Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

it's certainly a great-looking flashlight  Thanks a lot pal :)
Thank you Jack.

Taking care of 7 different people in 4 different homes has been quite a challenge these last four months.
Great to hear from you, Mark. You’re one of the unsung heroes out there. It also looks like you’re eating well.

On my last day in the Yorkshire Dales, through what felt like real winter mirk
You make bad weather look good, David.

Some folks can't afford to have their IQ drop 10 points, a few more and they'd be classed as plants!
Plenty of these types on this side of the Pond, Jack.

Taking the Hartshead Barlow out with me
A smashing set of Outdoor Hartshead portrait, Jack.

Sharing pocket space today is the fine JB HHB!
And you made it look finer, Dennis.

Good Afternoon Guardians

I received this Standard Lambfoot with Buffalo Horn covers some time ago.

After a bit of use it turned into this.

I turned to Jason @Signalprick to see if he could recover the knife and he accepted the challenge.

This is what he sent back to me. A wonderfully recovered Lambfoot with "Snakewood" covers. He did a great job. Notice the thin Red G-10 accent liners and notice the well centered blade with the blade tip nestled nicely in the frame.

I just got the knife out of our mail box 30-minutes ago. More and better pictures to follow when the lighting is better.
That looks awesome, Ed!
@Signalprick Way to make lemonade out of that lemon.

Hi everybody

I‘m more or less new to blade forum even if I’ve been following this thread and several others for months. The thing that I find most amazing specially in this thread an in Carl‘s Lounge (besides the wonderful knives shown) is the friendly tone of conversation and even the feeling of friendship between people all over the world.

Looking at all these wonderful Lambsfoot knives I feel a pull to get one of my own sooner or later.

I wish you all a wonderful weekend and stay healthy even if circumstances are not easy.

Gerd
Welcome to the Guardians thread, thanks for stopping in and saying hi.
I hope you give the Lambsfoot pattern a try.
Now that’s the good stuff! :D

Jack Black Jack Black -Good morning Jack and all my fellow Guardians! I'm alive and doing well, thanks my friend. Just less free time than ever, it seems.

Taking care of 7 different people in 4 different homes has been quite a challenge these last four months. Both my parents and my wife's parents all have underlying health conditions as well as pushing 80 yrs of age, and all a bit stubborn... so we've been doing ALOT of grocery shopping, filling prescriptions, and counseling -haha- (trying to keep everyone sane and happy) They all live within 2 miles of us so that is good. Also, trying to prepare for school opening back up while our cases begin to soar. Literally four times as many as when they shut down before. I just don't get it. Well, I do, it's all about the $$, not peoples health or life, but I digress.

Anyway, I check in when I can and try to follow this thread as best I can. USPS is still in shambles in my city. I hear others talk about no postal delays and whatnot, but I can assure you that's not been my experience. My local branch is shut down, after opening for a short time, and the main branch where I need to go now is absolutely packed, mostly with folks who refuse to wear a mask. @Pàdruig @CelloDan -Linus is still on my desk boxed up awaiting his shot at moving on.

I've been doing a lot of home improvements and grilling out and I really enjoy spending all my time with my wife and son, so that part has been wonderful! Great to catch up with you and thanks for your photos and hiking adventures, I've been enjoying them!:thumbsup:

Here's my 2019 Ironwood sfo with some grilled proteins.;) As you can probably tell, it's been a constant companion.

Great to see that you are doing well and that you have been using that '19 of your so much.
I'm afraid that when we emerge from this pandemic some day, there will be nothing but corporate chain restaurants left.

To cheer us up, here's a picture of a Lambsfoot with BBQ:

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm BBQ!
Is it wrong that I have never had Scottish Eggs?

Y'all made me hungry!

Pic from yesterday. I will try to stop back in and catch up on quotes and post today's Lambsfoot.

I sure am Ron, even the pubs that are open seem to be only doing a limited menu, and I don't know when I'll be able to get over to Sheffield again :( An acid etch is certainly more likely, not many cutlers ever used laser etching in Sheffield, but the small acid-etching etching devices were compact, inexpensive, and readily available there. Of course it could have been etched on a machine like the ones Wright's use, which leave a deeper etch. How does it compare to the etch on your Guardian's knives for example, it looks like it's more of a surface etch, but of course it's hard to tell from a photograph? It was a great find my friend :)
It’s hard to tell about the etch Jack. It appears at least as deep as the Wright’s etch. The letters appear more solid where the Wright’s appears more a series of micro dots. I’ll have more time tomorrow and I’ll get out the magnifier and maybe take some comparison photos for everyone to see. Maybe we could do a comparison of the various stamps and etches by the different makers! :)

Good Morning Guardians! Unusual for me to be sat here at my PC on a Saturday morning, but it makes a nice change, and the weather here is certainly dull. I just hope the weather forecast is accurate, and that I get to be able to have a hike in the sunshine tomorrow. Also planning to take my new catapult out for a twirl ;) :D

With my Hartshead Barlow having taken over my pocket this past six months or so, Lucy, my 2019 Guardians Lambsfoot has not been let out of her box for a while...

