Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians, welcome to the weekend! ;) I hope our US members have a special one, and that some of you will post a little about it  Here in Yorkshire, there's rain forecast for both today and tomorrow - seems our summer didn't outlast my sciatica (which continues to get better thankfully)! I certainly have plenty of stuff to do in the house anyway, though maybe I can get out for some fresh air later. Whatever you're doing today, I hope that you have a good one, and that the workers get to put their feet up! ;)

May each day bring you further relief, Jack. Such a fine image of you wonderful Barlow.
Starting with this one today. 😊View attachment 1919286
Great start. Beautiful Lambfoot, Todd.
I decided to get some fresh air, and go for something to eat in a Leeds suburb called Oakwood. This is 'Oakwood Clock', which was pinched from Leeds Market!

I had lunch at a Middle Eastern restaurant, and as the weather forecast was wrong, it was nice enough to sit outside :)

Don't think I'll be eating again today! :D

That’s a beaut. Fine image, too.

Good Morning Guardians

Hope everybody’s having a nice weekend. The weather here in Santa Cruz has been great. I expect the beaches will be packed. And the local amusement park will be going off. They have a wonderful old school wooden roller coaster called the Big Dipper. I do enjoy being home though.
I cut some dahlias yesterday. Here‘s a picture with some lambsfoot content. It’s my lambsfoot of different covers. The dye didn’t take as well on the pile side and is mostly plain kudu bone. I like it.

I'm sure my wife's number for me would have been higher though.

I was thinking the same thing. 😁

Good looking slim slip, John. The red stitching is a nice subtle touch.

Glad you were able to get out, Jack. Once again, I was thinking the same as John… that looks like a feast! 🙂

Here’s that Keen Kutter hatchet I mentioned. It’s fairly small — I don’t know how axes are measured, but the head is about 5” from the edge to the butt, and the edge is 3” long — and the handle is only 11.5”.

An A. Wright lambsfoot knife with Redwood covers....

View attachment 1919289

This is the Methuselah Redwood Tree located a couple of miles from where I lived and grew up in the Santa Cruz Mountain range. I have driven past it maybe a hundreds of times on my 35 mile daily commute to San Francisco on Skyline BLVD. The Methuselah is over a thousand of years old. It's over 200 feet tall and would make many knife covers! :) Much of the old growth redwood trees have been logged out but there remains thousands of redwood trees in this forest. A real treat living here.

Those trees are incredible Dave, I always think about what they must have looked like to people seeing them for the first time. I'm glad that there are still some left. I don't think I've ever seen another Lambsfoot with redwood covers, nice that it has stirs such fond thoughts for you :)
Looks delicious Jack, first thing my eyes went to…besides the HHB of course…was the bowl of olives. 😉👍
LOL! :D When I was a teenager, I spent some time living among olive groves, and without an abundance of food, but I didn't like the taste of olives until I was about 40! It was very strange, and apparently not uncommon, having being told that I might like them as I got older, I tried olives many times, but found them awful. Then, suddenly, it was as if someone flipped a switch, and I have loved them ever since :D
thanks Jack - I do like it
With good reason :)

A lovely image :) That old wooden roller coaster sounds cool  There is an old one here called the Big Dipper too. 'Crazy Mouse' (or 'Wild Mouse') seems to have been a common roller coaster name in the the past too, which I always think rather funny. There is one in Brighton, on the southern English coast called that, and it sits high above the sea. It's very tame by modern standards :) I haven't been on a roller-coaster for years, but my mate's lad will talk about them endlessly! :D

Beautiful picture, beautiful knife, and I love riding the Big Dipper... perched way up there above the ocean. 🤠
When I was a kid, we went on holiday to Blackpool, the seaside resort where the Big Dipper is located. It rather dominated the town back then. My dad spent the whole of the holiday, and much time thereafter, telling me that when I was "a bit older" he'd take me on it. I was in my early 20's, with a girlfriend, when I eventually went on it, but after a lifetime of build-up, it was a bit of a disappointment! :D

I hope everyone is having a great Saturday :) Based on my last posting time, I have just had one heck of a nap!

I was thinking the same thing. 😁
🤣

The food at that place is absolutely delicious Barrett :) I'll have to go in the evening sometime as there are a lot of other dishes on the menu then

Yes, apparently your taste buds change several times during your life, and so a lot of teenagers start liking tomatoes for example, where olives can come later in life :) I see kids eating olives all the time now, but when I was a kid, you just didn't see them here, like a lot of things. The British diet was still very narrow, and very much affected by the shortages of WW2. My father was such a finicky eater, that I wonder I don't have an eating disorder! :D I'm glad you like olives now Dwight :) That's a stunning image :)

I avoid crowds like the plague, especially packed beaches.

My Father was the same, i would not call it finicky, i reckon they were just more conservative and less adventurous, any food that they had not been brought up on seemed very foreign to them.

What a great find.
Here’s a picture of the pile side of this lambsfoot along with my cat.
Excellent image.
