It’s been a while since I went to work. My first day back and I had my new lambfoot on me.
That's a nice-looking new acquisition Jon, congratulations

Hope your first day back at work went OK
Thoroughly enjoy the history lesson.
Thank you Jack. Good to know. The jigging is what spoke to me,, though it will require some effort to return it to service. It’s no light weight. A very solid piece, capable of hard use.
Thank you Harvey, you're the man to do it my friend, looking forward to seeing more of that one

Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society was an epistolary novel from 2008. Quite charming (much better than the 'meh' movie based on it).
Thanks for the tip Tyson

I think I was only 7 or 8 the last time I read it, but isn't Verne's
Journey to the Centre of the Earth written in that style? That may have been the first epistolary novel I read - I'm bound to forget the term though, even though I can still remember the full name of 'A.S.' in the Verne novel
Not only do they get a Patina going, they are one of the better ways to test a knifes sharpness, " Nature's Bess Tester ". Get your knife, and with the weight of the knife only, has to be just the weight of the KNIFE ONLY, run the blade from top to bottom of the strawberry, { The top being the green from the stem } must be at 90 degrees to the surface of the strawberry, in other words completely perpendicular to the surface. If it slices into the strawberry by at least the depth of the bevel it is sharp, the deeper it cuts into the strawberry the sharper it is, strawberry's have one of the naturally toughest skins of any fruit. There endeth todays lesson.
That sounds like great fun Leon, going to have to give it a try

Thanks mate
I'll order 2 boxes of them at 1'6 each. You can mix up the scales, i'll take what you send me.
Haven't we all!
I'm not a gun guy, by any means, but I sometimes enjoy reading those "pistolary novels" Rachel mentioned with all the shoot-em-up action!!

Cool pic there buddy
Thanks for the kind words, John and Jack.

The photo of Man Jack was taken at the college campus I often walk through on weekends because of its attractive woods and streams. It's a Catholic college, and there's a path leading from the campus chapel through a woodsy area to one of the oldest dorms. Along the path are little displays like the one in my photo of the 14 (?) stations of the Cross, made and installed by a Scout as his Eagle Scout "project". I was raised in a Protestant denomination, so I don't know much about some of the "more Catholic traditions" like Stations of the Cross. I took the photo, but had to google Veronica. (I don't know much about Eagle Scout requirements either.)

That sounds like a very interesting spot Gary

I know of an isolated spot, which has something similar, erected in 1850.
lol Thanks Jack !

I am afraid the plate had no good food on it, we bought it a some tourist trap shop at the top of the mountain.
It has been on display for many years on a sort of ledge or half wall between the living room and the stairs to the outside of the house.
The darn cat has knocked it over a hundred times and still in one piece LOL
LOL!

I think every family has something like that Dan
Great to see your '19 Vince

That was some nice Ironwood wasn't it?
I don’t think you need help at all. I love seeing y’all’s collections. I just have to stick to my self imposed limitations.
Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone's week got off to a good start

Think I'm going to drop this
