Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

It's a little late for breakfast

But then it's a bit early for snow!

The Southern border of the ancient kingdom of Northumbria was the River Sheaf, from which Sheffield takes its name

Oops! Sorry Dan, I am just rinsing my mouth out with tea! :D Is that a Canadian thing, like actors not saying 'Macbeth'? Do you say something else instead? We certainly had some unusual weather here yesterday

Fantastic photo Dwight :)

Mmmmmmm :)

That looks like a full-scale expedition Dan! :D Have a wonderful time my friend :)

Good Morning Guardians, hoping the weather settles down a bit for my walk tomorrow, I certainly don't want to get hit by any golf-ball size hail-stones! Or golf-balls! ;)

zuT8gyo.jpg

Most of the trees are completely green here, but a few leaves are starting to fall, and also, on my street, I need to look out for falling conkers! These are bigger than golf-balls and spiked! Half my street is lined with horse-chestnut trees, and hundreds of conkers rain down every year. At one time, armies of school-boys would arrive to grab up the inedible brown 'nuts' like treasure, but today, they just sit in the road until they're crushed under the wheels of passing cars :( I'm definitely wearing a hat! :D It might even be time to get my beloved tweed flat-cap out :)

Have a great Friday Guardians, the weekend is almost upon us :)

Frigid looking photo of the ice/snow cover. I'm glad that I don't see that white stuff anymore and even happier that I don't have to drive in it too. Here in coastal North Carolina if we just get a light coating of the white stuff it brings traffic to a halt, accidents abound, and it paralyzes the entire area. By lunch time it's gone. Fortunately we hardly ever see any snow or ice:D
Also, some excellent photos of your stag HHB (as always they are a joy to view.)

Lol . I love the “ rinsing my mouth with tea” comeback Jack :)

I will jinx myself for this one post lol

I don’t think it’s a Canadian thing.
I do hear it from time to time especially in my work in health care geared to help seniors stay safely at home.

Winter here can be brutal for the elderly. Many of them don’t go out for months during winter.
Falls on the ice and snow cause a lot of fractures ( hips especially).
Retired Canadians flock by the thousands to Florida every winter , aka “snowbirds” . However the time comes when they cannot go anymore ( some have not been here in winter for 15 years or more)

Some of my patients say to me “ we won’t say the “s” word “ and that’s fine for this south American Canadian :)

We did “ embrace” winter again last year so in fairness I don’t mind the snow that much, we are already planning to buy kicksleds and other equipment to helps us cope

I certainly don’t mind “bizarre “ hailstorms :eek::cool::)

That looks like a full-scale expedition Dan! :D Have a wonderful time my friend :)

Lol , yeah, we are not going lite on our last “expedition “ :D
Still, we were a bit cold last night.

Modoc ED Modoc ED I am posting my Ironwood, from when i got it to now. The last 2 posts are after i cleaned it a couple of weeks ago, You can never tell properly from pics, especially with my lack of photography skills. But you will get the general idea, after carrying it, the wood has really darkened and you can hardly see any grain pattern in the wood. When i cleaned it, the amount of surface grease and gunk that came off was amazing, and that is just from sweat and oils from my hand. You both have a good weekend.

Awesome Leon, impressive !!!

I'm glad that I don't see that white stuff

I am glad for you to Bill that the white stuff spares you :D:cool:

Good morning Guardians.
Warming up by the fire and trying to forget about the white stuff :D

Very interesting to see those comparison pics Leon :)

Sorry you had such a rainy day at the market Jack.:( The apple Danish pastry looks yummy. Great shots of your stag HHB too.:D Regarding my project; my brother sent to me the model car and it was a laser cut plywood model. Very interesting project and fun to do. Thanks for your kind words my friend.

Thanks Bill, I once heard perfect happiness described as standing dry, in the doorway of an allotment (shed), with rain bouncing down only inches away, so it wasn't too bad :) I am certainly glad I was not out in the much longer, and even heavier, hail-storm later, which seems to have been extremely localised  It looked like a lot of fun Bill :) I bought a few much smaller kits from friends' children, which had a wind-up motor and pieces made from thick card, and all the parents reported how much fun they had been to build with their kids :)

Unfortunately, it is much the same here in England! You'd think snow was unknown, and that the country only recently drifted over from the Caribbean!

