Keep on grinding brother. Blood lamb looking goodGuardianship. The busy time is upon me. Iβve been having trouble keeping up the last few days with work and packing and a move on the horizon. Rest assured the Lambfoot is in the pocket. May be disconnected for awhile but I will resurface. Have a good week to all. PeteView attachment 1889710

I also hope i can get it sorted, i fear it may have something to do with the embedded internet connection in the building. The new place is fantastic itself, a lot bigger than where i was and brand new, used to be a great location, but like many places in your part of the world has changed a lot. I am the wrong age group, it is now for the young, but as my mum would have said, " Stop Your Complaining And Be Grateful For What You've Got ".Great to see you here Leon, but sorry for your computer woes, it's the same with my laptop, some darn Windows 10 issueI hope you can get it sorted out mate, and that you settle into your new place OK

I'm glad to hear that there have been some positive aspects to your move mate. One of the things that dissuaded me from moving a decade back was that everywhere I saw was much smaller than my current place. Good luck with everything Leon, and I hope you soon settle inI also hope i can get it sorted, i fear it may have something to do with the embedded internet connection in the building. Thanks Jack, I'm making progress. Going out for my morning stroll and hopefully loosen up my cranky back.Hope you're doing ok Bill, you take it easy buddy![]()
Jack, your post really struck a chord with me. The truth be told; new isn't always better. Your story makes me think about the way things used to be. The term "old school" that seems to be , at times. to be derogatory is more often than not used by those who can't muster up what it takes to "get it right". I will admit that new ways and things have led to higher quality of life (and I'm grateful for it) in many respects but not in everything. With all that being said call me "old school".Hope everyone is having a good day. It's about 80 here, and a pretty nice day. I wasn't expecting to go anywhere, but my friend Matt, who I was with on Yorkshire Day, offered to take me to the supermarket, and even carried my shopping in for me. My fridge was looking a bit bare, so I was glad to stock it up again
When I was a boy, before the supermarkets came along, every other street had a row of small shops - a grocers, butchers, green grocers, hardware store, and a bakery. In the bakery, the missus would be up front serving customers, while the baker baked bread, and all sorts of delicious treats, in the back. There aren't many left like that unfortunately.
One of the things they baked were pikelets, either square, or more usually round. About half the country called them 'crumpets', and when the supermarkets and big bakeries came along, they said 'pikelets' on one side of the packet, and 'crumpets' on the other, but because they were called crumpets in London and south east England, it wasn't long before they were just sold as 'crumpets'.
It's a shame that we've lost the old word, not least since, in Sheffield, 'pikelet' is an affectionate, but mildly derogatory term for someone who is being a bit daft.
Not only did the name change, but the quality began to go downhill, and eventually they were transformed from a delicious snack into something which tasted like cardboard. As a result, I have largely stopped buying 'crumpets', but I saw these square ones in the supermarket, and thought they might taste better. They didn't unfortunately
One day, when Yorkshire is an independent nation, we will dine on tasty pikelets once again! And in the meantime, I shall try to remember not to buy crumpets, which never taste anywhere near as good as they look!
