Looks fine to me.Hey Guardians
I have a confession of sorts.
I have at times this irresistible urge to modify or tinker with some things to make them my own.
This, once in a while has backfired on me.
Back when I first got my HHB I had not yet realized the iconic status of this knife and how much Jack had endeavored to bring it to fruition.
You may have picked that so far I have only shown pics of the mark side.
As in here:

The stag on the pile side was significantly different than the mark side.
It was much thicker and had one large groove running the length of the slab.
Here is the only pic of the pile side I have in it's original condition:

Had I known what I know now about the HHB I would have left it alone.
Anyhow, I think I had had it for 3 days when I sat down with a dremel, sandpaper, stains etc.
This is how it looked the day after modifying it

After use and handling it has mellowed some, here is how it looks today.

How you guys feel about it.... honest !
Linseed oil and kerosene. These are my three A.Wright Lambfoot knives with Buffalo Horn covers. I've noticed in another forum or two that a lot of people treat their horn with some type of oil. Perhaps because of my aging mind, I haven't read how you guys/gals take care of your horn here in the Guardian's thread. Perhaps some input from the Guardians would be helpful. Input from Charlie @waynorth and JackJack Black would be nice as well as everyone. Thanks.

I bought a jar of Renaissance Wax years ago. It wasn't cheap, but a little goes a long way and I use it on both horn and wood. These are my three A.Wright Lambfoot knives with Buffalo Horn covers. Looks fine to me.
It looks to me like your work on the pile side greatly enhanced the beauty of it. I love it.
I'm the same as you - I like to make things "mine". I think that your mods to the cover turned out well
but I will confess...I don't think that I would have had the guts to do it
.
Confession is good for the soul, Dan! I would have left it as is. Unlike some others, I make a knife "mine" by carrying and using it, and sharpening it when needed. I don't ever modify knives. But the knife looks fine. Wouldn't worry about it.Thanks for the replies Guardians !
I feel conflicted about it, every time I pick it up.
While I am happy on how it turned out I also wish I would not have touched it and left it original.
( I do feel better about fessing up to the Guardianship though)
Thanks to Jack for all his efforts in bringing us the HHB.
Cheers![]()
I like those guys racing with sticks- I just noticed them.

Super tired Friday. I’m forcing myself to carry myJack Black SFOs. I’m scared by their scarcity because I don’t know that there will be any more.
Joe
Good morning Guardians and all. Going to clean out the attic today. Weather turned cooler here in Coastal NC so it will be tolerable up there in the attic
. Going to need my HHB for breaking down boxes, etc.
