Jumping to today’s posts, hope I didn’t miss anything. This thread moves fast, testament to a great thread with great people. Heading home later this morning and I’ll be carrying my lamb. During the Great Flood of '93 I heard an obviously upset woman call into a local radio station and demand to know, "Why isn't the Corps of Engineers drilling holes in the bottom of the river to drain the water and save all those people from flooding."Really?I guess there was a time when certain things didn't change for generations
I remember during the time of the first moon landing, an old lady told my mother, "I hope it's a full moon when they go up, or they might miss it."

Jack did some SFOs with Wright's under an earlier administration. That's where many of us got our lambsfoots.
so will be making a run to Charlie's Cafe!
Pure Bliss. In search of coffee and a croissant, I hot-footed down to Charlie's Cafe, but I was too early for croissants, as they were still in the oven

I made do with a couple of Lotus biscuits, then headed into town. A decade ago, there must have been 20 cafes in Leeds city centre, maybe more, where I could get breakfast. Not anymore unfortunately, but I did manage to get another coffee, and a couple of slices of sourdough toast in a bookshop (not many of those left either). About 30 years ago, a French friend returned to live in France, and when we next met, I asked her if there was anything she missed about England. When she told me that she missed toast, I thought she was being rather unimaginative/crazy, but as I've got older, and bread has got a lot better here, I really enjoy your morning toastHope everyone is having a nice day

Very nice.
Thanks. I hesitate to trust them, though, because they both telescope and at my age slapstick seems to seek me out.Very nice.![]()
Interesting pic Jer, are those walking-sticks or ski-poles?
As Jer says, below, a lot of the A. Wright knives shown here, are actually SFOs, made some years ago, when the company had a different ownership. Not many firms make a Lambsfoot, but personally, I wouldn't buy another knife from Wright'sI love seeing all of these photos. It appears that more of these are A. Wright and Sons knives than other brands. Is that because of price point, availability, popularity or what?
Nice photo
Glad you had a nice time with your brother David, and that the dust has dropped todayMorning Guardians! Had a good time up at my brothers yesterday. The dust was blowing so bad yesterday in places I had to slow down cause I couldnt see the road. Reminded me of some of the pictures from the dust bowl in the 1930's. This morning its raining. No dust today. The 19 is on duty today. Happy trails Guardians

We'd still be getting an annual Guardians SFO, if they could stick to their wordJack did some SFOs with Wright's under an earlier administration. That's where many of us got our lambsfoots.
Since I don’t have any old A. Wright & Son’s to compare to the ones I have are recently manufactured ones. And for me price point and availability have been factors behind my purchases. For the most part I’ve been happy with them. Michael May also makes a nice lambsfoot but they are pricier.
Thanks Harvey, that's another fabulous pic my friend
I rarely use them these days, but I've had some Leki poles for 30 years Jer, and never had a problem with themThanks. I hesitate to trust them, though, because they both telescope and at my age slapstick seems to seek me out.
Cool pic Dwight, I need to get out and check for chestnutsbigfish64
Hey Todd I'm thinking it was you who asked if I'd checked the seed this fall? So here's one for you my friend.View attachment 1967611
I don't think the ones with the double size bolster we've seen a lot of here recently are standard production, but made at the requirement of a dealer. Most of the UK dealers don't even check their stock, passing on poorly made knives to their customers, but if a dealer insists on better quality, and rejects the knives that don't come up to scratch, Wright's are capable of producing knives of decent quality (sadly, they're also happy to turn out knives of variable quality). Michael May buys his parts from Wright's, having the blades stamped at the factorySince I don’t have any old A. Wright & Son’s to compare to the ones I have are recently manufactured ones. Hope you enjoyed it BenGood morning Guardians! My Sunday brunch at a favorite spot.

Very interesting, it confirms rumors I have heard.
