Wikipedia calls that a "shepherd's stick".Cold Steel's "axe-headed stick", a quasi ciupaga.
I was looking for a synthetic stick, and this is what I came up with. I'm always worried a two-piece stick will break at the join.
Thanks ship-mate!Arrrrr... Nice Knife Matey.
Enjoy it I did.![]()
Thanks again my friend, I need to go out and get a bit more sunshine (I'd go to a country pub, but in an hour or two, and for several hours after, the roads in and out of Leeds will be packed!)That looks yummy.
I'm glad the weather is nice and you're out enjoying it.
I've looked at the same one myself JerCold Steel's "axe-headed stick", a quasi ciupaga.

Thanks Jer, I'll try and remember to get a pic before I hand it overThanks. That willow wand sounds great.
I have a couple of wild cherry trunklets that dried perfectly straight, but split a bit. Yes, Virginia, it really is advisable to seal the ends.
Absolutely!I have dozens of canes and sticks, so I don't know why I suddenly needed one that's impervious and indestructible. Except who doesn't like impervious and indestructible?

Don't sell yourself short John, that's a great pic
There's a pattern here, called a market stick, a fancy shepherd's crook the old farmers used to save for swanking about the market place trying to impress their fellow farmersWikipedia calls that a "shepherd's stick".![]()
That's frustrating.(I'd go to a country pub, but in an hour or two, and for several hours after, the roads in and out of Leeds will be packed!)
Thank you, my friend.Don't sell yourself short John, that's a great pic
Cool image Jack.Good morning Guardians, 6.30am here in Yorkshire, and it's been bright and sunny since I got up an hour ago, supposed to be in the mid 70's again. I usually meet up with my best pal on Fridays, but he has a works meeting today. I have plenty to do myself thoughHave a good Friday Guardians, it's nearly the weekend

The knobs are too big on CS's knobkerrie and "blackthorn", and I'd feel a little conspicuous with Steven Seagal's fantasy stick, but I like this one, though a little taper wouldn't hurt it.I've looked at the same one myself JerThe aircraft aluminium walking/ski poles are very strong, but lack character I think

Our city dicksissels for brains are paying a consulting firm a million dollars to tell them it will be fine to go back to two-way traffic downtown. (Back in the late fifties we went to one-way traffic because the two-way traffic didn't move.)YeahUsed to be we had a 'Rush Hour', now it runs from about 3.00pm to 7.30pm, and is at its worst on Fridays, a 20 minute journey can take 2 hours because of the traffic congestion

That's one of the few I liked the look of JerThe knobs are too big on CS's knobkerrie and "blackthorn", and I'd feel a little conspicuous with Steven Seagal's fantasy stick, but I like this one, though a little taper wouldn't hurt it.
I thought I might have to round off a corner or two, but I'm getting used to it as is.

It means "32 degrees Canadian". It's basically 90 in real degrees....Supposed to be 32C here today - I might have to look up what that means!
Thanks Tyson! It means "32 degrees Canadian". It's basically 90 in real degrees.
Welcome to the Guardians! My Arthur Wright BEX handle. Starting to develop a very slight patina
That’s “a low-down dirty rotten shame.“ I would love a lignum vitae. Lambfoot. As you know Charlie, lignum was once used for bowling balls and (Crown Green) bowls, and I sometimes come across the latter at flea marketsI did offer to have one of these cut up, but to no avail
I thought it would look good with a Bird's Eye pivot

Things to do on on a sunny Summer’s day, plus good things to eat with a friend. Doesn’t get much better my friend.Good morning Guardians, 6.30am here in Yorkshire, and it's been bright and sunny since I got up an hour ago, supposed to be in the mid 70's again. Let’s settle this, John. First, that image is fabulous. Second, I don’t think I’m that great. I do have experience and am willing to spend more time than most in execution. I find it relaxing, meditative, even. There are so many great images here, and yours is on that list.
How’s the hickory nut thing going, Todd? Love that pére david Lambfoot.
Can’t wait to see that when it’s finished, Jack.Though when I get time I'm making a mace-headed stick!![]()
