Thanks Harvey, I used to test footwear as part of my job, but I don't think it was good for my feet. Now, for every 3 or 4 pairs of footwear I buy, maybe one will be comfortable, so I'm always trying to find something good :) I'd hoped my back would be better by now, but it's definitely clipped my wings I'm afraid :( I appreciate your kind words :) :thumbsup:

That really is a fascinating knife. r8shell r8shell kindly sent me one of the more recent ones. The blade differs slightly to a Lambsfoot I think, particularly at the nose...

Good morning Guardians, the media is talking about a drought here, and about banning sprinklers, but it's raining here in Yorkshire, which I think it's done, at least part of the day, for the past week :rolleyes: There seem to be a lot of local festivals, summer fairs, carnivals, etc organised for this weekend, so I hope they get some better weather. If my back is no better, I won't be doing much myself though :( I hope everyone has had a good week, and that you're looking forward to the weekend :) I'm carrying an Old Friend today, in the form of my 2018 Guardians SFO, in ebony :) Have a great day Guardians :thumbsup:

I'm sure that nobody here has forgotten that Yorkshire Day is fast approaching ;) When, on August 1st, throughout the world, the folks and friends of Yorkshire celebrate God's Own County :D Yorkshire Day falls on a Monday this year, so inevitably, and rather unfortunately in my opinion, some of the celebrations have been moved to the last weekend of July. I'm not sure what I'm going to do myself yet, but bad back permitting, I can hopefully find some fun - and beer! :)

I've been doing a Yorkshire Day giveaway for quite a few years now, and last year's chip butty challenge seemed to be a lot of fun, so why not try it again? First, the prize, this Rosewood Lambsfoot is my 'Last of the Mohicans', picked up in Sheffield, when John Maleham was still gaffer at Wright's. I won't be buying anymore knives from the firm. If you win, you'll get the knife, and a package of Yorkshire goodies.

The challenge is to assemble a chip butty, (or if you prefer, make Yorkshire pudding). You can make the chips yourself, or buy them, or you can have a chip butty made up for you at your eaterie of choice. If you want some ideas, and want to see how much fun it was, check out last year's posts, starting here . You can have your chip butty anytime from Saturday morning to Monday night, but please post a photo on Yorkshire Day - Monday August 1st - with a Lambsfoot in the photo. Your photo is your entry (exceptional posts get an extra ticket in the hat).

Sorry to hear about your back. 🙁 Back pain is no fun. A few years back, I experienced what I thought was sciatica. After a week of pain in my lower back and leg, I went to see a chiropractor, which wasn’t much help. Two days later I went to the ER with a high fever and neck pain. After six hours and two spinal taps they sent me home and told me to take ibuprofen for the fever/pain. 🙄 It took ‘em a week (at which point I was finally starting to feel better) to call back and tell me I’d had West Nile Virus.
