Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Reckon I'll tote this tomorrow. Such a beautiful knife.
Great to see that one Vince :)

Hope he brings a " Nellie " back for you.🤣🤣🤣:p
He did buy the cake yesterday! :D

Good morning Guardians, hope you're all feeling bright and breezy today ;) It's breezy here, but raining too at the moment  I'm hoping it'll brighten up a bit soon, as I'm meeting my pal for our weekly coffee and cake meeting ;) Got a Bagpipe Ebony Big 'Un in my pocket, and a song in my heart! :D Have a great Friday Guardians

But what about the " Nellie Bligh ".😜

No pie :( I left a bit early yesterday, as I needed to pay a bill, and get some shopping, so I had some loop-de-loop in a cafe to try and warm myself up. It was cold here yesterday, and even colder after a few hours in the open air

Loop-de on a cold day, doesn't get much better.:p:p:p:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Cold here this morning, but no snow to speak of. I hope my niece won't be disappointed in her drive home.

Same here J, it's been raining hard, and we did have a few minutes of sleet earlier, but no snow so far. I hope your niece gets home safe and sound

Wrote this post around 9pm last night, but was apparently too tired to realize I hadn't actually posted it! o_O:( Holiday, indeed! 🤓

Good to see you here, Vince, and I hope you (and all of the Guardians) have had an enjoyable day filled with gratitude for many things, including captivating cutlery like the example you posted!:cool::cool::thumbsup: I'm sure "Black Friday" will be better for you with that classy desert ironwood lambsfoot in your pocket! Here's a recent photo of mine with some features in the grain similar to those of your knife:

Better late than never Gary! I guess we've all done that at least once :) It's nice to see your Valley Jack :)

Tasty-looking pic Ted, hope you're having a great day :)
Thank you, sir. I did get to join my wife and both our moms for lunch and that more than anything was what I am thankful for. I would have liked to enjoy a glass of something other than water but I had to go to work....

I don't understand this whole rhyming slang thing. Does everyone use the very same slang to "replace" the same actual word (e.g., everyone uses "Nellie Bligh" for "pie")? And does everyone understand the same "contractions" (e.g., everyone recognizes that "Nellie" is short for "Nellie Bligh")? I can't think of what "loop-de-loop" represents; all that comes to mind is "chicken poop", which could be warm, but unlikely to be served intentionally in most cafés. :rolleyes:o_O;)

Man Jack in September 2015, and then in May 2016; perhaps a little more patina in the more recent shot? (Actually, what I thought was patina in a "small preview" of the earlier shot turned out to be just a reflection of my knuckles, so there's actually significantly more patina in the more recent photo.)

Thanks pal :)

That's good to hear Ted, though I'm sorry you had to work. I hope things have eased a little generally though

While much of the rhyming slang used in Australia, Scotland, and Ireland is old London Cockney rhyming slang, each country has developed its own enrichments, and continue to do so. An old Irish friend of mine used to say, 'German Spy' for pie, but I have never heard anyone else say that. Some claim 'Isle of Skye' is Cockney rhyming slang for pie, but I've not heard that either. 'Nellie' (or 'Nelly') has a couple of meanings here, one of which means life, as in a common old expression, 'Not on your Nelly', meaning 'not in your life' or 'definitely not' - Nelly Duff - Puff - Puff meaning a breath of life. While most rhyming slang, which uses names, relates to an actual person, albeit often rather obscured by the passing of time, nobody seems to know who Nelly Duff was. Other examples of this kind of slang are Charlie Drake - Steak, Ruby Murray - Curry, and Joe Baksy - Taxi. 'Loop-de-loop' is soup ;)
Thanks, Jack. :)

Great comparison pics of your Man Jack my friend :)

Good morning Guardians, we have a storm causing some disruption here, and the rain and hail was battering my windows so hard I barely slept. I did purchase a new camera about 1.00am! :D I woke up to a light covering of snow, the first of the year. I'd already decided not to go for a hike today, because of the weather, and I certainly have plenty to do at home  Wishing everyone a great weekend, and I hope our US members aren't getting tired of turkey sandwiches ;)
