Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

The etching machine is ancient, and they can no longer get hold of the small phosphor-bronze 'tips', which wear out quite quickly. That and laziness! ;)

Nice knife though Don :) And a nice pint of Sam Smiths to go with it :)

I've not noticed before, but I reckon that might be my knife getting etched in the pic above!

I do believe mine is the one in the center of your pic, Jack. That is pretty cool to see a WIP picture.

Hey, fantastic Dylan! Great pic of your knife too my friend :) Mine shouldn't even been there as it was the sample I received in advance, but they forgot to put the etch on, as they did the others! So the etching all got done together  Here's another pic inn case anyone else can spot their knife (I'd forgotten how good that horn looks!)

Thanks, Jack! :thumbsup:Great ole time machines, I can imagine the etching units today are 1/10 the size.

There would have been hundreds of those machines in Sheffield at one time Dave. That might well be the last one :(

Speaking of Old; This was taken 1913 the Homestead. My Grandfather sitting wearing Buffalo Coat, with the baby, my dad on his knee. And of course, Grandmother and the older siblings, the dog's name was Jack! :p

And an older pic of a similar machine - could even be the same one!

LOL Jack! The beer isn't Sam Smiths, it's just Sam Smiths beer mats. It's a pint of Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild at the Beacon Hotel in Sedgley. Sam Smith's may of brewed beer that nice once, long ago, but if they did I never got to taste any :D
Thanks for posting those great pics! I think you may of posted a pic of that pentogram machine before. It's a shame about the equipment; I wonder how other cutlers etch their blades still.

LOL! I just saw that in the B & B thread David! :D

Greetings Guardians! I’ve been quite busy with life and travel and have quite a bit of catching up to do on both this thread and the porch in general. I plan to do that this weekend, but wanted to go ahead and say a quick hello before my lambsfoot and I attend to serious business. ;)

That picture was taken in Febuary in what we call the Peace River Area. Which is a fertile farming area in Northen Alberta.
The government offered 160 acres for one dollar to come and clear the land and farm. A lot of families moved in from eastern Canada , Britain, and Holland. The Dutch were, good dairy farmers.

Awesome family history. Only thing I know from Alberta is the singer Corb Lund. Saw him in concert way down here in Northern California I think two years ago. Great musician!

Thanks, Taylor, one of the good ole boys was Ian Tyson. He and Corb Lund are working together this summer.
Check that I know of Ian too...how'd I forget Ian Tyson! I'd love to see him live. Closest he has been to me was in Reno, Nevada.

When I was a young buck, I used to frequent a Bar in Leduc Alberta. Ian played there at least once a Month. Still my favorite song, Summer Wages.

That's awesome, one day I'm gonna venture up to Alberta! Summer wages, MC horses and Navajo Rug are my favorites.

:thumbsup: You should come up for the Calgary Stampede runs for 10 days first part of July. This is when all the cowboys from the USA and Australia come to compete. My wife and I took in Alan Jackson awesome show.
