Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Jack Black Jack Black -Good morning Jack and all my fellow Guardians! I'm alive and doing well, thanks my friend. Just less free time than ever, it seems.

Taking care of 7 different people in 4 different homes has been quite a challenge these last four months. Both my parents and my wife's parents all have underlying health conditions as well as pushing 80 yrs of age, and all a bit stubborn... so we've been doing ALOT of grocery shopping, filling prescriptions, and counseling -haha- (trying to keep everyone sane and happy) They all live within 2 miles of us so that is good. Also, trying to prepare for school opening back up while our cases begin to soar. Literally four times as many as when they shut down before. I just don't get it. Well, I do, it's all about the $$, not peoples health or life, but I digress.

Anyway, I check in when I can and try to follow this thread as best I can. USPS is still in shambles in my city. I hear others talk about no postal delays and whatnot, but I can assure you that's not been my experience. My local branch is shut down, after opening for a short time, and the main branch where I need to go now is absolutely packed, mostly with folks who refuse to wear a mask. @Pàdruig @CelloDan -Linus is still on my desk boxed up awaiting his shot at moving on.

I've been doing a lot of home improvements and grilling out and I really enjoy spending all my time with my wife and son, so that part has been wonderful! Great to catch up with you and thanks for your photos and hiking adventures, I've been enjoying them!:thumbsup:

Here's my 2019 Ironwood sfo with some grilled proteins.;) As you can probably tell, it's been a constant companion.

Someday they should check what gastro means around here. They 'd understand why so few continentals stop by... :) (Audi still wonders why so few -if any- E-tron sold here as well...)

Somewhere I'd avoid like the plague Alain, they usually have nothing in common with a traditional pub, and little, if anything, in the way of good, wholesome food - more gastroenteritis than gastronomy!

That's the classic Lucy picture.:thumbsup:

But this one sure is beautiful.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks a lot John :D :)

Good Morning Guardians
These two seem to get the lion's share of pocket time.

Great to see those two together :)

Great to see you here Mark, and thanks for letting us know how you've been doing - busy it seems! I'm glad that you're all keeping well despite the terrible situation, and that you're eating well! Nice patina on your ebony '18 my friend :) I've only cooked out once, and it was way back in March or April, when we had much better weather than we are now o_O Sorry to hear about the situation with the USPS :( Things are far from back to normal with the mail here, but they had the cheek to sneakily put up overseas postage by quite a big lump last week o_O Stay safe Mark, and enjoy your weekend buddy

I received this Standard Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers some time ago.

After a bit of use it turned into this.

I turned to Jason @Signalprick to see if he could recover the knife and he accepted the challenge.

This is what he sent back to me. A wonderfully recovered Lambfoot with "Snakewood" covers. He did a great job. Notice the thin Red G-10 accent liners and notice the well centered blade with the blade tip nestled nicely in the frame.

I just got the knife out of our mail box 30-minutes ago. More and better pictures to follow when the lighting is better.
Jason @Signalprick does fine work. I may see about having him do some work for me too.
Good morning Guardians !
Got up a little while ago and took a little walk, snapped a few pics of my Hartshead :)
We are at Chaffeys Lock on the Rideau
Cheers

Dan, very nice photo of your HHB:thumbsup:

Lucy said she was going to bake, but I spotted the telltale Costco wrapper

Just having a cheese sandwich and watching the local wildlife ;)

Jack, I love Costco. Most of their stuff is top quality. As for the local wildlife...please don't feed the animals:D:D:D

Good Morning Guardians! Unusual for me to be sat here at my PC on a Saturday morning, but it makes a nice change, and the weather here is certainly dull. I just hope the weather forecast is accurate, and that I get to be able to have a hike in the sunshine tomorrow. Also planning to take my new catapult out for a twirl ;) :D

With my Hartshead Barlow having taken over my pocket this past six months or so, Lucy, my 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot has not been let out of her box for a while...

...so I thought I'd let her out for the day, and celebrate with a Lucy tribute! ;) Have a great day Guardians

Love dark chocolate and I especially love that knife. Very beautiful covers and lovely fluted bolsters. One of my all time favorite "Dracula" movies is Bram Stoker's version where you pasted in one of the moments in the film.

I like them because they deliver! :D It's the first time I'd had those baguettes, I thought I'd order them as a standby :) I very rarely eat chocolate, but I always get the good, dark stuff. Thank you my friend, that's a good one I think, some great 'Drac' moments ::D

Here's my 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot in Whitby in North Yorkshire, where Dracula comes ashore in the book. The ancient church and abbey can be seen atop the cliff opposite, and the photo is taken from where Bram Stoker stayed, and where Lucy and Mina stay in the book

I remember seeing the E-Tron on a list of car names that didn’t translate well in certain languages. :D

And not to add controversy, up to this point we've been a Lea & Perrins household. Hopefully they can cohabitate in harmony ;)

Wars have started over less. :D

(I think that’s the same as posting a non-Lambsfoot knife in this thread!) ;)

It's worse.:D

There was a pub across from our flat on the corner of Ladbroke Grove and Portobello Road that we went to at least once. They didn't seem very wild about us, but maybe we were too many at once. I want to say John Noakes, but that may have been the undertaker next door.

