Excellent David! :) My great-grandmother used to say 'childer'
I can't claim that my relatives ever spoke like that. They were all Irish and Scots and the truly English side of my family were actually from Yorkshire.🙂

It isn't David, it's at Rodley, on the Leeds-Liverpool canal, between Leeds and Apperley Bridge

Those are fantastic photos mate, and I'd love to visit those pubs!
Cheers! Maybe someday it make it there, it looks a nice pub. I've just had to look on my map and of course Diggle sits on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal not the Leeds-Liverpool canal.

First pub of the day was actually the Dog Inn, Whalley.

The Swan with Two Necks, Pendleton (about 2 miles out of Clitheroe).

Bowland Beer Hall (tap for Bowland Brewery), Clitheroe.

The New Inn, Clitheroe.

Just taken a look at how to get to Clitheroe from Leeds. And it would certainly be an adventure for you. 😀
Oh, and given it's proximity to Yorkshire. it was Yorkshire prices for ale 😁

I see the romance of rail travel went down the toilet in your country as well as mine.
Certainly did, was a delight to travel by train and something you looked forward to, " ONCE ", then here as over there the bean counters got involved. There are many old branch lines that would be fantastic tourist train routes if they had not been ripped up, just so much lack of foresight. But at least you and i were lucky enough to enjoy good old fashioned train trips and travel.
What a beautiful loco. Is that still running?
NO, the " Offspring of Unknown Parentage "🤬🤬🤬😡 scrapped it in 1954, an absolute disgrace and tragedy. It would be a major tourist attraction if it had have been kept and maintained.😭😭😭🤯😡

Project update, have had the blade opener soaking in the solution for 4 weeks now, something happened during the week that i have no explanation for, the solution started to produce a lot more bubbles. Bubbles indicate the solution is still active, so maybe there is more dye starting to be leeched out, only a guess, but there has to be a reason. So i am just going to leave it now and see what happens and how much dye is leeched out, also want to see the reaction to the metal in the solution over a long period of time. This maybe handy to know for future reference for any members that want to try this method. A few of photos from 4 weeks ago till this morning, there is no doubt the bone is a lot lighter in colour.

After seeing these results will most definitely continue the experiment with a re dye.

Hope everyone has a good week.:)

That's a good start Kevin :)

I KNEW you weren't ALL bad! :D ;) Two of my great grandfathers were Irish, but they were both killed in WWI. I met two of my great grandmothers, but only remember one of them

Let me know if you ever fancy visiting David :) That sounds like a great crawl mate, smashing pics there :) I've never been to Clitheroe, but I do remember Jimmy ;) :D

I have to say, I don't think that was worth putting a tanner in the back of the telly for! :D

It's such a crying shame Leon :( As you say, train travel was once something to look forward to, it certainly isn't now, or only rarely

Fantastic reading and history. It is very easy to destroy or pull something down, but once it's gone, it's gone forever. Good to see you have preservation societies keeping your history alive.:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Condiment bonus
I would like me some of that Yorkshire relish, thick or thin, i'll take it as it comes. Some nice British sausages and Yorkshire relish.:p:p:p😂😂😂

Last day of Cracker Jack's "week in the sun", so I'll post a couple final pics of his turn as Lambsfoot of the Week. They're actually brand new photos, which I almost never do. But today was sunny with temps in the mid 60s, so I took some knives out for a walk and photo shoot.

Absolutely mate, we might have a few less cars on the road if we still had a decent rail network :( I know an old feller who comes down to the market. Brian is in his 80's now, but he used to be a bin-man (refuse collector). Some years back, not long after Brian retired, his best mate passed away, and having nobody else to leave it to, he willed Brian his house. Brian decided to treat his missus to a a trip on the Trans-Orient Express, "with the full mashings!! :D

I know where the vast factory used to be in Leeds, down near the river. Apparently they produced millions of bottles a year! I was hoping to post an old photo, but Google's relish content is rather dominated by Henderson's! :D

Sunday stag. :)
Great-looking Lambsfoot JJ :)