...so I thought I'd let her out for the day, and celebrate with a Lucy tribute! ;) Have a great day Guardians

That is the scariest thought, all the good ma and pa places closing down! But the BBQ looks good!:thumbsup:
gruyere pie. Results are in, and the yums have it :D

Cool shot. Have to admit I had to look up gruyere pie, never heard of it, but sounds good!:)
Well, it was a hard one, though I think I mentioned several weeks ago that a friend had visited me, and brought the gift of a Christmas Pudding! That's what I had, with custard. Thanks to everyone who had a guess, and I'm sorry nobody got it. It's Yorkshire Day in a few weeks, so I'll do a proper giveaway then

Nice contrast shot, Kevin!

I live my life discombobulated.:thumbsup:
I think my birth certificate uses that phrase somewhere on there!:D:thumbsup:
Pretty as a picture.
Thank you, John!
I’m running a little late today, but I’ve had my Ashley’s Choice in my pocket! Y’all have a great weekend! :)

Such an outstanding shit, Ron!:)

Mate, good to see you. How is the weather in your neck of the woods, i know it is Summer, but is it hot, have seen some conflicting reports about storm activity? Do you handle the heat? i used to thrive in it, not now, i really struggle with it as i have gotten older. Have a good week mate, and stay cool and safe.

It is a shame. There aren't many places left from when I moved here in 1980. I suppose new businesses will open in their place, eventually. But it takes years for a dive bar or greasy spoon to build up a "patina". ;)

That looks awesome, Ed!
@Signalprick Way to make lemonade out of that lemon.

Thanks Kevin. Jason @Signalprick did a really fine job - much better and much more than I ever thought possible. As I told Jason; this is the best damn thing to happen to me since my cancer surgeries. It was Jason's idea to use the Snakewood and it turned out great.

That’s funny! I’ve heard the MP story before; it’s on the Henderson’s Wikipedia page. :D

Your not bloody kidding Jack.

I got away for a week, mainly up in North Yorkshire (to celebrate our pubs reopening ) for a bit, then sorting out a lot of stuff for my mum.
I hope our U.S cousins all had an enjoyable Independence Day.

Certainly doesn’t look like summer, but great photos nonetheless.

I never thought 'The Athlete's Foot' was a great name for a store which sold footwear! ;)

Yeah, I’d be hesitant to try on any shoes there. :D

Doh! I posted this in the EDC thread by mistake!! If you want to have a go, please have a guess

Here's a quick-fire competition! Guess what I'm about to eat, and I'll send you a Lambsfoot. Open to anyone who calls in here, one guess each, must be exact. It's 5.30pm here in Yorkshire, and I'll run this until 7.00pm. First correct guess gets the prize

Sorry I missed this, Jack, but I’m certain that I wouldn’t have guessed Christmas pudding! ;)

Your Christmas-pudding-in-July got me thinking about my favorite local brewery back in Arizona, SanTan Brewing. They have an annual “Christmas in July” event at their brewpub/restaurant where they open a few reserved kegs of their Winter Warmer (served with fresh ginger snaps).

A few years ago, their Christmas in July happened to fall on Eleanor’s first birthday, so that’s where we went to celebrate. (I felt bad for the guy who had to wear the Santa getup in Phoenix in July!) :D

A bit of Lambsfoot content: This Rosewood has become one of my favorites. There’s just something about it that I really like. (Recycled photo.)

With all the arguments for and against from many quarters, some informed some not so informed, a decision has just be made for us and taken out of our hands. We have just been informed that as of next Thursday wearing of masks will be compulsory, does not worry me, but i am sure it will some people. There will be mad panic buying as i type this{ i already have some, saw this coming} and prices which have already risen substantially will rise again i suspect. But i will be able to amuse myself in lockdown watching the bidding frenzy for them on Ebay. Take care and have a good and safe week everyone.:)

Re my previous post, did not take long, i checked the seller that i bought my face masks from, i wanted re-usable much cheaper, yesterday they had over 200 with the price increased about 25%, 1 hour after the compulsory wearing announcement, ALL GONE. I can only imagine what it must be like out there as i speak with panic buying on steroids.

I'd like to try and leave early tomorrow, so I've got my bag packed, had a shave, and now I'm going to go and make some sandwiches :) If I don't get time to post in the morning, have a great Sunday Guardians, and if I'm not too worn out, I'll try and call in when I get back home :) I just hope I can sleep now I'm thinking of pies! ;)

Taking the Hartshead Barlow out with me

The photo really shows off a different perspective of your wonderful stag HHB Jack:thumbsup:

Thanks, Jack. Making it!

That's great to hear, Ed!!:) Happy for you!

Thank you much, Harvey!:cool::thumbsup:

Wonderful shot, Gary! Seems like the air smells better there!:)

.......now I'm craving some good BBQ!

Wow, whatva great transition!:)

:eek::eek:

Oh Lucy, we've missed ya!;)

:D
Wildlife huh?!

That is quite a eclectic collection, Jer!:)

More beautiful scenery, Dan!:cool::thumbsup:

I could see why, a fella might get discombobulated deciding which one!:thumbsup:

Sorry to hear that, Mark! We did the same with my wife's mothet, father and grandparents. Hope things improve for you!

A perfect meal, without all that green stuff and fillers!:D:thumbsup:

A bit dismal, David, but as long as you have a Scottish egg, couldn't have been too bad!:thumbsup:

Happy Saturday, Guardians!
Sharing pocket space today is the fine JB HHB!

Dennis, seems that your stag HHB and Jack's are really showing well today. Hope you fellers have a good rest of the weekend.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
