Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

This one kept me company at work yesterday and going back to work today.

I hemmed and hawed about buying a 2018 Guardian. I knew they'd be great, but I couldn't justify getting one. I already have a large rosewood, and a medium sized Guardian in horn. I told Jack that what I really wanted is a small in stag. Today I received a most generous gift package from Jack!

Along with a great drink coaster, and an intriguing old penknife, is a beautiful little Sambar Stag Lambfoot! Thank you so much, it's perfect!
Now I have the "full set" :)

Thank you, Jack!

And a fine set it is, Rachel!!

Jack, I hope you have got the plumbing squared away, and don't have too much of a moisture mess! As if you don't have enough work to do!! Thanks for putting this project together!! Yet again!!
I just got back from Paris yesterday, and it is nice to be greeted by the pictures of arriving ebony Guardian knives. ( I thought of calling them Blackguardians, but the implications are inapt!!:D)
Keep the pictures coming folks!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Charlie, the sunny weather has probably helped, as everything seems to have dried OK. I'm hoping I don't have any more problems  I could have really done without it though! I hope you had a great time in Paris Charlie, have you been before? Blackguardians is pretty funny! :D Now that you're back from your travels, I'll get yours off in the pst my friend :)

Great start to my weekend over here! Thanks for staying the course and all your hard work Jack Black Jack Black , They are truly wonderful!

Glad they made it Kevin, and that you are pleased with them :) Coincidentally, I have just been out walking in the area near where your old Penny is placed! :) The pewter bead is by a South African designer called Mark Stotesbury

Thank you, Jack!

I'm glad you've got the Full House now Rachel! :D  Your Little 'un is one of five Wright's made for me :)

Pardon me everyone, I have to blast this thread with pictures:)

Jack,
Thanks for the time and effort you put into bringing us these wonderful knives! I know the stress was high and it's very gracious of you to push through and land these knives in our mail boxes.

You really went over board on the treasure chest that arrived here yesterday :thumbsup: I was like a 6 year old on Christmas morning ! Your generosity is appreciated and will be remembered :thumbsup:

Now for a few pictures.

It's rare Now days to get a hand written card or letter. Very nice !

The post card and book were attached to the outside of my treasure chest.

How fitting is it that I'll be enjoying this little book with our pair of Yorkshire Terriers:thumbsup: They will get to see some scenery from the homeland of their ancestors ;)

Oh and I open the book and here's another nice surprise ! A couple of cool post cards!

I break open the chest and that was no easy task :) Jack really packs em well

I'll post pictures later with each gift with one of or both of these beautiful knives :)

It's hard for a guy possessing such lackluster photography skills to capture the true colors of this bone but the first pictures are under the patio out of bright light.

I'm glad that everything made it my friend, particularly the lovely TEW Lambsfoot Barlow you very kindly let me have a look at :) I wanted to provide it with as much protection as possible on its return journey :)

You have a smashing pair of Yorkies there :) Great to see your two Guardians Lambsfoot knives too :)

More pictures! I can't help it, I really like this guy! There's enough character to the stag to be interesting, but has a nicely polished feel in hand.

The mark and pile side don't match in color, but I don't consider that as important as the fact that they are a great match in shape/thickness. I like the thicker stag on a single blade knife, to make it comfortable in hand, without being crazy chunky.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great to see some more of that one Rachel, so glad you're pleased with it :)

The Odyssey does not appear to go quite so far. Perhaps there is something to appease the tech gods in that early ancient update The Aneid. Sorry mate you're on your own! Have a fine weekend!

Nothing springs to mind, but if I have any more problems with Windows 10, I might be calling on the tech god Linux! :D

These are looking great! Way to go Jack.

Thanks Joshua :)

You got a beauty there my friend :)

Well chosen, interesting photo having the Atwater factory seal read "A water factory" surely this will please Neptune! The photo also reveals the nice patina on your lambfoot!
I noticed the missing "T" after posting the photo, but didn't notice the relevant "message" until you pointed it out!!:thumbsup::D Don't know whether the "T" wore off in normal commerce, or was just bleached out by my taking flash photos of most of my beverages on the kitchen counter where I rarely have enough natural light for a clear pic.

