It's great to see your unique Hartshead Barlow again my friend
I hope that I can join without a conflict of interestThat sounds good and I nominate you as the official club photographer.![]()
LOL!Ha! Jack I must be getting on in years because the calculator is my best friend!![]()
That actually looks very nice Steve, better than the Trevor Ablett knife I have with polished stagGenerally speaking, I wholeheartedly agree with both of you, and Jack, that is a very fine stag knife in your picture.
However, I am not really a fan of most of the Pere David stag and to be completely honest, I love the polished look of this one. Made it my own doing that. Decided to put it back in my pocket just nowView attachment 1797820
That's also very nice work ToddHere’s my newest Lambsfoot, that got the rounded edges treatment. While I was at it the bolster got some filing also.View attachment 1797831
Looking good Jon, stay safe out thereThanks Jack and Todd
I like the work you did on that one.View attachment 1797846
I’ve got the duty blues tonight, and again on Saturday
The Sheffield cutlers were really hit by the Indian Government's rather inexplicable export ban on Sambar stag some years back, and since they're too clueless to source Sambar elsewhere, they tried various substitutes ever since. Unfortunately, British stag does not have bark of the same character, and the 'bark', (if you can call it that), of Pere David Stag is often more grey than brown. Soon after the Sambar ban began to bit, I received this monstrosity from Wrights's. Thankfully, it was under the old management, and they replaced itI love a nice gnarly stag too but it's my first time with Pere David stag (didn't even knew the name before today) and i must admit it got a really strange and smooth texture (for stag). Polished Pere David stag reminds me a lot of my old Otter Ivory bone... if both of my cover were big fat chunk of unequal stag i would probably go with the polished stag but for now, i'll keep my weird texture stag and unequal scales... at least as long as i take the time to decide what material i will choose for the recover! Wood is a classig... but a nice jigged bone, gnarly stag or even micarta would look great on that pattern!![]()
They look very much like sweet and sour jellies. Making me drool.![]()
You must have missed this recent post LeonYou do know that to assume makes an ass out of you and me.
You too buddy, enjoy the day with that fine LambsfootGood morning Guardians! Looks to be a rainy day here in the foothills , but that’s alright since I work inside ! Just makes it hard to take a morning or evening stroll ! I hope everyone has a great day ! View attachment 1798087
That's sounding good Bill, have a great dayGood morning Guardians and all. Golf day today and we are getting a good one at that - sunny and warm but starting off in the 50's. Going up to the low 70's. Just beautiful out there. Our contractors all made it yesterday and I was surprised. Gonna cost me some shekels though.

I love the polished stag, I guess when it comes to stag like Jack I like it either gnarly or polished … I don’t care much for it when there is just a little bit of bark !! So no in between for me! Either side of the spectrum! Fantastic looking lambfoot sir !
ThanksJust posted to show the similarities between white bone and polsihed stag. No problem! i removed the picture!
Have a nice day!![]()
That's a great pic of Old Toffee Wings Jer![]()
It's raining here, but not snowing.

Those sandwiches look very tasty BarrettHey Guardians, hope you’re all having a nice Thursday. It’s sunny here, and warm enough. I had a couple pulled pork sliders for lunch, got to get some stuff done around the house while my youngest naps, then we’ll pick her sister up from school and head to a park.

In Guardians of the Condiments news, it seems I’ve used up the last of my favorite BBQ sauce. I thought I had another bottle stashed away, but I guess that was this one. Can’t get it locally, and the shipping makes it pretty pricey to order, but it is good.![]()
That has built up some great characterPopping in to share some moss & Hartshead Barlow goodness

Thank you very much HarveyAnother great t shirt meme.
Thank you Jack.
You’re off to a good start.
Thanks Leon.Done a good job on that, i tend to let the sharpish edges just round off a bit with usage, but i never get that look that you have.![]()
Thank you, Todd.Cool shot John.
Looking good, my friend.
The only time I'd heard of it was in a Monty Python sketch. Something about a blancmange from outer space turning everyone into Scotsmen, so it can win Wimbledon. You have a good memory Gary!I only ever had it coloured, but my father reckoned it was traditionally white. We used to have a pink blancmange bunny on a 'bed' of green jelly (jello)
It's one of the austerity foods, from WW2, that has disappeared, and is probably unmourned by most
