Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

LOL! :D I just did a quick search, and it seems that it comes from Old Norse mugen or mugga, via Middle English, and is first recorded as 'muggy' in 1746. Like many words with Old Norse roots, it is recorded here as a Yorkshire dialect word. I was fascinated to see it used here on The Porch, I wouldn't have used it myself for fear that barely anyone would have known what I was talking about! :D
Wow, 1746, muggy has been around for quite a while! ;)

I've used it all my life here in south Texas, where it's muggy all the time! Sitting in my car right now in bloody muggy heat while my daughter is getting a haircut. Then I gotta put on a bloody mask on this muggy day to go in and pay!;):p
I’m not surprised that a Texan would know about muggy Vince! ;) Y’all have humidity down there very similar to here in Tennessee. :D

I taking some time to catch up with a few posts. I’m guilty sometimes I really move through the thread faster than I should! ;)

A Rosewood big ‘un makes a great gardening companion David! :)

Terrific Snakewood Harvey!

There’s been a lot of “Muggy” around here lately Bill! :( Always great to see your Hartshead my friend! :)

“Discriminating Minds” always carry a Lambsfoot John! ;) :D

Fresh raspberries and granola sounds great Jack! I’m the same my friend. All of my indoor photos are taken in the same spot! I do need to add some variety to my backgrounds! :)
Thanks Ron

Hey Duane!! It's great to see you back brother! :) The one I bought last week is an old one, no electric, just hand operation. I'm not sure it'll see a lot of use, but will be handy when I do need it :) How have you been keeping?
Doing well Jack, still often admire my remaining Lambsfoots, two Big'uns and an ebony small, my wife nicked the buffalo horn for her collection LOL. I drop in and lurk now and then, good to see this thread still going strong! Cheers!

Ya know it's muggy when you take a nice cool shower to cool off and then break a sweat when toweling off.:rolleyes:

It's a muggy evening here in New England. That's exactly what we'd say.

I'm fascinated that the word is in such widespread use  I was also surprised by some of the options that have come up when I've done the US dialect quiz, including words which are very localised here, and which I really wouldn't have thought would be in use across the Pond :) Before DNA analysis, language was of course the primary way in which historic migration patterns were determined

This week, I'm carrying Man Jack, my lambsfoot stag senator with presidential aspirations:

Your wife has great taste Duane :) Glad you're keeping well my friend :)

Good Morning Guardians! Hope everyone is having a decent week. It's unusual for me to have time to post on a Thursday morning, as I'm usually off down to the market early. Going a little later today though - with my Hartshead Barlow back in my pocket :) Have a good day Guardians

Have a good day at the market Jack.:) What's on your shopping list, if I may ask?:D The HHB is shining by the sea:thumbsup:

Very interesting knife Jose. The covers and blade look as though there must have been some interesting times had over it's lifetime.:)

Good morning Guardians. Off to the links today and it's another scorcher outside. Got my two big bottles of Gatorade with me and I lathered on the sunscreen (SPF 50). Will be carrying my HHB today after golf. Recycled photo

Hope it's a good day at the Market, Jack. :)

Hope your day is on par, Bill. ;)

Not even sure what language you are speaking today... Italian?

Cool picture, Chuck. :cool::thumbsup:
What's the flag for?

Good morning, Ron. Hope it's a great day. :)

John that’s actually the mask I,m wearing at work today.

I am trying in Italian :)
My last name is Italian.
My great grandfather emigrated to Argentina from Italy. My Dad speaks fluent Italian but I never learned it despite its similarities to Spanish.
Now my daughters are loosing their Spanish as they grow in Canada, but it's our fault as we should speak to them in Spanish more.
