Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Sliced 3 home grown tomatoes today, rinsed and dried immediately after.

That's the fun part of the patina process right there, when the electric blues, reds, and Browns all make their marks upon the steel :)

Yep, I think it's far more dramatic with a polished blade :)

Last time I had one was in a pub more than 40 years ago!! I wasn't aware they put it up in cans, now - lol.

Yip, cans is all we can get it in nowadays and it's been like that for years. Apparently they do still use bottles but only for the export market, which apparently is quite large in north America.

:D:D
Thanks for the Man Jack mention, David. :)

So what was your verdict on the stout?? ;)

- GT

Your welcome. The stout was terrible. It comes in a x4 pack of 330ml cans and is only 2.8%. But after drinking each can I came on with an awful headache which lasted about half-an-hour. Don't know if it was off. Nor was it as tasty as I remember it either; quite bland actually. Anyway it was only a one-off experiment so I won't be worrying about it. See if you can track some down in the US and give it a go

Thats a great patina there Rob! My lambsfoot went like that but I couldn't for the life of me think what I'd cut with it. Then I remembered it could of been a chorizo sausage I'd had for lunch the day before.
Can't really see it in todays pic though.

I wonder if they have changed it David? It's a quality beer dessert where I live, and I picked up a couple of bottles of Dog the other night. I never thought it was a great brown ale to be honest, but it's definitely gone downhill since they moved production to the big Coors brewery at Tadcaster, and dropped the ABV

Cool pic and some good reading there :) It's funny what'll affect a blade and what won't. I think the AW polish is pretty resilient for everything non-food related. I was halving some strawberries with my original ebony the other night, and they really deepened the patina

My Guardians edition still has its polish, but it won't stay forever. I hope I can keep a bit of the etch though :) Sun was so bright today, most of my pics were unusable!

Thanks David, who needs patina with horn like that one:eek:;)

Just stopped in to thank Jack for my recent Guardian's ebony lambsfoot. What a nice example it is. Unfortunately, I don't have it with me on the trip we're on now to take a picture. Haven't had any time lately to post anything of interest on BF, so I just check in from time to time. Things are finally settling down for my schedule and I'll see you all around more. Thanks again Jack!

Absolutely smashing GT, that's some splendid-looking rosewood :) I keep forgetting I have this one in rosewood, one of the pre-production samples for this year's Guardians knives

Some first-rate figure in your horn, Rob, and incredible instant patina!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT! I was wondering about the tomatoes myself, they are the Bradley variety a friend grows every year. Very flavorful but delicate fruit, they won't stand up to commercial transportation so we enjoy them for 6 to 8 weeks and they are gone til next year.

Probably Jack. Alot of these breweries alter recipes when they take over a brand. And theres always that thing about the taste being effected by the change of the water when there brewed in another location. It's a real shame about Newky Brown though, and says alot about Tadcaster if they can't get that right.
It's a bit of a quality desert round where I live to :(. I've got to cycle or an hour walk at least to find even a half-decent ale.

Saying that I know a few drinkers who are adamant that Thwaites Lancaster Bomber has actually improved since it left Blackburn :D

Aye I'd read about the robustness of Wright's polish on here and it's something that my other Wright's seem to prove, so I was really surprised by how quick the patina formed on my horn lambsfoot. Maybe what you need is to eat more Chorizo :D

Cheers Rob, it's become my favourite knife recently to. Totally different colour horn on the pile side though.

LOL GT. I say try it if what I've read is true, the export version is in bottles and I think slightly stronger. It could be a completely different animal
