Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

I think your stag Senator is very appealing, Jack.:confused::thumbsup:
I won a similar model in an R.c.s GAW that I think is a fine knife that doesn't get carried often enough.

(Currently, my horn Guardians Lambsfoot is one of the knives I carry every day, independent of my weekly rotation schedule. But I'm thinking of instituting a "lambsfoot mini-rotation" as part of my quotidian quartet. I'll soon have 4 A. Wright lambsfoot knives that I could carry a week at a time, in turn. I'd still have a lambsfoot in my pocket every day, it just wouldn't be the same lambsfoot from week to week.)

Thanks GT :) Here is what it looked like before

The pile side was worse, just an ugly knife!

Sounds like a plan my friend, four has got to be better than one hasn't it?!

Is it the aesthetics, or the ergos ?

Both Duane, I only have a modest dislike for the pattern, it still has a great blade, but I think it's a real dog's dinner, while the name is just stupid o_O There's a reason classic patterns have been around so long

Golly Jack! A good thing you hold just a modest dislike for the pattern, an expression of full on distaste or absolute disregard must be expressed in some powerful verbiage indeed!

I was hoping to have a day catching up with email and doing a few things in the house. Then a pipe burst in my kitchen! Made quite a mess :( Just waiting for a plumber now o_O
Ahh, I see you have had endured the wrath of Posiedon this day. You must go to your local and lift a pint or two in his honour (or that of the plumber if he was able to prevail), and restore your humors to proper balance (recall what happened to Odysseus).

In spades I'm afraid :( Burst pipe, caused by a blocked drain backing up apparently, took the "emergency plumber" four and a half hours to get here! And he was useless! I shall toast Poseidon with malt whiskey nonetheless ;) Long day, and I hope it isn't raining tomorrow :) Have a great weekend Guardians

Nothing else for it then. I call on all guardians to pour an Emergency Libation and toast the health and well being of the of the Founder of the Order of the Guardians. Perhaps our numbers encircling the globe will cause the old sea god to back down! I shall raise a glass as soon as I return to my home and hearth.

My Neptunic toast was done with an Atwater Brewery Vanilla Java Porter. I also raised couple of spoonfuls of cold Amish potato salad on Jack's behalf - it couldn't hurt!:D
Well chosen, interesting photo having the Atwater factory seal read "A water factory" surely this will please Neptune! The photo also reveals the nice patina on your lambfoot!

I received my ebony Guardianfoot (and some other cool and thoughtful items:)) yesterday, but only got the chance to snap some pictures after I left for a roadtrip out to Western Victoria this morning.

I'll post some more detailed reflections on this fine Lambsfoot later, but suffice to say I'm very pleased with it. This one will be a user, so I gave it a quick thinning out behind the edge last night, and sharpened it on a progression of 400, 600, and 1200 grit Atoma diamond plates, before refining the edge with black and green pasted strops, then some 1, 0.5, and 0.25 micron diamond pasted smooth leather strops I recently made.

I'll snap some more pics as I continue my journey, but for now, here's some libations to propitiate the old Sea God. I hear he likes black coffee and red ale!;):D

I love the contrasting character of my ebony example.:thumbsup:

I hope you're all having a great weekend!:thumbsup::)

Maybe Venus Cloacina can help. I will light her a candle and beseech her in your behalf.

Great pics, as always Chin, glad you have your 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot :) It sounds like it's getting put straight to work :)

Poseidon has been appeased it seems, many thanks :) Unfortunately, I am about to have a Windows 10 update foisted upon me, so hoping I'll still be here afterwards! o_O  Hope everyone is having a great weekend

Jack, I hope you have got the plumbing squared away, and don't have too much of a moisture mess! As if you don't have enough work to do!! Thanks for putting this project together!! Yet again!!
I just got back from Paris yesterday, and it is nice to be greeted by the pictures of arriving ebony Guardian knives. ( I thought of calling them Blackguardians, but the implications are inapt!!:D)
Keep the pictures coming folks!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I'm going to regrind the blades on mine sometime this week. The rosewood I received has a deep enough nail nick that I think I can grind both sides of the blade. The Guardians knife, however, has a bit of a shallower nick, and since it has such a heavy pull, I'm considering just grinding the pile side of the blade down to zero and doing sort of a chisel-ish cutting profile, leaving the mark side alone so I don't loose any meat on the nick.

I really like the size of this pattern.

I hemmed and hawed about buying a 2018 Guardian. I knew they'd be great, but I couldn't justify getting one. I already have a large rosewood, and a medium sized Guardian in horn. I told Jack that what I really wanted is a small in stag. Today I received a most generous gift package from Jack!

Along with a great drink coaster, and an intriguing old penknife, is a beautiful little Sambar Stag Lambfoot! Thank you so much, it's perfect!
Now I have the "full set" :)

Thank you, Jack!

Pardon me everyone, I have to blast this thread with pictures:)

Jack,
Thanks for the time and effort you put into bringing us these wonderful knives! I know the stress was high and it's very gracious of you to push through and land these knives in our mail boxes.

You really went over board on the treasure chest that arrived here yesterday :thumbsup: I was like a 6 year old on Christmas morning ! Your generosity is appreciated and will be remembered :thumbsup:

Now for a few pictures.

It's rare Now days to get a hand written card or letter. Very nice !

The post card and book were attached to the outside of my treasure chest.

How fitting is it that I'll be enjoying this little book with our pair of Yorkshire Terriers:thumbsup: They will get to see some scenery from the homeland of their ancestors ;)

Oh and I open the book and here's another nice surprise ! A couple of cool post cards!

I break open the chest and that was no easy task :) Jack really packs em well

I'll post pictures later with each gift with one of or both of these beautiful knives :)

It's hard for a guy possessing such lackluster photography skills to capture the true colors of this bone but the first pictures are under the patio out of bright light.

More pictures! I can't help it, I really like this guy! There's enough character to the stag to be interesting, but has a nicely polished feel in hand.

The mark and pile side don't match in color, but I don't consider that as important as the fact that they are a great match in shape/thickness. I like the thicker stag on a single blade knife, to make it comfortable in hand, without being crazy chunky.

The Odyssey does not appear to go quite so far. Perhaps there is something to appease the tech gods in that early ancient update The Aneid. Sorry mate you're on your own! Have a fine weekend!
