Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning, Guardians. Been a while since I've posted here. My work/family demands tend to override the forum and this thread moves way too fast for me! Still, I occasionally stop by to see what everyone is toting for the day.

If you haven't entered my GAW yet, it's open until Saturday! Jack Black Jack Black was gracious enough to let me purchase two of these at the time, but I wanted to let someone else have a crack at it and hopefully the winner will enjoy it just as much as I know most of you here do. The one up for grabs is on the bottom.

Regarding sanding down stag..... I did that with one of mine a few years back, but just enough to remove the scratchy brown part, left the antler grooves and was very careful around the pins. If you're going to sand it, I wouldn't go too crazy, and beware those pins!

It has aged a bit since these pics, stag shrank a little bit and I need to sand the liners to match, but still a beauty!

Have a great day Guardians!
LOVE those two Hartsheads :),Knife collecting is so very much up to the individual and their tastes, me- with Bone or Stag, I absolutely love the "Scratchy part" its the natural story of when the Host was sporting them.

It was me... I did it to Skoll. :)

Very Sweet! 🤠

Have fun at the Market tomorrow... Let there be cake.
That's right! Thanks buddy, hope your own day goes well :)
Thank you sir !! I forgot to add the quote to the first response .
All posts can be edited
That stag looks great polished like that! I have always liked the looks of polished stag , especially when there isn’t much bark left on ! To me it looks almost ivory like and it ages so well!
Really? I guess everyone has different tastes when it comes to stag, I like the gnarly stuff best :)

Looks great Ken, fantastic work :)
Very cool!
I like that much better than the new GEC #88. 🤠
Yeah, me too by a long way, and that's not knocking the #88 at all
Cool pic :D I was in a pub the other day, and the middle-aged lady behind the bar was working out all the prices on the calculator on her phone  It was the pub I went to after the Pace-egg play. They were expecting it to get busy, so they had stripped everything down, just 2 ales on, and no food, other than crisps/chips, and they had rounded-up all the prices of course  I always assume older folks can do mental arithmetic, particularly when it's 4 + 4 + 2. but it seems not. Took ages on the phone

That’s nice. congratulations.
Thanks for the extra photos Harvey, really interesting to see more of that one  Potter aren't a firm I'm familiar with, but I'll go have a look :)

Generally speaking, I wholeheartedly agree with both of you, and Jack, that is a very fine stag knife in your picture:thumbsup:.

However, I am not really a fan of most of the Pere David stag and to be completely honest, I love the polished look of this one. Made it my own doing that. Decided to put it back in my pocket just now 😀PXL_20220420_235040542.jpg

I love a nice gnarly stag too but it's my first time with Pere David stag (didn't even knew the name before today) and i must admit it got a really strange and smooth texture (for stag). Polished Pere David stag reminds me a lot of my old Otter Ivory bone... if both of my cover were big fat chunk of unequal stag i would probably go with the polished stag but for now, i'll keep my weird texture stag and unequal scales... at least as long as i take the time to decide what material i will choose for the recover! Wood is a classig... but a nice jigged bone, gnarly stag or even micarta would look great on that pattern! 🤔
