Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Charlie @waynorth - Here's a few shots of my remaining A.Wright two-blade Standard Lambfoot - I gave one to Christian @kamagong. Covers are dark Rosewood. It's a good solid work knife. These photos were taken when it was newish before developing a patina but I'm working on it.

Hey Guardians :)

I have a confession of sorts.

I have at times this irresistible urge to modify or tinker with some things to make them my own.
This, once in a while has backfired on me.

Back when I first got my HHB I had not yet realized the iconic status of this knife and how much Jack had endeavored to bring it to fruition.

You may have picked that so far I have only shown pics of the mark side.
As in here:

8t4b3aq.jpg

The stag on the pile side was significantly different than the mark side.
It was much thicker and had one large groove running the length of the slab.
Here is the only pic of the pile side I have in it's original condition:

Had I known what I know now about the HHB I would have left it alone.
Anyhow, I think I had had it for 3 days when I sat down with a dremel, sandpaper, stains etc.

This is how it looked the day after modifying it

After use and handling it has mellowed some, here is how it looks today.

How you guys feel about it.... honest !

These are my three A.Wright Lambfoot knives with Buffalo Horn covers. I've noticed in another forum or two that a lot of people treat their horn with some type of oil. Perhaps because of my aging mind, I haven't read how you guys/gals take care of your horn here in the Guardian's thread. Perhaps some input from the Guardians would be helpful. Input from Charlie @waynorth and Jack Jack Black Jack Black would be nice as well as everyone. Thanks.

I bought a jar of Renaissance Wax years ago. It wasn't cheap, but a little goes a long way and I use it on both horn and wood.

I'm the same as you - I like to make things "mine":). I think that your mods to the cover turned out well :thumbsup:but I will confess...I don't think that I would have had the guts to do it:D.

It looks to me like your work on the pile side greatly enhanced the beauty of it. I love it.

Thanks for the replies Guardians !

I feel conflicted about it, every time I pick it up.

While I am happy on how it turned out I also wish I would not have touched it and left it original.
( I do feel better about fessing up to the Guardianship though :) )

Thanks to Jack for all his efforts in bringing us the HHB .

Cheers

Confession is good for the soul, Dan! I would have left it as is. Unlike some others, I make a knife "mine" by carrying and using it, and sharpening it when needed. I don't ever modify knives. But the knife looks fine. Wouldn't worry about it.

I like those guys racing with sticks- I just noticed them.

Maybe in case they meet any sassenachs on the way up the Ben! :D ;)

Good morning, Guardians!

Looking good Vince :)

Hey, where's the HHB?!! ;):D
These ebony '18s are so well built and just plain ol' good lookin'. This'n has been with me most of the week and it is going in my pocket again today.

Great shot, Jack! Any fishing in the streem?;)

The last harvest of the year from the garden, and Big'un was at hand to help!

Have a great weekend all!:)

You're missed Dennis :) Thanks pal, that's just a small stream running down off the hills into the River Colne in West Yorkshire. I guess it must have a few small fish in it, but it's pretty shallow and fast-flowing. That's a spectacularly colourful photo my friend :)

TGIF everyone!!
Since I have tacit permission, here is a picture of my 2-blade Joseph Rodgers with the secondary showing for completeness!!
Since we don't see a lot of 2-blade Lambsfoot knives, let me encourage those who have one to please show us! Please post yours!!:)View attachment 1438147 View attachment 1438148 View attachment 1438149 View attachment 1438150
The pen blade is almost fine enough to cut a nib for ones quill pen!!:D

Looks good Charlie, I prefer the long slim Pen blades seen on a lot of vintage Lambsfoot knives to the Pen Wright's use on their's today

Quality quartet Rachel :)

Good afternoon Guardians! I’ve been slacking the last several days. Spent a lot of time in the pool and whirlpool. After all we are on vacation! ;) I’ve been carrying Big Eb pretty much all week. I thought I’d catch y’all up on a few photos! Hope y’all have a great weekend! :)

Super tired Friday. I’m forcing myself to carry my Jack Black Jack Black SFOs. I’m scared by their scarcity because I don’t know that there will be any more.

Joe

There might not be anymore Joe, but I hope you enjoy carrying them :)

Good morning Guardians and all. Going to clean out the attic today:eek:. Weather turned cooler here in Coastal NC so it will be tolerable up there in the attic:thumbsup:. Going to need my HHB for breaking down boxes, etc.

Good evening Guardians! I've had a long tiring walk today, and am struggling to keep from falling asleep on my keyboard! :D Hope you're all having a lovely weekend :)