Thanks GT :) Here is what it looked like before

The pile side was worse, just an ugly knife!

Sounds like a plan my friend, four has got to be better than one hasn't it?!

Congrats, Jack, that's a beauty!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: And some other thoughtful Jack-to-Jack swag as well! ;):thumbsup:

I received my ebony Guardianfoot (and some other cool and thoughtful items:)) yesterday, but only got the chance to snap some pictures after I left for a roadtrip out to Western Victoria this morning....
I'll snap some more pics as I continue my journey, but for now, here's some libations to propitiate the old Sea God. I hear he likes black coffee and red ale!;):D

Congrats on the 2018 Guardians ebony Lambsfoot, Chin; very handsome knife!! (Does using your pocket knives for cutting food on the plate dull the blade relatively quickly? I use my knives for food prep on a cutting board, but, given my rudimentary sharpening skills, I'm leery of using my knives at the table!:rolleyes:)

Congrats, FBC!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Did you order both an ebony and a horn model? Excellent! At first, I thought your pic was comparing the 2017 and 2018 versions, and I was astounded to see so little patina on your horn knife!

My newest arrivals showed up from England earlier this week, and I couldn’t possibly be any happier. Both the Ebony and Stag Little Lambsfoot knives are perfect! The Stag has great character and fits perfectly in a watch pocket, and the Ebony is jet black!!! Thank you so much, Jack, for all your hard work and the time you invested to bring us these beautiful knives. Well done my friend!

Things have been beyond busy, and I apologize for my absence but rest assured a Lambsfoot has been my daily companion. I recently finished the college course that was consuming my free time outside of work and was then surprised by a few back to back work trips, but those are now complete, and I have a bit of time to catch my breath.

Friday I took the Stag Little Lambsfoot knife on a beautiful walk to the summit of Mt. San Gorgonio. It was nice to get some miles in and head up to elevation as in a few short weeks I am taking a much-needed vacation and heading on a long walk through the Sierras accompanied by one of my lucky Lambsfoot knives.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'd say a very nice match of slabs, equal thickness and as you say, on a smaller knife thicker handle slabs make for comfort. What I like in Stag is that each side can be different provided both are attractive. The smaller L-foot is my favourite but the latest Giants of Ebony do look impressive

Regards, Will

We will need to see if there is a connection between the strange photo message and Jack's success at getting his plumbing sorted. If the repair is effected well and at low cost, it must be the mighty hand of Poseidon. If not, it is just a fluke!

Don't think that I can't see what you are up to... first you temp me with fine Sheffield cutlery and then send me maps of wonderful places to visit...you are trying to get me to come over there to buy you pints and some of those pub sandwiches that I can't remember the name of. ;):p:D
Thank you, Jack, you always send the coolest packages! My wife saw the little anvil and literally squealed " It's soooo cute!!!" and something about dropping it on Bugs Bunny's head. I love the coin too, it is most definitely the coolest penny I have ever seen...and now I own one!

Wouldn't it be great if we could all meet up and buy Jack Black a couple pints?

I hope y'all aren't tired of seeing Li'l Sambar yet, but I'm having fun taking pictures. I've got the edge thinned out a little bit, and a patina is starting. (the blade looks dark in the pics because of the angle. it's still pretty shiny)

What did you use to thin the blade?

We'd have to make a long weekend of it, he couldn't drink that many in one sitting!

I guess I don't mean "thin the blade" so much as sharpen at a more acute angle. I used an old Niagara Carborundum stone, then a Spyderco medium ceramic stone. Since I'm freehanding it, I don't know the exact angle, but it's something under 20 degrees per side so I can finish on fine ceramic rods.

I see; I wasn't reading carefully. Since Andrew (traumkommode) modified that Navy knife into a lambsfoot, I've been really impressed with its slicing capabilities with the thinner grind he did. It seems like a belt would be the easiest way to do it, but I'm curious if anyone has ever used sandpaper on a flat surface and just freehanded a grind that way.
