Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Not right here around my place. I haven't been anywhere else or had the news on this morning, so I don't know about the nearby area. We did get 1.5 inches of rain which we needed, so that's good
Not much rain for us, mostly just wind. We could use some rain too, but we aren’t nearly as dry as you are over there.

Thanks Gents. I have a few errands today but it’s shaping up to be a restful weekend. Cold front came through here last night so the weather is feeling very nice too.
You down into the 80's Pete?! :D ;)
We went into St. Louis for the celebration when the Blues won the Stanley Cup a few years ago. Took us 3 hours to get out of the city. Glad I went but I doubt I’ll go again if they ever win it again.
I know what you mean Todd, I remember, as a 5 year-old, being taken into the city centre to see Sheffield Wednesday, returning from the previous day's FA Cup Final. Biggest crowd I'd ever seen at the time - and they had LOST! :D

According to Mrs. Bigfish, the branch would have sustained more damage! 🤣

Thanks a lot Jack, coming from you, that’s a huge compliment. 😊
LOL! :D You are very kind my friend :)

Very cool Harvey! 👍👍
Thank you Pete.
Good morning Guardians, one of the things I used to love about the Autumn as a kid was the smell of the coal fires on the breeze - and the smell of gunpowder! :D - Not many folks still burn coal here, but quite a few of my neighbours burn wood. Most of them have fuel efficient stoves and burners though, which is undoubtedly for the best, but I miss the smell, just as I miss the smells of mashing hops, roasting coffee, tobacco, spices, and all the other aromas that you once encountered in any town centre. No doubt, the smell of gunpowder will be in the air tonight though, and fireworks will be going off even before darkness falls :) I hope everyone has had a good week, it sounds as if many of you have been enjoying some unseasonably good weather, and it has been the same here, on one or two days, but the British rainy season, the days and nights of drizzle, has certainly arrived. Folks put up their coat collars, and put their heads down, hurrying home, after work, in the gathering gloom. Some of my neighbours, I may not see until Spring now! I hope you have something nice planned for the weekend, and that you have a good one. The weather is poor here today, but I'll definitely go out for some fresh air, and of course, I have a large doughnut with my name on it! :D Have a great day Guardians
Have fun and be safe, Jack.
Enjoy your weekend everyone.View attachment 1979207
That’s a nicely lit images, Bob.
I did go out earlier, and walked down to Charlie's cafe for a coffee and a pain au raisin :)
Always a great start. Fab images.
the Lie in the Sky told me
🤣🤣🤣
I can't wait for our world to get back on track again.
The tea leaves I’m reading are saying it’s good to have faith.
Quiet morning with come coffee.

Wow! Great shot, Pete.
I’m not sitting in my usual Saturday morning fireside chair because it’s too windy for a fire…good thing. This branch just came down as I was typing my last post. That would’ve hurt! 🤣
Thankful you’re safe, Todd. Fine images, too.

Thank you Harvey, it's only just after 5.00pm here, and drizzling with rain, but I can hear the excited shouts of children who live a couple of streets away. They have a bonfire on the corner, and are letting off their fireworks, with whoops of pleasure :) How much they know about old Guy Fawkes I'm not sure, being as that particular group of kids are Romanian, but they seem to be participating in the celebrations with gusto! :D I can hear the thump of larger fireworks further away, and the patter of exploding rockets splashing colours into the night sky. All around me, on both sides of the house, fireworks are being let off, several each second, and I can see them exploding through the living room window, and hear the staccato reports of the munitions detonating further away . If I go through to the other side of the house, there'll be even more colourful barrages taking place above the park a mile up the road, and if I look beyond the trees at the front, have a distant view of one of the public displays. This will continue throughout the evening, until midnight at least, as folks let off the fireworks at their own private parties, which won't start until later. In the morning, you'll still be able to smell the gunpowder, and spot the occasional wooden stick from a rocket, or the colourful packaging of a spent cardboard cannister 🔥

Beautiful color.
LOL! :D That's a young man's game my friend! 🤣

Thanks Todd, it really was the biggest night of the year! :) Every other house had their own bonfire, and every street corner, and empty lot (the Luftwaffe had left us plenty of bomb-sites and broken furniture). It was a real community event too. Later, there were huge public firework displays, and fairgrounds came. Kids would look forward to it all year

Wow! That would be considered a good British summer temperature Todd! Have a great weekend buddy, cool pic of your ebony Lamb :)

That'd be the alternative here :)

I hadn't realised it was so complex Dwight, it's worse than the tomatoes! 🤣 When I lived in France, because of the way they butcher the pigs, they don't really have bacon at all there

LOL! 🤣 I'm not sure the dictionaries are that much help either!😂

Thanks Harvey :)

Thanks Pete :)

Fantastic photos Steve, I hope today is just as good for you :)

Beautiful handles on that one Todd

Well then scratch the helmet idea...;)
but I think I'll crack a few cans, or open a bottle of wine, and toast the fireworks
Cheers Pal!
Thank you Pete.

The Mark Side Snakewood cover of my recovered Standard Lambfoot has developed a very slight crack. It hasn't been dropped or mishandled. It looks/appears to be because it has dried out. You can see the crack just below the middle pin. It runs from about a 1/4" below the bolster to just past the middle pin. It is very slight and not easily seen at first glance. Whether the crack goes all the way through the cover is not know. It may be just a minor check in the wood.

Anyway, I took a very fine tipped pin and slightly scored the crack and then filled the crack with "Krazy Glue" (super glue). It looks fine and the repair is almost invisible. The electricians tape is a wrap around bandage (begins in the inside of the well on the mark side liner, wraps around the handle, and finishes inside the well on the pile side liner). It'll keep the crack tightly bound until the super glue cures.

Actually, I might just leave the tape on it - doesn't look bad.

That's very kind Dwight, I'm sure Harvey would have made that doughnut look even tastier! :D
That is such a beautiful image Dwight, quite spellbinding  Amazing colours, and I love the multi-layered effect you've created :)

I have almost no experience of Snakewood Ed, but I've seen Ironwood develop small fissures, like my Lucy's bite-marks. I think L lambertiana is extremely knowledgeable about wood. I hope your repair job works OK (can't see why it wouldn't). I have a Snakewood model with some cracks, but they occurred at the factory, and I got it cheap as a second.

Why not?! :D

About an hour ago, I noticed the kids outside were out in the garden, so I thought I'd take them my Halloween candy, but by the time I got my boots on, they'd gone back inside! I'd also noticed a few friends across the road having a beer round a fire, and took a 6-pack out with me, but after I went out, they'd wandered down to a much bigger blaze a few streets down. I don't recall it ever being so mild in November here, and most of the large trees which abound on my street, have barely shed their leaves, so while the fusillade of fireworks continues unabated, the view of them from the street isn't actually that good. I stayed out for a while talking to a couple of neighbours, but I think I'm going to watch a movie now :) Hope everyone is having a great Saturday

A brilliantly written description of events, Jack.

G'day mates
Both Lambfoot and image are pleasing to the eyes.