Lol . I love the “ rinsing my mouth with tea” comeback Jack :)

Thanks Dan, I was just been literal, I actually was drinking tea when I read your post! :D

I hope not Dan! Thank you for the explanation my friend, you certainly have some very extreme winters there, so I hope it's a mild one this year. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed your skating photos last year, and you really did seem to embrace it :)

Demand the Sherpas bring more blankets Dan! :D

A good fire will cure a lot of ills Dan :) Stay warm, and have a great time :) Love that pic

Just heard that even more restrictive measures come into force in Leeds from midnight - no mixing between households, not even in the garden - so I can meet my mate in the pub, but we can't have a socially distanced beer round the fire-pit o_O

Hi fellow Guardians :)

Brought my ebony lamb to our last camping adventure of the year.

Setting camp earlier today at Murphys Point Provincial Park in a very nice and heavily wooded area.

That’s sad to hear Jack! :( Over here we can have a thousand people in the streets elbow to elbow creating havoc, but then some places can still not go to church! I certainly don’t want to sound political, but it’s almost as if the clowns are running the circus!

Sorry for my redundancy of late Guardians, but I’ve taken a real liking to Big Eb! Y’all have a great weekend! :)

Yes, with 60,000 students coming to the city in recent weeks (despite the fact tuition is actually online) and living in close proximity to each other, there has been a sense of inevitability about it Ron. I suspect that there'll be even stricter lockdown conditions before too long :( Glad you're enjoying Big Eb so much Ron :)

I've just been making chilli...

(no mushrooms in case Vince calls round ;) )

Now it's bubbling away on the stove, I'm going to catch up with some good reading :)

That’s a lot of students Jack! You know they’re not going to practice social distancing, it’s just not in their nature! The chili looks great Jack. Enjoy your reading my friend! :)

Of course not Ron, and they could have stayed at home, but then the universities might have had to cut their fees, and would have lost the Millions they charge for the overcrowded accommodation, where many students have already ended up completely confined, alongside people they only met a few weeks ago

Thanks my friend, I had the chilli with a baked potato, and ice-cream for afters :) I'll be taking some out with me on my hike tomorrow ;)

Happy Friday Guardians!!!!

Gonna go and buy a selection of Octoberfest beers today. Hoping to get a handful of German and American versions. There is a place semi local where you can buy single bottles of beer.

I'm sure you'll find some good ones Taylor :) Have a great evening

Scrumptiously beautiful Jack.

Thank you very much Dwight, that pic is just...ACE! :)

Great photo Dwight! Ace is the place! :D I shop at Ace every chance I get. I would rather go in there and support a local business owner than the big box stores. The family that owns our Ace has four locations within a 25 mile drive from my house. Great people to deal with. Too bad they don’t have any lambsfoot knives for sale! ;) :D

Thanks for taking the time to take and post pictures of your Ironwood Lambfoot @cudgee. Very enlightening.

When I first came to Vancouver in 1970, I was used to driving my 1963
Volkswagen Camper in the Buffalo Snow, even with my questionable tires!! I grew up with the stuff (if you know Buffalo, you know Snow!) That winter, a rare snowfall occurred here, and I watched a seven (7) car pile-up unfold in front of me in slow motion on level ground!!!
I was a key witness, and None (0) of the drivers was born in North America!! All came from warmer climates!! Quite recently (then).

Among the last Jack Black Jack Black Jack Black SFOs. Standard, Bagpipe Ebony. I can't remember exactly but I think he had a "Big-un" version made too. At any rate, it is a very nice knife.

It arrived in a package with a 2019 Guardians Ironwood knife that I also bought and some "freebie":) goodies from Jack - book, anchor bottle opener, and buttons.

Those are such cool vehicles. I have ridden hundreds of miles in those rigs when I worked for Missouri Pacific railroad. We would hog-out (12 hrs) somewhere on the line and a checker would come pick us up and drop off another crew. Also would deadhead in them.

Very cool Barrett

Thanks, guys! It’s a tank, and basically the exact opposite of a Mini. :D Of course, if you wanted something even bigger, Checker also made the Aerobus.

A Stack of Jack's Jacks!! Where Jack got Sheffield to do what they were supposed to do, and I shared in the treasures!!:D (He pulled a few teeth I think!!)
The ironwood knife is in the lower right quadrant of that group picture above (post #44404)!:)View attachment 1424188

Good looking crew there, Charlie!

I hope everyone is having a good day. Been pretty wet here in Yorkshire
