Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

We often lose a few people to carbon monoxide in these situations. Of course you know better.
I think in a recent hurricane, half the deaths were caused by exhaust from generators that people apparently didn't want to spend the money to have properly installed.
Anyway, you might be talking about cooking, not heating with gas stoves.
Terrible Jer, and it's not hard to see how it happens when folks are cold and desperate. It was a major killer of high level mountaineers too, where extreme temperatures and severe weather forces climbers to cook inside a tent, while lying down. I have gas stoves for cooking, but I wouldn't try heating with them, that's where I'd have to rely on warm clothing, and hot-water bottles, like we all used to do in the days before central heating

In fairness to the people who were killed by their generators, they didn't necessarily have the money to get their generators properly installed.
I have a kerosene heater (oil stove in Japanese) in the garage. I think it would be safe to run that in the fireplace. I should find it and see if it works and if I have any kerosene (parrafin in English?) for it. Maybe even put it in the fireplace before I need it.

I don't live in an isolated area, and I have candles, storm lanterns, gas stoves, and plenty of warm clothes
You sound well-prepared.
As long as we have our camping gear, we will survive.
My fireplace and stove are gas... just have to light them.
Plus I stocked up on battery powered lanterns with extra batteries.
Hope you have a good day
Thanks... I hope you have a good day too.
Those biscuits look amazing. 🤠

Yes, a friend of a friend died of CM-poisoning because the guy who serviced his gas boiler didn't do his job right :( I have a battery-operated CM detector, as you really never know. Yeah, it's paraffin here, you don't see the heaters much anymore, but you certainly did in the past. I have lamp oil for my storm lanterns, but kerosene is less expensive. I hope you don't have any problems this winter Jer

Thanks John, I try to be :) I was just thinking of batteries, I also have a couple of battery-powered lanterns, and always keep a good stock of lithium batteries in. I think I've only suffered one brief power-cut in the past 30 years (used to be more common before that), but you never know. Who'd have imagined the events of the past couple of years?
Thanks... I hope you have a good day too.

Thanks again my friend, I'll eat another biscuit for you :)
Good morning Guardians. Gloomy day outside but at least no rain until the wee hours. Going out today to play some golf. Will be carrying my HHB later on.
Hope everyone has a safe and pleasant day.

More information please.o_O:eek:🤣🤣🤣
Story time:
There was a small patch of strange, red-orange mold growing on the tile grout, which had evaded various efforts to eradicate. When it was my turn to try, I decided to pour bleach on it and let it sit a while, then scrape it. I sprinkled the bleach, but the bottle was just about empty, so I picked up the bottle of ammonia to finish covering. I shut the door and went into the common room to take a break, quite proud of myself, I declared, "I think this should work. I used bleach and ammonia!" Everyone over-reacted. Ran around yelling that the house should be evacuated, etc.

Two common household items, stored near each other and commonly used for the same purposes of cleaning and disinfecting, must not be used together. So I learned.

After opening windows and airing the place out with fans, I never had to clean bathrooms again. A win, I'd say. (although the mold didn't die. It just turned white for a while)

I like the stag. It's a bit thicker then i thought it would be. But i think it fills the hand. Very happy with it. It's my first time having stag covers aswell.
Glad you like the stag, if i can give a little tip, which may help you like it even more, not guaranteed but may improve it. Quite often knives can sit in the factory as they go along the manufacturing process, as they sit there they can gather dust, grime and very fine metal dust. If you give the covers a clean with a soft cloth and some good cleaning liquid, you will be amazed at what grime can come out of the covers. I used to have photos but had them deleted, i use PH neutral leather cleaner, but you coud use any sort of good cleaning liquid. Give it a try, you may well be surprized.

I knew somebody who did that habitually. She was a nurse, too. I suppose she might have been trying to kill herself by accident. But she was strange.
