Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Cool pic of your Ebony '18 and Old Skool slingshot Jer

I have the same issue with my AC (the only one that was like that), and when I first got it, I intended to correct the issue. However, it is only very slightly proud, and since I carry my pocket knives in slips, it hasn't bothered me - to the point I'd actually forgotten about it! :D I dare say I'll get round to it one day ;)

I have to say, it is a very slight issue. I could only just feel the tip! :D

Fabulous Friday Lambsfoot Dwight :)

Those look like they fold much better, and I guess, in both cases, it's very fast to attach the bands/tubes anyway  Maybe I'll get another at some point :) Thanks for the photos

Welcome to the Guardians! :) Thanks for your excellent report. I have seen Wright's produce knives with oak covers, for other firms before, but haven't seen any walnut. That does look like oak doesn't it? A shame about the proud point, I have the same issue with my AC (the only one that was like that), and when I first got it, I intended to correct the issue. However, it is only very slightly proud, and since I carry my pocket knives in slips, it hasn't bothered me - to the point I'd actually forgotten about it! :D I dare say I'll get round to it one day ;) Overall, it sounds like you got a nice example, and I hope you enjoy using it :)

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is doing well, particularly Onebigbill Onebigbill (hang in there buddy) I was just about to type that we have another fine day here, until I heard the light rain on the windows. I need to go out to get some shopping later, and was also hoping to meet up with a pal, so I hope it blows over. Have a good Friday Guardians

Thanks for the good words Jack. I continue to improve but I still am fatigued and no taste or smell. The cough is better. Got a full nights sleep last night. I was told by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) that I must self quarantine until the 30th. I thank God that I had been vaccinated otherwise no telling how this would have ended. Recycling some photos of my Lambfoot knives.

Lets hope your ok. The most I got was a mild headache, a mild cough and dizziness which resolved in a few days.

That's a neat little piece of kit. I'm still perseverating over getting my Milbro sorted.

Some of my beers last night.

Thanks for the kind words David. I've had the chills, body aches, cough, headaches, congestion, and loss of taste/smell. Much improved today. Ive been instructed that I can come out of self quarantine by the 30th of the month. Glad you had such a mild case. I count myself as lucky as I had both vaccine shots so my case was relatively mild.

I'm very glad to hear you're getting better Bill, and hope that your energy and sense of taste and smell return very soon. The two friends of mine who tested positive after getting their first shots reported very similar symptoms, with the sense of smell the last to return, but they were both fully-recovered after about a week. You take it easy Bill, and rest as much as you can

Rotten Luck, Bill! They say the vaccine will keep you from a severe case!!
Best of luck!!
Just found out my younger brother was just diagnosed with Covid!! And he has not been vaccinated yet!! So far it's not too bad!!
Hi Charlie - many thanks for the kind words my friend. I am much better today; hopefully the worst is behind me. I indeed count myself as lucky.

Thanks much Jack. I am looking forward to retuning to "normal". Nasty disease but hopefully we all will get through this and move on with our lives.

Nasty as it comes my friend, I'm sure we won't ever forget these times

Thanks pal, tasty-looking brews :) I have to say, with the Milbro, I think I have discovered what I suspect most folks who bought the repros found - it's a nice piece of nostalgia, and takes me back to my youth, but in terms of accuracy and ease of use, it's nowhere near as good as a modern one! :D

LOL! Thanks Jack. Yeah I've not even got it strung up but your right the Milbro's really are quite nasty aren't they. :D

Here is my application for membership in the Guardians:

Lambsfoot knives are hard to find here in the US, but I found this in a shop I won't name in San Francisco. It is listed by the shop as a J. Adams, But the only mark on the knife is the oval "Made in Sheffield" tang stamp. Jack tells me that current J. Adams knives are made by the A. Wright & Son factory.

Since this is my first of this type, I'll go on a bit about my first impressions. The pins are all flush, and the spring is flush both closed and open. There is negligible play when locked open. The wood was listed on the web as walnut, but on the phone they said it was oak. This sure looks like oak to me, but I'm no expert. The blade is matte, and the bolster is polished bright. I could find no rough edges anywhere. The knife came VERY sharp, but I found a card from the shop saying that they had sharpened it. So I don't know if the shop or the maker made it so sharp. The bevel grinds of the edge are slightly uneven; the left side is ground ever so slightly higher than the right. Then edge bows up slightly at the point of the blade. The point of the blade is slightly too high. I could catch my finger or a business card on the point if I slide it over the closed knife. I filed the kick down slightly to correct this.

The pull is stiff, but I can pinch it open (just). It seems to be breaking in nicely, and has gotten easier after applying a little oil.

I'm trying to be as picky as possible here, but this is very nice knife, definitely a keeper.

Welcome to the Guardians. That's a nice acquisition you have there. Like Jack's below I aslso have a Wright's twin blade that's required a bit of filing of the kick to bring the tip into the frame. It was barely noticeable but it bugged me. Anyway again nice lambsfoot; I do like the covers.

Thanks. The SlingBow was only $5. I might just use it as is for pinning anacondas down.

I reckon I've watched to many hollywood B movies but I thought anacondas were all 28ft long and ate tourists. Lots of tourists. :D
That's a great looking slingshot btw.

Hey Bill good to hear your on the mend. Yip it's a funny one. Many of my nursing colleagues in their 30's felt quite bad with it and had 2 or 3 weeks off work. But the ward clerk (and her husband) in their 60's didn't even know they'd had it.
I'm glad I had a mild case except for the dizziness, which bizarrely, just for 5 minutes, was so bad I fell on my arse getting out my car. :D Luckily no one witnessed it.

A bit of fettling today on the base of my Ghillie Kettle.

Then I found out I'd been carrying two lambsfoot all day. So I had a bottle of this stuff:

Yeah, the frame is very two-dimensional, and I don't know why they even bothered with that rubber?! o_O

Great looking stag there Jose.

Thank you.
I think the anacondas are thicker after they've swallowed you.
Which of course is where the lambsfoot comes in.

We need to add 'cutting myself out of a giant snake' as reason to carry a lambsfoot:thumbsup:

LOL! :D Cheers David, enjoy your new kettle

Cheers Jack, hopefully I will. I actually bought it for when the lights go out.:thumbsup: Planning on building a rocket stove sometime next week.
Great action shot there.
