dependable and certainly a favorite, Rosewood Big ‘Un is most certainly Indonesian Rosewood! :D

Thanks Ron, yes, the African Rosewood is generally darker than the Indonesian, though the colour of the latter seems to vary greatly. Sorry you missed that one, I think there was only enough African Rosewood for 10. Wright's have used Indonesian Rosewood for many years :thumbsup:

Today I’m carrying my Wright’s Ironwood Big ‘Un. ;) Y’all be careful out there! :) :thumbsup:

That looks great Ron, can you just remind me was it @glennbad who re-covered it for you? Great job anyway :) :thumbsup:

Was it this one Ron (a second)? Excuse my memory, it is getting terrible! :eek:

Yes it was recovered by @glennbad. As usual Glenn did a marvelous job! This stunningly beautiful Horn covered knife was actually the one Jack. I deeply regretted it at the time, but the Horn was warped and pulled away from the bolsters so much I felt I had no choice. I tried everything I could, but it wouldn’t return to normal. :( Looking back now with the beautiful and unique Ironwood in hand, the only thing I regret is not having Glenn to send me the Horn scales for a keepsake. I might could have made a key fob or something from them. :) :thumbsup:

Beautiful heeler, John!
Thanks, Dennis. :)
They are pretty dogs.

That is all my sister and BIL has ever had since they've been married. They still run a lot of cattle, and those are just some incredible dogs! Very smart.
Too smart for their own good.
Border Collies are smart and well-behaved... Heelers are smart and devious. ;)

I always called them "Heeler" as well, thought Cattle Dog was just their job title.
Ya... for some reason they changed their name to Cattle Dog.
I still refer to them as Queensland Heelers... Old habits. :D

Patina is looking good, John!
Thanks, Dennis. :)
Patina-Flitz-Repeat...

Great picture, Dennis. :cool::thumbsup:

we go back into lock down for 6 weeks
Sorry to hear that. I'm waiting for us to do the same thing, people aren't behaving as they should.

Great picture, Jack. :cool::thumbsup:

Beautiful rose garden, Jack. :cool::thumbsup:

I wonder... Are your beans hot or cold?

That wood is spectacular! :cool::thumbsup:

I use the exact same sharpening system. :cool::thumbsup:
I usually clamp the bolster into the vice, it's the only way it works with the narrow blades..

Fantastic shot of your horn lambsfoot and sheath by John:eek::thumbsup:
Thanks Dennis :thumbsup:
A Super Two for Tuesday, Rob! Both are lookers!:cool::thumbsup:

Good Morning Guardians
Like Dennis, I can't wait for the Fall camping trips.
Nice Ironwood John! :thumbsup: I haven’t camped in years but I would most certainly appreciate some fall temperatures and lower humidity! :eek: :D

Thanks for reminding me Ron :) Glenn certainly did a fantastic job, I remember all the problems you had with it now (your pic below). That horn was very troublesome, particularly on the Big 'Uns. Wright's told me they were going to start adding an extra pin, but I don't know if that actually happened. It might be worth asking about the old covers Ron, you never know, Glenn might still have them? The horn was certainly very attractive :thumbsup:

Thanks a lot John :) The beans are definitely hot, don't want to end up like this guy! ;) :D :thumbsup:

That is my photo Jack. I’m glad you were able to find it because I couldn’t readily find it. I’ll wait to see if Glenn reads this since we both quoted his user name. If he does have the Horn maybe he’ll reach out to me. :) :thumbsup:
