Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Having something a little different, to keep me going today, some Indian snacks, pakoras, bhajis, samosas :)

It must be 4 or 5 years since I last went to the seaside, so when my girlfriend asked me what I wanted to do, on my birthday this week, I said I fancied a day trip to Scarborough, on the North Yorkshire coast. It's been beautiful, sunny weather this week, but it seems there is different weather in store next week :(

I was dog-tired last night, and in bed early, ready for our clocks going forward :D ;) Unfortunately, I have a bunch of dull tasks and chores to take care of today,
No rest for the wicked.😂 Take it easy as you can,
I just noticed that I'm less than 500 posts away from my 50,000 post milestone, and that this thread is 100 pages short of 3000 pages! Think I better start planning a giveaway ;)
Quite a milestone. Congratulations🎉

Great set of Culinary goodness, Jack.

Here’s to Birthday wishes being granted.
Good Morning Guardians
Nice.

Question to the lambfoot experts:
I'm getting interested in A. Wright's lambfoot knife. The kick on the blade (left) looks different to all other knife-makers. Did the guy who designed the stamping tool simply do it his own way, or is there a technical reason? Sorry if this seems a bit detail-obsessed.

LOL! :D Thanks Harvey, pottering on! :D It's kind of hot in the house unfortunately. I'm hoping I can get an hour in the garden this evening

Thanks again buddy :)

The kick on the left is very traditional Luke, and the stamping tools most Sheffield firms have are extremely old

That newspaper looks a couple of decades old (at least)! :D The tools are older

The weather forecast keeps getting worse! Now they're forecasting rain, sleet, and temperatures down in the 30s

Thanks gents.

Great pics Jack, looks like you had a smashing day. The blossom looks a bit more advanced than it is on'th wrong side. It's usually the other way round.

Great pics David, what's the story behind the mystery beers? And talking of beers, any pub recommendations for Scarborough?

There bourbon cask stouts aged for about 7 months. There were two bourbons but I can't remember what they are as neither bottles had been labelled at the time. I bought two of each and drank two when I bought them. They were really nice. But these are an extra 4 months old and they were really nice. 😋😋

Was last in Scarborough about 3 summers back. I can't recall the order but:

Tap and Spile, an old pub out on Falsgave Road/Seamer Road A64 junction.
Next to that is the Firk Inn. A micropub.
Stumble Inn, another micropub further towards town past the Firk Inn at the junction of Victoria Road and the A64.
Golden Ball (The Sam Smith's pub on the quayside).
Leeds Arms, St Mary Street (my favourite pub in Scarborough).
North Riding Brew Pub, North Marine Road.

The others I know of, but I've not been in them for a while now.
Cellars, Valley Road.
Valley Bar, Valley Road.

And there's another real ale pub called Scholars on Somerset Place which isn't far from the station.

Hope you have a nice birthday.

They sound delicious :) Thanks for the pub info, much appreciated :) My mate with the tool stall goes there all the time, but he'd sup owt! :D I've been in the Scholars, and had the Stumble Inn, and North Riding Brew Pub noted down, as well as the Hole In The Wall, and Indigo Alley. I've been in plenty of Scarborough pubs in the past, but can never remember them, apart from the Spoons and the Sam Smiths on the front (which I didn't actually know was The Golden Ball)! 🤣 Thanks mate

Your welcome. Yeah I could never remember what pub I go in either as I tend to find Scarborough a bit of a rabbit warren. I'm not sure why like considering one entire side of it is the North Sea.
Never heard of the Hole in the Wall or I don't think I have.
