Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks Rob, I'm sure the former owner, John Maleham, would be as appalled as we are :(

Thanks for that buddy, I'll add John McClory :) Fine-looking Lambsfoot

I hope you've sent a card to Sheffield Scene.
Keep your chin up.
So they can punch you in the throat?
(how could the cutler miss this?):
Not looking, and not caring if he can be taken seriously? Pretty sad.
they'd simply ground down one side of the bolster, so it is plain on that side, with a stamp on the other side. A knife, like many more I picked up at the same time, which is utterly useless to me
This is incredible. And these were the glory days of Wright's.

Good image Jer

Unfortunately, I only learned about it after the closure had happened. I telephoned today, hoping to catch someone, but it was too late. I did leave a message, but I don't know if it'll ever get listened to. Locally, people have referred to Sheffield as the 'Biggest Village in the World' for hundreds of years, because everyone seems to know each other. I fully expect that I'll bump into the former manager, or one of the staff, on one of my visits to the city, at some point :)

Yeah, just throw it in the box and lie about it o_O

I just happened to come across that nice bit of rope. Nice bit of West Country whipping on it too, though I say so myself.
Here's some local good news: sunlight, after over a week of gruel-grey skies.

Blimey, the bad news just seems to keep coming! :( I just heard from one of my best pals. His elderly sister collapsed on Boxing Day, and had to go into hospital - where she has Coronavirus, and because of her age and underlying health conditions, is not expected to survive. Not only can he not see her now, but he thinks both he and his nephew may have also contracted the virus :(
This just plain sucks. Hoping for a full recovery!
Here's my old stamp, from the 1990's

Sorry to hear about this, Jack. I'll be happy to hear the worst is behind us one of these days soon.

This is the last of my two sweetgum trees. This one was 25" in diameter at the base. Good riddance!

Looks like you've been busy there amigo! :)

That’s a beautiful thing!

Thanks Mike, I had that stamp made in 1992 or '93, and the maker, who wasn't young then, is still making stamps today

Thanks a lot Taylor :)

Thanks Gary, I hope that day comes soon my friend

Thanks for that link, Jack! Very cool to get a glimpse at the work of someone who has “been there so long!”

Glad you found it interesting Mike :) Mick did quite a bit of work for me around that time, and I would pass his workshop, which was about the size of 3 telephone boxes, several times a day, He's certainly paid his dues :)

Enjoying those wonderful photo's of the Winter Shots.
Its very warm here in New Zealand at this time of Year.

a very sad time for our Family, we had to make the hardest decision and say goodbye to our Sweet wee Izzy - who you see on my Avatar - she was 16 years old, and we were gauging her quality of life very carefully- she did extremely well and was still a happy girl- just her old Bones failed her in the last 48 hours so I promised her never to let her suffer.

I have always loved my beautiful furry friends like they are my Children, my first dog was a Beautiful Rotti- Luke, he got to 14 & 1/2- it was the same for him too- his bones and joints just got too weak, then we ha little Murphy who was a rescue pup, it was devastating that we had to say goodbye at 2 & 1/2 because of a Terminal Tumour in his wee Head.

And now we are left so incredibly lonely with our gorgeous Girl Izzy - just so so devastated just getting through the day is very hard, but we will get there as we do, I am so glad we were with her all this time over Christmas, it was amazing just how in the last 48 hours she advanced so much towards that horrible time. I was praying that she just wouldnt wake up from her sleep - but we had to make that horrible call.
Death would not be Death for me if I knew my great mates and I were to join up again.

Back to knives..
I changed my EDC the other day, and my lovely Horn Lambsfoot awaits a final touch up to be ready for my pocket- I will do that soon.
Heres an older Photo of the Beauty Knife!

Go Gaurdians

I am very sorry to hear of your loss, Duncan - this has to be devastating.

The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's. ~Mark Twain

A nice-looking pair David :)

That is very sad news indeed Duncan, I really feel for you brother, and Sue :( Enjoy carrying your 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot my friend

Having only been founded in 1947, Wright's may never have been one of the great Sheffield cutlery firms, but they have certainly never sunk to a lower ebb. Is there anyone who DOESN'T think this is blatant theft?!

ZBGESVd.jpg

Not a Lambsfoot, but Wright's have never, ever used that stamp on a folding knife, and never made a bolster even remotely like that, before I commissioned them (under the previous management) to make the Hartshead Barlows. Shameful :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Jack, it seems you are beset by bad news all around - my thoughts are with you and your friends. This business with Wrights is really quite shameful and if it were not for the hard work you put in to ensure we got some exceptional knives, I'd be putting my Wrights made knives in a drawer somewhere to be promptly forgotten.

