Happy Yorkshire Day, everyone! Yorkshire Day finds me in Flagstaff, Arizona, on the road with my family, which now includes a 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot.
With sincere gratitude to
Jack Black
, I humbly request admission to the Guardianhood. Thank you, Jack, and thank you all for giving me so much to read (and drool over) these past several months. This is truly a great community and a solid pillar of this porch
I received my GuardiansFoot last week, just in time for a two-week vacation in Idaho and Arizona. The photos below illustrate our journey thus far:
First, the unboxing at our home in Tucson, Arizona. My six-year-old daughter was the inspiration to contact the High Guardian himself and inquire after a lambsfoot. She caught me staring slack-jawed at one of the 2018's and said "That's a pretty knife. I wish you had one of those." Thanks to Jack and his considerable acumen in international commerce (and commendably thorough packaging), now we do
Shortly after the unboxing, we took Lambchop outside for his first glamor shot (with mesquite beans). Still sporting the factory edge.
We hit the road for the first leg of our trip and started the Patina Party in Idaho.
After a few potatoes, lemons and limes for margaritas and a bit of passing-around to family members who needed a sharp knife for other cooking duties, Lambchop needed some care. A short session with a sharpening stone and strop, and "Lambchop" was more like "Lambshave"

Seriously, folks, a sharp lambsfoot is no joke. Here he is sporting his new edge on a mature willow tree...
...and resting on a slab of basalt next to a fountain
On our last day in Idaho, we found a clump of maple leaves in pre-autumn splendor. They caught my eye as it was far too early for this kind of color. Nevertheless, a nice photo opp. What hams these Lambsfeet are
With gratitude for my new companion,
