Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks to a kind porch member, who reached out to me with good advice, yesterday I received my first (and second) lambsfoot knife.
Thank you, K.

3 1/4" camel bone & 3 1/2" ebony, both in O1 tool steel

These knives are no joke! I was amazed how robust they are. 3mm blade stock! Might as well be my most sturdy folders, both traditional and modern.
The ebony just begs to be used hard. Everytime it is in my hand i feel like bearing down on it with full force cutting something. Can't wait til some yard work emerges from underneath all the snow.

I thought that 3 1/4" will be about on par with swayback gent. Silly me. It's an absolute beast in comparison with it.

WOW! I am surprised how stout that is. I don't own one. I would PM you to get the same advice but you don't have PM privileges.

I see that the thieves at Wright's have ripped off another of the Guardians SFOs :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

S SnailOffTheTrail Are you sure that is O1, as opposed to C70? The reason I ask is that, during my dealings with them, which lasted several years, they always explicitly refused to use O1, and it wouldn't be the first time they have simply lied about the materials they have used, as other members here know

Both the food and the knife look good Jack. Hope you had a great day. I've been working on taxes..eek:eek:! I've been so busy with the paperwork that I forgot to put a knife in my pocket:rolleyes:o_O.

Thanks Bill, that doesn't sound like a lot of fun, and I imagine you were walking at an angle after forgetting your knife  :D ;)

Gentlemen, please remove the knives that aren't Lambsfoot knives from your posts o_O

No, I am not. I just took their word for it. I wasn't aware that they had been problems with declared materials. I'll probably never find out. But a friend has some knives from the same batch coming his way and he also has their standard production. Maybe he will notice some differences in performance.

Sadly, their word cannot be trusted, as both myself and others have discovered to our cost. They have previously misrepresented the materials used for covers. The members here also put a lot of money their way with the assurance that the knives we were buying were exclusive patterns, but we were lied to, and the designs I've taken to them in the past have been stolen. So, unfortunately, they have a history of dishonesty. Since they refused to use O1 for a large order, and were very much against using the steel, which they have only previously used for some expensive fixed blades (another stolen design, but at least not from one of their customers), I'd be surprised if they bought the stock, and used it for a smaller batch of knives. They may have changed their minds of course, but sadly they cannot be taken at their word :( Sad to see that they have become such a disreputable firm

I noticed that the chippy at the bottom of my road are doing vegan doner kebabs! :D

There was a good doner kebab (/pizza) shop in Bath that we got takeaway from a few times when we visited my brother. The doner kebab was fantastic (and definitely not vegan). :D We never tried their pizza.

I will say that, for me at least, the unscrupulous business practices at Wright’s don’t diminish my enjoyment of the knives you’ve had made for us all, Jack.

Good for you! I cannot look at my knives quite the same way I did just a few hours ago. :(

Thank you my friend, all those knives were made when John Maleham owned the firm

I'm very sorry for that :( Maybe I can make it up to you one day

Good morning Guardians, I hope our friends in Texas and Oregon all get their power back on soon, and that everyone else has a good day. I'm carrying an old Lambsfoot (by Unity) today, made when the cutlers of Sheffield were better men, with corresponding reputations

Thx Jack, but I walk at a slight angle anyway:eek:. The wages of sin and age.:D Hope you have a good day.

I can attest for Jack's comments as I too purchased a "counterfeit" SFO knife from Wright. It required much fettling to make it acceptable and cost me mucho deneros. In the end I just couldn't keep it knowing what I knew.

Today is starting off cold and damp:eek:. About 60% chance of showers and going all the way up to 46 degrees F. Looks like it will be a day of packing upside garage stuff and more work on my tax return:eek:. Got this one in the pocket today but may switch over to something in a more corrosion resistant steel later on.

LOL! :D I have a few gait problems myself mate ;)

At least that one is the genuine article Bill :) That sounds like a busy day. Quite nice here today, I have been sat outside, doing some work on a walking staff I am making. Hope your weather improves soon

It might be Siberian, but it's a pretty plush gulag. I really can't complain, though of course that doesn't stop me.
Here's the pic my computer wouldn't see yesterday. Nice wood on Rose Beast.
