Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Just noticed that the Guardian's World Map is down, or at least the link in post #1 is no longer working! 😳 Calling Guardian btb01 btb01 ! ! 👍

That's odd... both the link in post #1 and the link in my signature work for me. I even checked them in "private browsing" to make sure they weren't just working for me because I was logged into my Google account, but the links took me to the map either way.

Very strange Barrett, perhaps it is some sort of Google interference at my end. When I click on the link, I get a map of North West England (including the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District. I'll try a few things too, and get back to you buddy 👍

Edit - Is there an URL or something I can search with using Google maps Barrett? The link still doesn't work for me, and I'm just getting my Google maps account.

Are others able to use the link? Can some of you folks give it a try please? 👍

Update - The link works OK on my PC, but not on my phone. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it seems that it's at my end

Thanks Barrett btb01 btb01 :)

It'll take a while to get the muscle memory back, but you'll be terrorizing squirrels in no time.
:D
I need a nap. Try that.
🤣
It was! :D
What’s your top drawer choice?
I have several good coffee roasters in my area, so I try to buy freshly-roasted beans (nothing too fancy). I mostly use a French press, but I have a stove-top espresso maker, an Arabic coffee pot, and an AeroPress. Today though, I'm thinking I might head to my local cafe (Sicilian/Moroccan), which does great coffee, and then I can get a croissant on the side :D ;)
Good Morning Guardians
Great pic Harvey  :)
Had a sausage sammich myself this morning Jack. 😉👍

Been doing some work around here today, started my day with a sausage sammich.View attachment 1737014
Good for you Todd, great pic there buddy :)
I know what you mean, John. I like to taste my food, too, but I like some of my food to taste like spicy seasonings. 🤓
:D
😁 The "magical" thing about birthday suits is they ALWAYS fit perfectly! o_O 😲 🤓
Jack, I'm sorry to hear that you're not getting the sleep you need either. I've occasionally had short stretches where I had difficulty getting to sleep when I first went to bed, but nothing like that for a while. Now I can't even read when I go to bed because I fall asleep so fast. But the waking up after sleeping for a while and not getting back to sleep is a new and disturbing development, although the past week or so seems to be better. I haven't used my CPAP for a number of years; it just never seemed to make much of a difference for me in terms of preventing me from being sleepy during the day.
LOL! :D It's just the same with me Gary, I still occasionally struggle to get to sleep, but usually, even if I go to bed to read, I drop off quickly, but then I wake up after 3 or 4 hours, and struggle to get back to sleep. When I do eventually drop off again, I wake up every hour or two. I'm glad things are getting better for you again my friend, and hope that continues. After a couple of years of not using my CPAP, I'm trying to give it another go, but struggling, and half the time I fall asleep so quickly, I forget to use it completely! I only learned about CPAP machines here on The Porch, from yourself and others, and had a sleep study done as a result. Some folks reported they made a huge difference to their lives, and I was hoping that would be the case for me, but while I slept better with mine I think, I still lacked energy and felt tired during the day. A side-effect of seeking treatment was that I was diagnosed with a slight vitamin D deficiency (endemic here), and taking supplements had a bigger effect on my health than the CPAP machine seemed to
Nice of you to say so, Jack. :) I do think Lam Jack has fully recovered from his horn shrinkage that first winter. But I know that in a para-military organization dedicated to guarding lambsfoot knives my chances of promotion in rank are slim-to-none after the patio pratfall!:(
LOL! :D You definitely get a Mention in Dispatches for your Herculean multi-quoting efforts though Gary! :D ;)
I'm just wondering if there's any chance of improving my promotability in another way? Are there "Five Knots That Every Guardian Should Be Able to Tie" on which I could work? What sort of "bend" would you recommend? I've been working on the sheet bend, and the double fisherman's bend, and the zeppelin bend (and wondering why I can't just tie two ropes together with a square knot).
Unfortunately, many knots have different names here, but I would recommend that everyone know how to tie a Figure-of-Eight, such a versatile knot :) But let me return to this subject, after I've had my coffee, if I may. Key questions are, what are the knots for (fishing, rock-climbing, shelter construction, shoe-laces), and what are you tying (string, kernmantle rope, paracord)?
LamBar Jack has been my Lambsfoot of the Week since last Monday. We've had a fair amount of snow this week, so here's LBJ 2 years ago with my new-at-that-time boots (over which I usually wear some 4.5" high rubber overshoes):

