Evening Guardians! You’ve got to love this time of year !View attachment 1933039
Cool pic Nank, that really is a great-looking knife
Sweet composition there my friend, that's a cool old wrench there with your stag Lamb
I have always admired this particular spot you use as a studio. I'm thinking it's wood covered in lichen or is it stone? Anyways it is beautiful.

Have a great weekend y'all.View attachment 1933050
You're taking no prisoners with that pic Dwight  :)

Afternoon all, got another shot at the dog park.

I wish A Wright hadn't stopped etching the blade with the Real Lambsfoot.
Sweet pic Steve, they don't do a lot of things the same way anymore  I managed to get the etch put on the Guardians SFOs. That'll be the same machine that did yours

Thanks, I wiped them down with a solution of potasium permanganate a few times which darkened them quite a bit. I then lightly sanded them back with some 1200-1500 wet dry paper and then polished them. I then put a heavy coat of mineral oil on them and let that soak in for about an hour then gave then a lght coat of furniture wax.
Fantastic foresight and job. They will age really well with use now.

Thank you my friend, it was a big part of my life, and I missed it for a long time. I was also Climbing Editor of this magazine (apologies for the hastily taken pic)

I'm sure you did miss it. Being the Climbing editor for the magazine must have been a job you loved. I use to do some hiking and camping in the mountains and loved it. It always amazed me how when you get above tree line it's like entering a whole new world.

Great pic there, I always enjoy seeing old tools :)

About 2010 while researching what happened to a lot of the old tool and cutlery companies I realized that they were gone forever and never coming back. It hit me like a baseball bat across the forehead. For serveral years I bought a lot of old wrenches. I'm more interested in the cutlery companies now-a-days. My mom asked if I was going to start a museum? I told her no. I'm just saving a little history for myself so I dont forget and to share with others if they are interseted.

That's very true :) It used to be that when I went camping, I'd look for the highest peaks, and climb them, now I potter along the canal for the most part! :D ;)

I can very much relate to that my friend :) That's another quality wrench with your Lamb
Seconded.
Thanks mate :) There must have been thousands of those etching machines in Sheffield at one time. Now, I doubt there are a handful :(

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone is having a fine weekend :) There isn't much to do here at the moment, so I may spend the day just catching up with some housework, and working on a few projects, maybe have a bit of slingshot practice ;) I'm carrying this Sheffield-rebuild today, haven't carried it in a while :) Have a great Sunday Guardians
