Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks Todd, it really was the biggest night of the year! :) Every other house had their own bonfire, and every street corner, and empty lot (the Luftwaffe had left us plenty of bomb-sites and broken furniture). It was a real community event too. Later, there were huge public firework displays, and fairgrounds came. Kids would look forward to it all year
I can understand why, everything a kid could want, bonfires, fireworks, and mischief! 🤣
Wow! That would be considered a good British summer temperature Todd! Have a great weekend buddy, cool pic of your ebony Lamb :)
Thanks Jack. What a difference a day can make. Strong front moving through right now. Wind changing from south to northwest on 40 + mph gusts. There won’t be a leaf left on the trees after today! 🤣
Good morning Guardians, one of the things I used to love about the Autumn as a kid was the smell of the coal fires on the breeze - and the smell of gunpowder! :D - Not many folks still burn coal here, but quite a few of my neighbours burn wood. Most of them have fuel efficient stoves and burners though, which is undoubtedly for the best, but I miss the smell, just as I miss the smells of mashing hops, roasting coffee, tobacco, spices, and all the other aromas that you once encountered in any town centre. No doubt, the smell of gunpowder will be in the air tonight though, and fireworks will be going off even before darkness falls :) I hope everyone has had a good week, it sounds as if many of you have been enjoying some unseasonably good weather, and it has been the same here, on one or two days, but the British rainy season, the days and nights of drizzle, has certainly arrived. Folks put up their coat collars, and put their heads down, hurrying home, after work, in the gathering gloom. Some of my neighbours, I may not see until Spring now! I hope you have something nice planned for the weekend, and that you have a good one. The weather is poor here today, but I'll definitely go out for some fresh air, and of course, I have a large doughnut with my name on it! :D Have a great day Guardians

I think that’s why I love Thanksgiving so much, the smells evoke great childhood memories. Love that photo of your HHB Jack. 😎👍
I did go out earlier, and walked down to Charlie's cafe for a coffee and a pain au raisin :)

I'd intended to go over to Harrogate, to visit a few antique shops. The bus there stops at the bottom of my street, and close to Charlie's, and it's a great journey on the top deck of a double decker. The buses are supposed to be every 10 minutes, and the Lie in the Sky told me I wouldn't have to wait long. That figure kept changing though, and changing...and an hour and 15 minutes later, I gave up
Nothing more frustrating. 😖

I can't wait for our world to get back on track again.
🤞🤞🤞

That is quite a change Todd!

I love the idea of Thanksgiving, and always enjoy hearing about it :)

I reckon the folks in the Shetland Islands know how to organise a celebration! :D

Really annoying Todd, if the sign hadn't kept lying to me I wouldn't have bothered waiting

Nice way to start the weekend Pete :)

I just tackled the doughnut I picked up yesterday, and I am FULL (as well as being on a sugar rush)!! :D

I’m not sitting in my usual Saturday morning fireside chair because it’s too windy for a fire…good thing. This branch just came down as I was typing my last post. That would’ve hurt! 🤣View attachment 1979278

Glad you're OK Todd! I thought you did a fantastic job of that Pere David Lamb, one of the best mods I've seen

We went into St. Louis for the celebration when the Blues won the Stanley Cup a few years ago. Took us 3 hours to get out of the city. Glad I went but I doubt I’ll go again if they ever win it again.

Oh my... That could have been your head. o_O
According to Mrs. Bigfish, the branch would have sustained more damage! 🤣

Thanks a lot Jack, coming from you, that’s a huge compliment. 😊

Absolutely! 🤣

This front probably moved through your area yesterday or last night. Any wind damage?
Not right here around my place. I haven't been anywhere else or had the news on this morning, so I don't know about the nearby area. We did get 1.5 inches of rain which we needed, so that's good
