Swayback Sambar v Swayback Horn

I got my chores done yesterday, and it's freezing outside. I plan to stay in and be lazy today with a Guardian Lambsfoot in my pocket. :)

Got almost all of my knives stored away at the moment, but the Guardians lambsfoot snuck out for a quick pic :)

All of that ram's horn is beautiful! It reminds me of galactic nebula. They get ahold of some nice stuff, huh?

It stopped raining long enough for some new photos. I have my large Rosewood included in my carries today. Hope y'all have a blessed Sunday! :D

That's great wood, too. Looks like a rich cup of coffee.

Got a lambsfoot from A Wright inbound. They said it was beeing produced and will be on it's way at the end of the week. Now I've never used this kind of bladeshape and I am eager to put it to use. Reading up, it should be great!

My question is; what can can I expect in terms of fit and finnish from A.Wright?

It's actually water buffalo horn. Wright's don't do any in ram's horn, but hopefully one day ;)

Which model did you order? If you ordered directly, their orders are filled by a local retailer, rather than directly, but fit and finish is generally good in my experience. I always advise folk to tell them what they expect. Personally, I'm not too bothered about a bit of light, but I do like a centred blade, without blade cant. Looking forward to seeing your Lambsfoot, and hope you enjoy using it

I ordered the standard lambsfoot in ebony. I did not tell them what to expect but I do expect a well finnished knife, it beeing handmade in the UK and all. :D And I really don't know what you mean by "a bit of light". Can you fill me in there?

They're doing ebony as standard now (used to be a special order), but with an unpolished blade. It'll be interesting to see what the ebony is like. By 'light', I mean that if you hold the open knife up to a strong light, you may be able to see some light showing through the back of the knife. Try it with some of your existing knives. There is not usually a great deal with Wright's knives I don't think

Here is my own ebony Lambsfoot, but this one has a polished blade. It was the first Wright's Lambsfoot I had bought for a while, and I was amazed by the quality of it. Quite an incredible knife for the price I think, and it takes a great edge

Thanks for the insight Jack Black Jack Black , I'll come back to this thread with pictures and my opinion of F&F on the knife.

That knife looks great btw.

Has anyone ever tried to close up the grain and add a bit of gloss to a Rosewood Wright?

Really happy to see how far this thread has come in my time away, I sure do have a lot to catch up on. Please forgive my absence and rest assured that the Lambsfoot has been in my pocket Every day for more then a year now. It shows the scars of our time together and appreciation I have for the humble pattern.

Long live the Guardians of the Lambsfoot-