Nevertheless, these knives are testaments to your care and attention and that cannot be so easily cast aside. I will continue carrying and using them because of who inspired them, not because of who made them.

Some tea for me today - this one is quite lovely, has some good smokiness to it.

Thank you my friends who have commented on Izzy's passing, I am absolutely floored by her loss, only because I loved her so much- so there's no other way. I just commented to a friend, that I could be surrounded by a Million people and still feel so lost and lonely.

I hope with all my might that we do see our friends in Fur when we move on- if this was my knowing, I wouldn't walk towards the Light I would be sprinting! :)

Extremely nice Jack to see the stamping of your Jack Black Knives- ever since you told me about them much earlier on, I have always thought to come across one "out there" would be unbelievably fantastic.

Yes- as far as all the negative stuff goes about the continued use of stamps etc, that is what I was trying to convey before, just knowing that a company- and I dont really think it's important in what actual business it may be- there should always be respect and honouring of an agreement. I work in the Corporate World - there is no such thing as a Gentleman's agreement - its always cold and heartless - that is why when I work within the Corporate doing Training and such, I always bring in the Human touch- it works well.

Its just a terrible shame, maybe you need to pop around the Corner Jack and Knock on Taylor Eye Witness and get them back to their old Standards my friend- if anyone can you can :) Imagine That!!!! :D, I do realise its not as easy as that Jack- we certainly know you have done good to the Knife World!

I have very much like seeing comments that the people who know- know the Jack Black DNA'd Lambsfoot Knives that came back from the days of Glory, and the good thing about this- they are out there in real respectable numbers- Jack my friend only if I could do that, I would be a pretty proud man I can tell you!

After this I take my Lambsfoot to the stone  :)

I wont go on to you guys anymore about Izz- I will be talking to her for the rest of my days as I do to my other wee friends gone, but I want to share this neat moment with you- here is Izz at Christmas - she always loved helping us unwrap presents and tear away the giftwrapping- it was so funny- she still did that this year - here she is taking just one of her presents to it's Death bed lol, Izzy only went down hill in her last 36 hours - I am glad she knew she had love surrounding her..

The toy serial Killer herself :)...( Oh that beautiful face! )

This is my first time seeing this beautiful fur baby and my heart aches reading about her passing. I know fully well how you feel, my big baby passed in her sleep six years ago and I still miss her. She was a rescue English Mastiff and she was a gentle giant (240 lb ) with her family. I will tell you this, in all my years as a grown man I cried twice, once when my dad passed and the second time when Cheyenne passed. I believe they are never really gone as long as we remember them. Take heart, she is in a peaceful place now.

Thanks for the kind words Dylan :) Bearing in mind how many knives we had made, and that if they had played straight, they could have been making them for years to come, I think Wright's have made a pretty foolish business decision, apart from acting dishonestly  That looks exotic my friend, nice pic too :)

That's a lovely photo of Izzy Duncan :) Very sad that our four-legged friends lead such short lives :( Thank you for your kind comments pal, but I think I am done with Sheffield cutlers for a good long while! o_O

Good morning Guardians, miserable weather here, rain, wind, and gloom. It's very cold too, and in fact, just at this moment, it's started to snow. Hope everyone is doing OK, and that you're getting some sunshine ;) :)

I thought I'd carry the third of the Lambsfoot knives @Reaper AL sent me just before Christmas, which were re-built and re-covered by @jsdistin (in this case, with appaloosa bone) :)

Some fun photos there Jack:D. HHB is looking good too:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:.

Good morning Guardians and all. North Carolina (at least the southern coastal region) is sunny but chilly:). Maybe some brief showers this evening:thumbsdown:. Going in for my final chemo today. All the MRIs have been clear and bloodwork looks good. I had a port put into the right bicep muscle to facilitate my infusions which will be removed next Friday:thumbsup:
The new year is looking up so far.:) Hopefully, my wife and I will get our vaccine shots sooner than later. Getting a bit antsy to resume "normal" activities again.

Decided to keep my HHB in the pocket for good luck today.

Thanks a lot Bill, that's good news buddy, I hope everything goes smoothly today  It is just after 2pm here, and only just snowing, yet it has barely settled. A pal I just spoke to, who lives about 3 miles away, has a couple of inches, while another pal, across the city, has seen no snow at all :thumbsup:
