Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Same here... Cash is becoming useless.
The world's gone mad! Used to be you'd get a discount for hard cash
My son, who has been to Yorkshire, said all the food was very authentic tasting. I wasn't expecting the Pasty to be so spicy, so I really didn't need Hendersons. ;)
Has he really? That's very interesting John
Taking a cue from Gary?

I really like the AC's, they seem like a wonderful size and all the stag is nice.
Always! :) The AC is the only Lamb in that size I've really taken to. The blade is only fractionally shorter than on a standard Lamb, but overall it's a noticeably smaller knife. The stag seems to give it better handling characteristics than some of the similar-sized Lambs
Our bars still have ATMs.
We'll see if my favorite bar still has one if they ever reopen from the Mothers' Day Friday fire.

Very sensible  Cool pic Jer
I finally got around to playin' with my new light box, and took some new photos of RALF and his American cousin.

Wow, great pics Jeff, I'm going to have to try building one one day
Having a relaxing day at the ocean.

Where we are staying... Little Venetian.

Seems to be an English theme around town... Pubs and Bars.

Took a leisurely walk along the beach...

Walked the pier, both on top and underneath...

And gathered a few shells along the way...
That looks great John :) Funny about the English theme :D
Found a new mascot for Grumble Towers
LOL! :D That's certainly how I felt this morning! :D
I have a DMT MagnaGuide guided system, but haven't had the level of success I'd like with that either. :( I've just never been very adept at developing manual skills without LOTS of practice, and that may be what's preventing me from developing sharpening skills. (Of course, many people will object that "Practice makes perfect" isn't quite correct and should be modified to "Perfect practice makes perfect", but that really doesn't give much hope to the unskilled! ;)) I should also mention a notable exception: I've actually had some moderate success in sharpening old Imperial and Colonial carbon steel knives I've acquired.
True! :D
When I visited my daughter in Spain, I enjoyed seeing 3 kings scaling many balconies on multistory apartment buildings. And we took a bus from Denia to Valencia on January 5, arriving at the Valencia bus station in the early evening. We tried to take a cab to our hotel downtown, but the driver warned us he could only get us close, and then we'd have to cross the route of the Kings' Day Eve parade on foot, dragging our luggage. It was a challenging adventure!
They do have a real sense of fun over there! :D ;)
That big rosewood is a big deal, Jack!:cool::cool:
Thanks buddy :)
Here's another shot of Cracker Jack:

I got a nice surprise today Guardians, a package from across the pond! My Michael May finally arrived. My first impression is that he makes a very good lambsfoot at a reasonable price. The fit and finish is very good . The Bocote handles are well figured and imho beautiful. There’s no gaps on the back spring and the blade is centered and well honed. With brass bolsters, pins and liners, what’s not to like. The pull is stout and nice and snappy. In the near future I may have to have him craft another more custom knife as this was one of his standard ones. This year is ending on a very good note for me and let me wish you all a Happy New Year‼️💥💥💥

Sounds like he's getting better at building them.:thumbsup:
Great looking bocote and a nice clean edge, fanatic, looks like you got a nice one!
Thanks! There is one complaint I neglected to mention. The knife came shipped in a box inside a small padded envelope and the box was crushed but luckily the knife was not harmed. Seems that a sturdier shipping box should have been used especially for one being shipped such a long distance.

Good Morning Guardians

I'm enjoying my visit to the beach. It's pretty chilly and raining off and on, but we are still finding ways to have fun.

Found this really cool driftwood teepee somebody built along the beach.

Found a really good English Pub next to the beach. I split my Pasty with my son and he shared his Bangers with me.

And of course I have my Usual Lamb with me, the only knife I brought on the trip.

Having a relaxing day at the ocean.

Great pics, John, I hope you’re having a good
time. A town full of pubs sounds like my ideal vacation spot! 😁

Did you ask if they had any Henderson's?! :D

🤣🤣

Congratulations, attractive bocote  That looks considerably better than most of the ones that have been shown here previously by Mr May. Does he make the parts for his custom range? Happy New Year buddy :)
He was part of an exchange with another school over there.
His host student was supposed to come over here and stay with us.
But the boys didn't get along at all, so he went and stayed with somebody else. 🤣
LOL! I think that sort of thing is very common! 🤣

That is rather thoughtless, knives need to be sent in crush-proof containers :(

I once went over to Sheffield to see progress on some SFOs. The horn was completely different to what I had been promised, so I rejected it, and asked them to get some more. When it arrived, it still wasn't clear what the horn would be like when the knives were made up, so I asked them if they could send me a couple of samples, to save time, as we were now behind schedule. Several days later, the samples still hadn't arrived, but there was some confusion about whether or not they had actually been sent. I was told they'd take special care this time. A couple of days later, I received a card from the post office asking me to make a payment for a package which had insufficient postage. The archaic system is to go to the post office, buy postage stamps to the cost of twice the amount due, and post the card back to the post office. The following day, I received two samples, they had been dropped in a small, thin, previously used envelope, without any form of padding, and with a second class stamp affixed. Then, two days later, I received another, similar envelope, containing two other samples - the first samples sent - It had been delayed because of the lack of a postage stamp! None of the horn was anything like described, and we had simply wasted another 10 days 🤨

Good morning Guardians, I don't know about you, but I'm struggling to remember what day it is at the moment! Hope everyone is doing OK. I delivered the gifts to my friend and his family last night, and then we went into town for a Thai meal, and then to see a really awful film (Titane - maybe I'm missing something!) I'm meeting up with another pal today, for a few pints, and another meal :) Think I'm going to carry my AC again ;) Have a good day everyone

That looks absolutely lovely. Perhaps Mr May could do a new equivalent of the Guardians SFO?

Good morning Guardians. We've been blessed with several weeks of warmer-than-usual weather here in southern coastal North Carolina. Played golf yesterday near 80 deg F. Today the same weather and it will continue until New Years eve. At least that's what the weather man says-LOL. Normally our temperatures range in the high 50's but who's complaining! Hosting a holiday neighborhood get together this evening and masks are required. I'll be carrying my Bagpipe Ebony.

Thanks, Barrett. :)
There's not much to this little town but a small beach, a few pubs, and several Mexican restaurants... but that's about all we need. ;)
I think when I retire, I'll track the days by the knife I wake up with.
Wake up and see MIcarta in my pocket, then I know it is Tuesday.
Wake up and see a Two Blade in my pocket, then I know it's Wednesday. 🤣

And this was back when that certain cutler was capable of understanding and doing good work?
If the film is French, it must be too deep for us.
I may have used this pic already.
