I hope everyone is having a good ThursdayIt's been a long day here, and a tiring one. I had a pleasant time with my friends at the market, but it rained heavily from 11.00am. I have a few things to do, but hoping to get caught up later

I doubt there's one in 10,000 Sheffield people even know that stone is even there. I remember taking my mother to see it, she grew up a stone's throw from the TEW factory, and even she had never seen it before. These past few years, the old cutlery factories are supposed to have preservation orders on them, but other listed buildings in Sheffield, some of national importance have been left to crumble and fall down on there own. In the case of the TEW factory, the firm didn't need a factory anymore, and didn't want to pay rates on it. They couldn't demolish it, so eventually Sheffield City Council took it off their hands. When they build the yuppie flats, they'll probably keep some of the external walls, or at least the tarted-up frontage, stick up some glass panels, that kind of thing. Some of the building may remain, but if it's anything like the other similar conversions, it won't look much like the old building. I have the plans somewhere, though they keep changing, and they talk about "building a community in the heart of the city". I know that area well, and it HAS a community, just not a rich one. Who knows what'll happen though, half these schemes never come off, the property speculators do OK, and the property stays emptyLove that stone, JackIt's a shame the old TEW building is being demolished.
My mate had some interesting items todayPhotos of market stalls and old tools, yes, is that a clamp with a drill attached. Looks like it on the table, and how does it work? I can't work it out.
That is code for " We're going to you know what the joint ".building a community in the heart of the city
Looks like you've got it pretty well covered.Good evening, Guardians.
A fine ale and a cigar, accompanied by my bone WCLF is making for a splendid evening so far.

Worked well, Todd@Playing around down on the dock this morning before going in to turn in my “end of the year” paperwork.![]()
The backlighting was making it difficult to see the knife, so I thought I would use it (the backlighting) instead of fighting it, and ended up with this.View attachment 1567471

Will! Here’s my humble offering, and request for membership.
It was sold as “J. Adams”, but the tang stamp only reads “Made in Sheffield”. The wood is supposed to be walnut. It came very sharp, with a centered blade, no play, and strong snap.
The point was barely proud of the handle so I took a DMT stone to the kick. It’s just tucked in now so it won’t cut a finger.
Jack, those are some fine looking tools! Between them and your HHB, I'm drooling a bit on my phone!I have a few things to do, but hoping to get caught up later

Also enjoyed your photo with your mates, a motley crew for sure!
Been a little out of commission lately, but we did get out and went camping (ok, in a camper trailer, then a cabin), but it was good to get out a bit!
Our cabin was top rate, had my gear ready, put a little touch up on the knife. The deer leg in the tree stumbled me, about 6 ft. Off the ground.
Enjoy your stroll JackI'll be out early to the market tomorrow, so I won't get a chance to catch up until later in the day. The forecast is for yet more rain, but I'm looking forward to it anyway. Have a good day Guardians

What a great old stone - hope it survives.A pleasure my friendI don't know how the old TEW Works looks today, but it is no longer owned by Taylor's, and is currently being transformed into yuppie flats, with parts of the building being demolished
For anyone here who hasn't seen the old factory, there are some pics in this thread here
I sure hope this old poem on one of the corner stones survives. When TEW were trying to get rid of the building, with an aim to get it demolished by contesting its listed building status, it was convenient for them to pretend that the date on the poem was an "old forgery", and perhaps they were even genuinely ignorant. In fact, the stone was taken from the nearby Debtor's Prison, which was demolished prior to the TEW factory being built