That's a great pic Gary :)
Hello, Porch Friends and Guardians! Despite what my lack of recent participation here may imply, I think of y'all often and almost always have a lambsfoot in my pocket. I hope everyone is doing OK and that your lambsfoot knives are getting put to use. :)

I'm starting to dream of summer adventure and you can count on this one or one of its flockmates coming along. :)

Fantastic to see you here Greg, and it was a lovely surprise to receive your letter recently :) I'll be in touch soon my friend :) Hope to see more of you here, and wishing you happy trails and great adventures. Your Lamb is ageing nicely :)
Thank you, GT. I like 15 to 30 minute naps with no alarms, thank you.
Those are my kind of naps too Harvey ;)

Good morning Guardians, well, we seem to have made it through the storm, in terms of all the problems with the site. Hope it stays that way  I also hope you all had a lovely weekend, and that you're ready to start another week, with a Lambsfoot in your pocket, and a song in your heart ;) I'm rushing a bit, and can feel myself falling sideways from a lack of coffee! :D I have a new pillow being delivered in a few hours, so I need to get to town, and back before then, but first I'll be going for coffee ;) Have a good day everyone

I just noticed that RALF's stippling has caught some lint . . . I need to turn my pockets inside out!

That's a good-looking knife Todd :) I'm guessing that is your fishing hat buddy?
Yes, it is one of a few I have but it’s the favorite, at least when it’s not too hot. Picked it up in the little store where we go fishing sometimes. Nothing special, made in China, but the leather seems to be good quality and it has really held up over the years. 😊

Good Morning Guardians
Two hours after waking up, I'm still waiting for my first cup of coffee.
The drip coffee maker was acting up, I tried a couple of times to get it to work, and finally settled on my standard low tech method.
Hi John - that pot probably still makes the best cup of coffee. Great photo of you Lambsfoot too.
:D

Hello and good morning Jack. Thank you for you previous kind comments to me. I see that many posts here recently are talking coffee. I love the stuff but can't have it due to the caffein (which my heart can't tolerate). I'll get de-caf once in awhile but it just isn't the same and besides, there is always some caffein in the de-caf anyway. But oh do I love the smell of coffee in the morning. Very nice photo of your HHB.

Good morning Guardians, hope you all are doing well. Today is cleaning day. That is to say that my wife is having the cleaning ladies in this morning. So I am going to scram out of here for the morning. HHB by my side.

Cool fishing hat, Todd. 🤠
Hi John - that pot probably still makes the best cup of coffee. Great photo of you Lambsfoot too.
Thank you, Bill. :)
It was my preferred method for years, but the drip machine is a lot faster.
I both hate and love it when the housecleaners show up.
I love it because I no longer need to clean the house to my wife's standards.
I hate it because I'm stuck outside in the cold, meeting with students virtually, until they finish.

Hard to beat a favourite hat :) I used to sometimes go fishing with a work-mate of my dad's. His fishing hat was a cheap, camouflage, Boonie Hat, that he called his 'Burmese Terrorist's Hat'. Eventually, it got so tatty that he decided to treat himself, and bought a smart, if rather eccentric, tweed deerstalker. He'd wear it as far as the bank, then replace it with his old 'Burmese Terrorist's Hat'! :D

Morning Bill, that's a shame about the coffee my friend. I'm sure you remember that days when the smells from coffee roasters and breweries would waft for miles, but these past few decades, things seem to have changed, certainly here. Maybe more efficient filters or more stringent regulations, I don't know, but I sure miss them :) Thank you Bill, I hope you have a great day with your Hartshead Barlow. I just cleaned, oiled, and stropped mine, but the winter sun dropped down, and half-blinded me while I was doing it! :D

What prompted my spritz of the Barlow was the pics I took with my new pillow, which was just delivered :D :)