Aye, you wouldn't want to get those two mixed up.

We were greeted outside by two young men who explained the 'house rules', then asked to sanitise our hands with hand gel dispensed from a large and expensive-looking stainless steel column, operated by a foot-pump. My accomplice seemed to manage OK, but my first pump squirted hand gel onto my trousers, and the second onto my shoes  We were directed to a table outside, where we were told we had to order via a phone 'app'. I left that to my younger friend, but it still took about 20 minutes to install said app. When it was finally installed, there turned out to be only two less than mediocre beers available, and at about £1 more than we'd usually pay. Having waited so long, we ordered anyway, but even after 4 months away from the pub, when they were brought to our table, they took some drinking o_O

We moved on, and had a look at a modern place we have been to before, but it was very busy. A bar across the road, where I hadn't drank for 15 years, looked empty, so we thought we'd give it a try. Hand-gel on the door, payment by card only, but you could actually go to the bar. The beers were even more expensive, but at least they had a couple of decent ales on. We had a pint in the outdoor seating area, and then moved on to try to find a more traditional pub.

Sorry to hear about your pub woes Jack. An undeclared side-effect of Covid19 appears to of been, at the very least, a 10 point drop in the average IQ of most Brits; some pub landlords being among them. The guidance for the reopening of pubs, although quite ambiguous, actually set out the minimum requirements quite clearly, (hence why some pubs chose to postpone reopening so they could accommodate them) and the two landlords I know have managed quite well without all that rigmarole.

I got away for a week, mainly up in North Yorkshire (to celebrate our pubs reopening ) for a bit, then sorting out a lot of stuff for my mum.
I hope our U.S cousins all had an enjoyable Independence Day.

On my last day in the Yorkshire Dales, through what felt like real winter mirk.

That's pretty rotten for July isn't it? :( Nice pics though :) I have to say, I've had quite a few summer days in the Dales or Lakes, which were no better o_O I hope you had a good time regardless David, with your William Wallace diet! :D ;)

Yes, I know just what you mean about the pubs o_O I don't know if I told you, but a couple of pubs in Leeds got done for being open during the lockdown, one of them is right in the city centre  At the other one, they got caught because while they were surreptitiously letting customers in by the back door, they kept going out of the front door to have a smoke o_O Some folks can't afford to have their IQ drop 10 points, a few more and they'd be classed as plants!

Gorgeous! Congratulations, that should be a pleasure to carry.

Jack Black Jack Black , as others have said, I'm sorry to hear about your pub woes and the loss of the good old places with character. Sadly, another local Austin institution has fallen victim to Covid-19: Dart Bowl.
A bowling alley with a cafe that served some fine enchiladas and okay chicken fried steaks. It had a mean waitress who would give you dirty looks, but always got your order right. A number of scenes were filmed there for Richard Linklater's 2014 film Boyhood.

I'm afraid that when we emerge from this pandemic some day, there will be nothing but corporate chain restaurants left.

To cheer us up, here's a picture of a Lambsfoot with BBQ:

LOL! That was from a new butchers in Malton! He's making his own pork pies as well which are still a work in progress. I got a couple of bottles of 'Yorkshire Pudding' ale from him as well which I'll post a pic of when I come round to opening them. Food 2 Remember; Talbot Yard. Just round'th corner from the Groovey Moo ice cream parlour.
The weather was on and off the entire week, and we actually had some cracking days. Other days were like that, but that's the first time I've ever had to wear my winter baselayer, hat and gloves in the afternoon. In July.

LOL! Yip, there must of been dozens of pubs in Liverpool that were "open" and got caught, and I think one not far from me was open (but didn't get caught). But I was hearing stories from all over the country about pubs having back door hours. But why would you break the lockdown laws but then obey the smoking ban??
Idiots. :rolleyes::D

Doh! I posted this in the EDC thread by mistake!! If you want to have a go, please have a guess

Here's a quick-fire competition! Guess what I'm about to eat, and I'll send you a Lambsfoot. Open to anyone who calls in here, one guess each, must be exact. It's 5.30pm here in Yorkshire, and I'll run this until 7.00pm. First correct guess gets the prize

Sausage sandwich a day early?

Hi everybody

I‘m more or less new to blade forum even if I’ve been following this thread and several others for months. The thing that I find most amazing specially in this thread an in Carl‘s Lounge (besides the wonderful knives shown) is the friendly tone of conversation and even the feeling of friendship between people all over the world.

Looking at all these wonderful Lambsfoot knives I feel a pull to get one of my own sooner or later.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and stay healthy even if circumstances are not easy.

I read about him when he died, enough to make me suspect that the Python bit "How to Do It" was a send-up of Blue Peter, which I never saw. How to play the flute, how to rid the world of all disease, and I forget the third one.
[I have a feeling I've said this before, but you guys know about my pitiful grey hairs.]

I was admonished by my wife this morning to be more patient with my uncle, who repeats himself a lot. Apparently I do the same thing.
