Last week, I posted a picture of my Lambsfoot flock, andModoc ED noticed that I didn't have a Hartshead Barlow in stag. So he very kindly sent one. Thank you, Ed!

It's really lovely, with great stag, and just enough patina that I'm not tempted to keep it on the shelf.

I'll have to take some new pictures of the full line-up, but here it is with its Rosewood mate:

Jack Black , you sure did a good job riding herd on Wrights to get these made so well.

Thanks Barret! And apparently one of Jack's all-time most favorite automobiles...![]()
Thanks mate. Those barlows are a most handsome lot. I am so thankful for all of the sfo's you provided us. Seriously grateful.
Absolutely wonderful to see this thread back up with so many great pictures and old friends present.
Was out for a lovely motorcycle ride on Sunday, and an old Taylors Eye Witness performed well at lunch time.
The delicious meal was served at an outdoor patio with a beautiful view to my right.
Walking, biking, and sailing, everyone was enjoying a nice day.

I would try it too. But then again, I like milk and I like butter, so I thought I would like buttermilk. NOT! I had to spew it out. I'd still give the mustard beer a shot.
Modoc ED is a generous fellow. He must have noticed I only had the stag Hartshead Barlow. I got this in my mailbox a little while ago:

With a 1946 penny. Beautiful knife, with a little patina. Been keeping my stag knife clean, but I put this one to work right away:
Thanks, Ed!![]()
I know it was a lot of work for Jack, Dwight, but we sure appreciate it.
I’m not sure I entirely agree with your logic, but would certainly give it a try.(I love all sorts of mustards, on a variety of foods, I just don’t know that I want to drink it!)
...
Having met Jack in person, I will say that I don’t think those cars were made for folks of his stature (nor mine, for that matter).Maybe we should’ve rented one to drive around Sheffield. That would’ve been a sight!

It is 12.30 pm here, lunchtime, and all this talk of pretzels and mustard and photos of food made me hungry. Lunch- a sausage with grainy mustard, onion and tomato sauce in a hot dog roll.

Those AW&S HeartsHead Barlows are really sweet looking knives. Kudos to Jack for making them happen and thumbs up to all who share the pics of them. I absolutely love the bolster stamp and the etch. Enjoy 'em if you got 'em![]()
I have just been reading a fantastic article on the Battle of Britain to coincide with the 80th anniversary, and the photo that you have posted is a great picture of an engineering triumph. They were an iconic plane for very good reasons, it is such a shame that not many still exist.80th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain today![]()

Congratulations Vince!I would try it too. But then again, I like milk and I like butter, so I thought I would like buttermilk. NOT! I had to spew it out. I'd still give the mustard beer a shot.

Thanks, everyone!Congratulations Rachel! That’s a very generous gift from Ed! Beautiful Stag and I know you’ll enjoy having the pair!![]()
Thanks Jack! The RAF, though greatly outnumbered, gave the Luftwaffe more than they bargained for!Considering its iconic status, it's a shame more weren't preservedThe only below is a repro

Always good to see Big Eb![]()
Only a few of the conkers have started falling from the Horse Chestnut trees on my street, and they're still so 'green' the shells aren't breaking open when they hit the ground. That doesn't stop the squirrels making short work of them though.

Thanks, everyone!
These Hartsheads sure are fine and sturdy. I've mentioned it before, but I find it fascinating that the bolsters are made of the same steel as the blades (but differently heat treated, I assume) so it's interesting to watch and compare as they patina.

It's a beautiful, bright, cool, crisp day here for lawn-mowing. Even more beautifully, I did the lawn yesterday!

Thanks David! Jack and I are of the opinion that Trevor quite possibly made this Slater. Wonderful photos my friend. The ancient cross is especially amazing to me!Great Lambsfoot content also!
Thanks for sharing!

I think one of your squires deliberately imported the grey squirrels, like our idiot who imported starlings into Central Park.
But no, chipmunks aren't red squirrels. They're smaller, with relatively smaller tails and bigger heads, and they spend more time on and in the ground.

I'm pretty sure that was the case. I don't remember the reasoning.hhh thanks Jer. That's how your grey squirrels ended up over here. One of our squires thought we needed some north American critters.
That’s great Jack! Sadly not many of our greatest generation left to have those moments with now!Yes, incredible really. I was lucky enough to have a number of great conversations with an old Spitfire pilot, who was at the Battle of Britain, and in the RAF throughout the war. He was the father of my former brother-in-law. He was quite a character![]()
Thanks again David! Nice sausage my friend! Thanks Ron. The North Yorkshire Moors is literally littered with them. They usually mark old pilgrim routes which this one does. I said ancient but actually it's not, it's a 20th century replacement, the original stands in the Norman crypt of Lastingham church about 3 miles away.
If you look hard at the horizon you'll see how it sits in the scheme of things.

This was actually yesterday when I got a mysterious craving for chorizo washed down with OJ.
![]()
Thank you kindly David. That's stunning metal work.
Thanks Dan. For some reason I had it in my head that there were no red squirrels in North America, but Jer says they were imports. Great photos as I've never seen a red squirrel anywhere in the UK.

Our clown imported starlings so that Central Park would have every bird mentioned by Shakespeare.
