Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks! The majority of my traditionals are sheepsfoot and wharncliffes. Something about those utilitarian blade types really suit my daily requirements. The history of these old blades is really captivating, so-much-so that I'm about to take the plunge! I really like the horn that most of you have but how often do you end up with less than desirable covers? Their ebony covers really do look fantastic, but the only one I can find at the moment is someone price-gouging on that most dreaded auction site :poop:

I like all the straight-edged patterns, but think the Lambsfoot has the others beat. I hope you'll take to the pattern. I've not seen a single one with bad horn or wood covers, and I've seen a lot :) We try not to discuss the buying procedure here, but as a general rule, I'd stay away from price-gougers, and buy direct if you can. Hope you get a nice one

You guys are killing me with the beautiful horns! Great knives!

....something old, something new..

Lovely knives Mitch, particularly like the IXL, but this is the Lambsfoot thread, so no Sheepsfoot blades please

Thanks Jack, most of my knife needs are cutting up cardboard boxes and plastics, these Lambsfoot Big'uns are especially well suited at these tasks. The blades shape allows effortless piercing cuts even into the multi layer corrugated stuff. I'm really liking them more and more, they hit the mark right out of the gate for me and I just like them more and more as time goes on.

It's more than 45 years since I was first given a Lambsfoot Duane, and I'm STILL liking it more and more :)

Yes I shall always keep any mentionings of the buying procedure vague at the very least, or likely not at all. I will say that I'm feeling my inner toddler come out at the moment. There's a voice in my subconscious that keeps saying "but mommy I want it NOW!" I think the horn covers will scratch the itch for now until the ebony model becomes available again.
Thanks for answering my questions and helping with the advice. You lot have set my expectations quite high for this one:D

Thank you :) Good luck in acquiring your first Lambsfoot, and hope you enjoy the pattern

I have my Midnight Special included in my carries for today. Y’all have a good one! :D

I believe you. I've been acquainted with the pattern for not quite two years now and I'm also liking it more and more.

My Buffalo Horn A. Wright Lambsfoot is, as @Cambertree put it, 'Mah Knife'. I realized this at some point last year, but, any doubt has been dispelled this year as I packed for trips. If I bring along a knife it's usually my Camillus 72 for whittling and, depending on destination, maybe also a SAK for picnic use about town. Twice now I've brought along a whittling knife for down time as usual, but also Mah Knife because that's what I wanted to have in my pocket ready for any other task. I guess I'm a full convert now.

Fantastic post Greg :) I wish we knew more about the origins of the Lambsfoot pattern, it's funny how slightly changing the blade from a Sheepsfoot could make it so much better. I know there's a lot of folks who look through this thread, see the great pics, and think they should try one based on those pics. As we all know though, it's only with use that you really come to appreciate the Lambsfoot, and it seems that the more you use it, the more you grow to love it :)

I'm totin this one in my choices for today. :D

Great-looking ebony Lambsfoot Ron

UK weather forecasters have been talking up the threat of arctic weather coming here for the last week - The so-called 'Beast From The East'! So far, it seems to have been more a case of 'The Hysteria From Siberia', where I live at least. Woke up to about a quarter inch of snow, and that quickly melted

Thanks Jack! It is a beautiful Ebony and I’m quite proud of it. :) You don’t get the opportunity for snow photos that often. Is that from the same weather system that hit Vatican City? I saw it on the news this morning. :D
