You should be safe if you don't over indulge, I used to live on stuff like that. When I hit the 50 mark, my body sent me a message... it was fun while it lasted but you better slow down!I hope not!Good to see you here
I still use hand drills far more than electric drills
Thanks for the compliment on the Encore, Harry.I think that is a great idea . What does that give you then of actual usable hand length then ??? Really like your Old Encore . Color of the bone , jigging , and worm grooves and all that other good stuff .
Harry

Are you a son of Whitby Johnny? Plenty of Whitby content, both in this thread, and on The Porch generally. There's even a thread or twoey up its not looking so grim up north,it was at times when I was a kid in Whitby.
2 questions.
Have you discovered Altberg boots,I expect so.
The mining stall you mentioned have you ever seen a snap tin there?
It's a fixer-upper.
I didn't know you were in real estate.![]()
Yikes!Great hikes Jack and John. We went out today too, looking for some snow for Dan... Here's a tease until we make it home.

Nice pic DavidAltberg boots are excellent. Some of their range are made in Yorkshire and some in I think it's either Italy or Romania. They're the current manufacturer for the current British Army assault boot.
They do deliver abroad but Lord knows how the conversion for boot sizes between countries would work out. Before I recently bought a replacement pair for these one's (Altberg Tethera) I e-mailed Altberg to ask them if they'd changed their sizes, (as many footwear manufacturers have in recent years) and was told they hadn't and that they still used the original lasts. But on receipt of the the new boots found they didn't fit and had to replace them.If your not ordering in the UK that could be quite a bind to sort out.

I think a custom Lambsfoot is a great ideaThanks for the compliment on the Encore, Harry.
The useable handle length will be 4 3/8" which leaves the blade a tad over 3"

Sticks are a good thing .Good morning John, that's another great pic my friend![]()
My internet connection seems to be running like cold molasses today, and since that's interfering with my work, and it's another nice day here, I thought I'd make a start on a walking staff I said I'd make for a friend's kidShe wants the bark leaving on, so it shouldn't take me too long. The tenon saw I bought from my mate might be OK on soft wood, but it's not sharp enough for seasoned ash
I cut it to size, took off the knots, and started rounding the top. Everytime I sit outside whittling, or working on a stick, folks stop and chat to me about it. Seems just about everyone likes the idea of making a stick!
