Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Can I ask you guys, how come some A. Wright & Son lambfoot knives have "REAL LAMB FOOT" etched on the blade whereas others don't? I can't figure out the answer myself and unsolved mysteries like this irks me more than they should.
I think it's like how GEC puts an etching on some of their knives and not others.
It's an added expense and I'm not completely sure what rules their decisions on it.

'REAL LAMB FOOT' is perhaps the most traditional marking of the ones often found on old Lambsfoot blades. Many of the Lambsfoot knives you're seeing here are probably SFOs rather than standard range knives. Prior to the 2017 run of Guardians Lambsfoot knives, Wright's had stopped using that etch, largely because it was an extra stage in the manufacturing process. I asked them to revive it for that SFO, and was involved in etching the blades with John Maleham, the former owner. After that, I know that at least a couple of the firm's other customers asked if they could also have the etch, but generally, as I understand it, they are not generally produced with it. The company now has new ownership, and I don't deal with them anymore. I hope this explains things

He will be back in the Spring for a week. 🤠

Sounds way better than the lady that does mine at Super Cuts... she just wants to talk about her kids.
That's good John :)

Oh no! :D Before I started going to Barber Brian's, I went to a hairdressers, (also in the market), and all the time the young lady was cutting my hair, she was talking on her phone. I didn't go back

This explains things perfectly. Thanks!!

Being stranded in a snowed-in pub has always been a dream of mine! :D
How about if they've booked an ABBA cover band, which is also snowed-in with you?
Great pic Rachel  I like liquorice toffees, but I can't eat a single one without losing fillings or crowns! :D
I like them too, although I must say that the texture of those Black Jacks was...different. Kinda tallowy.

If I'm ever daft enough to get more Lambsfoot SFOs made, I might have 'REAL LAMBSFOOT' etched on the blade ;)

Hmmm....Well I think I'd rather have an ABBA cover band around than an Oasis one, which I think is what they had at the Tan Hill Inn  :D Good job it wasn't actually Oasis, as they wouldn't have had room for the Gallagher brothers egos under one roof!

Yes, I think they were smaller and harder 60 years ago, when they were sold individually at the price of 4 for a penny :D

I may regret this in the morning, but I have one mince-pie left, and I didn't have a Rusty Nail at Christmas ;) Cheers Guardians

I make my Rusty Nail cocktail with a blended Scotch like Dewers with a twist of lemon rind. Never tried with Irish Whiskey. Cool phot with the Lambsfoot knives.
I'm off to get a shave, so I don't get picked up for vagrancy when I go to town  Maybe I can even find Barber Brian open, and get an overdue haircut  ;)

I like the Feather blades too. I have a single edge razor that I use their single edge blades in. Your HHB looking good Jack.

Today is cloudy/overcast and cold - won't be going over 45 deg F but I've got my HHB by my side so things aren't all that bad.IMG_3056.JPG

I am also happy to use blended Scotch Bill :) I rarely have it in though, and certainly wouldn't want to adulterate one of my malts, so I often use Bushmills or Jamesons, both of which are inexpensive here. I'll have to try the lemon rind, I think it'd work for me

Thanks Bill, as it turned out, I felt fine today :D ;)

We have similar tastes in many things my friend :) I've been using Feathers 10 years or so now, and find them beyond compare

Sorry the weather is miserable there today, but a Hartshead Barlow always makes for a brighter day ;)

Good Morning Guardians
My boy is headed back to Omaha this morning... I'm going to miss him, it's been a great visit.

It's strange how fast it happens isn't it? Some nice wood on your Lambsfoot there Todd
Thanks Jack. It really does go so fast. 😊
Just having a scone with my afternoon cuppa

That looks tasty, now I’m hungry.
I’ve noticed that happens a lot around here.
😊
It's sad, right.
You just get used to them being back, and...
…then they leave and the dishes actually start getting put in the dishwasher instead of piled in the sink…no one comes in at 1:00 am and cooks a snack (and leaves the dishes in the sink)…no one takes your favorite Bucs sweatshirt without asking…man I missed him already. 🤣🤣🤣
Great picture, Todd. 🤠
Thanks John.

Thanks Todd, it kept me going 😉👍

Beautiful Stag Jack - Wow!
Looking at everyone's Hartshead's makes me want to grab mine out - but the AC has ben with me for a while in my EDC rotation- I am sure the HH will come out next change :)

Thanks a lot Duncan, it was nice to add that one to my pocket for the day. One of the things I like about the Sambar, on that particular knife, is that is cut very thin, how stag used to be cut for Sheffield knives :) I'm glad you're still enjoying your AC, and I'll look forward to seeing your Barlow in due course 👍

Too funny... I like it. 🤣

Well... There is that. 🤣

Excellent portrait, John, especially framed with the slip in the background. Here to you seeing your Son, soonest.
My son went back yesterday. My daughter just got back from her training trip to Florida and is coming here today for a quick visit before heading back to school. Then it’s back to the empty nest. 😊View attachment 1718367
Nice image. That perspective really shows off the beauty of the wood.

Yummy!

I’m so glad you kept this beauty, Bill.

Good Afternoon Guardians.
