Very few things more painful than hearing hammering after someone asks if you have a knife. o_O

But I'm not to annoyed about it, theres a reason I didn't bring something nice with me. It's very much in the army fashion to not have the right tools for the job. Although I do wish I had had my swiss army knife instead...

I'll just be grateful there wasn't any prying involved. 🤣 😅 some dents and dings I can swallow, a broke blade...

o_O     You have taken it a lot better than i would have, if i ding it, it's my fault. Just proves one thing though, not aimed at you, but at the imbicile who borrowed your knife, people today have no idea about the concept of tools and their uses. Specific tolls for specific jobs, and a knife is not a chisel, or whatever else the imbicile thought it was.

That makes a pretty poor hammer... A rock would have been a better choice.

It was used to try and unjam a metal button on a piece of "military grade equipment" which explains all the gashes as it hit the metal edging. The button was to recessed to reach with anything else, so I get his logic....however... I sure flinched when I saw his plan in action. o_O🤢

Oh Jon, sorry that happened to your Lambsfoot :( What a @%&*£$# idiot!! It's a long time since I let someone use my knife, I figure if a guy is too stupid to own one himself, he's too stupid to be using mine 😒 If someone asks if I have a knife, I ask them what they want it for, and then either tell them no, or tell them I'll do it. Even if it's just cutting off a button, or a piece of thread, the last thing I want is some fool's blood all over my knife! 😒 I hope you can sand out some of those dings, and be sure to tell the feller that you have pals all over the world marvelling at how stupid he is!

Hello Guardians! I can't believe I was a month behind on this thread, but finally got caught up again today. Jack had mentioned in another thread that you were chatting about coal mines on Sunday. That was a bit of a coincidence, and Christina and I were hiking to explore an abandoned coal mining town, and I had a Lambsfoot in the pocket ;)

Not a lot left of the Mine #1 or the townsite, but it was a fun outing for the day.

I recently posted some photos of a project that i had undertaken. A brief history, i had a Lambsfoot that i did not like from the moment i got it, the covers were cheap and plastic looking and far too thick at the end of the covers. I remember having an online chat with Dylan Pàdruig Pàdruig about this very issue, he had the same problem in a different colour and if my memory serves me right he had his recovered. So i was going to try a recover with some wood i have that will sand smooth and polish up nicely, but was warned this my be too big a job for my first attempt, and may ruin the knife. I did not want to do that, the actual knife is easy to sharpen and keeps a good edge, so i was given some other options, this is what i did. First i sanded it right back and smoothed the jigging taking particular attention to the end, i ended up removing about 1/16 of an inch from each side, and it now sits and feels a lot better in the hand, and the sides run parallel to one another. I then soaked it in some hydrogen peroxide, this is the method advised to remove dye and whiten bone, good in theory, not so good in practice. I soaked the knife in a 3% solution for 48 hours, but only a certain amount came out, but more on the lighter side, so soaked it again for 24 hours in a 6% solution, not much difference, so i came to a conclusion, that this only works on light colours and only some success on dark colours. I did some research and found a woman online who does this for a living so i contacted her and she verified my conclusion, will only remove dye completely on light colours and also the length of time the dye has been in the bone, so an old knife will not release the dye so easily. I thought this my be useful information for those out there that contemplate this method in the future, if you ever do and want some help or advise please feel free to ask me, only to glad to help. When i contacted the woman i thought of my dad, he always said if you want to know how to try or do something, ask someone who does it for a living. Anyway, did not get the result i wanted, but a huge improvement on how it was, i will give an analogy, if i saw it how it was for the first time in a store behind the counter, would have had a quick glance and kept going, now, if i saw this in a second hand store or market stand i'm all over it.

Would love your input and opinions, good or bad, i take criticism very well, i'm used to it.
